Keith Butler hot seat?

Miscommunications is the players polite way of saying poor coaching.

If they don't say it we can say it for them.

Poor coaching, and painful to look at defense.

Watching Tomlin on the side lines , I don't think he can interferer with anything that goes on the playing field

Steelers CB Mike Hilton: "We feel we gave them 21 points. They really didn’t go down and earn it on us. We had a lot of miscommunciations and blown coverages. It led for a 21-0 start.”

Ok Mike, miscommunications the reason for the first 21 points...what about the next 21 points?

I remember a lot of people saying on here how great our D is and this is the best D we have had in years? This was apparently based on tieing THE BROWNS in a driving rain storm. Our D always seems like it should be good on paper but in reality it is not. At some point you can not say it is lack of talent anymore. I am sure that there are several less talented teams in the league that perform better. Either was have the dumbest players in the league and can not follow directions or we have terrible coaching. I am leaning heavily toward coaching....

That’s my concern. Next team is playing very hot and confident. Fitzpatrick is ballin out! After that we have the Ravens, Falcon, and @ Bengals before the bye. We really could be looking at 0-4-1 at the bye. We are too talented for this to be a possibility. However, we don’t have the coaches to exploit our talents. Even if we are 2-2-1 at the bye we will be fighting uphill the rest of the season and on the bubble for a wild card. Sorry, but I don’t see, nor have the confidence, Tomlin and Co can turn this around.
Here’s to hoping that we can pull off a 3 game winning streak and get out of this abysmal funk we are in. It’s on the coaches to me.

if it's "miscommunication" because the old adage of "it takes time to learn the defense" then dumb that **** down. our defensive guys shouldn't be doing a lot of algebraic equations out there pre-snap, and more post-snap.

on that long pass to Watkins, Sutton hesitated and slowed down after seeing the ball go over his head. It was as if he expected safety coverage and he'd stay in his area. at that point, why? you see the ******* ball go over your head. go get it.

Our Defense has been awful since Bill Cowhers players got old and retired and it got worse last year when Tomlin officially took it over.
Football more then any other sport Is Coaching. The right coach can take the same players and be better. Mike Tomlin is killing this Team.
What can be done about it right now in the middle of the season? Nothing other than hoping Ben can Bail him out again

This ... oh, and to repeat, the Steelers apparently have no idea where to go, what to do, whom to cover, what area to cover, which receiver to pass off, which receiver to stick with.

Then pray tell, why does EVERY @#$%in QB IN THE NFL, FROM BLAKE BORTLES TO TOM BRADY AND EVERY QB IN BETWEEN SHRED THIS DEFENSE, AND KNOW EXACTLY WHO IS WHERE??

Well Mr Hilton, you gotta learn about being accountable. 42 points at home? Stop with the excuses

It's such a ridiculous point to try to make.

OK, so what if it "easy" for them? That just means we suck... What, you think Kansas City is gonna say "Awww hell, ya know what, Pittsburgh? It'sobvious to us that y'all have no idea what you're doing out there, we'll just count those last two touchdowns as 3 points each because it was 'so easy' for us"

The Chiefs scored TDs on their first 6 possessions not counting the kneel down possession to end the first half. Acknowledging the problem is the first step.

When Tony Dungy is ripping your defense and coverage ability it is time to shut up and take it.

As I said in a previous thread, Tomlin has surrounded himself with losers. He is not the kind of leader who surrounds himself with winners, because that would expose him.

This is always the attitude the defense has. Always about miscommunication. It's been this way for years and the current staff can't seem to fix it.
They are not lining up well. There is always some last minute hustle up to a misalignment. It's terrible. Like you don't know where to go.

Please get your facts straight. Chiefs had 6 possessions in the first half. Their first 3 were TDs, their next 3 were stops (the last being the kneel down).

Butler's defense is supposedly rookie friendly, simple and easy to learn, so they say.

they'd have still won.

And here is the simple, undeniable truth about the Steelers current defense. At some point, the defense will need to make a stop to win the game.

Does anybody believe they are capable of making that stop? Mikey's pillow-soft zone is the perfect recipe for giving the opposition exactly as many yards as they need to win the game.

The defense looked like it had never played together yesterday and that isn't far from the truth. Only 5 starters lined up in their same position from last year
yesterday. The D-line, Williams and Burns. I think it all goes back to what you use the preseason for. Do you use it to prepare your starters to be ready for the
season or do you use it to evaluate players without experience. The Steelers seem to use it for the later.

I would think if you are flipping OLB's, moving your SS to FS, starting a rookie at SS and starting a free agent at ILB, you need to give them some playing time
together in the preseason to be ready for the season. When you don't, you get yesterday.

I questioned Butler having a job with this team entering last season. They needed to make a change there and they didn't. Who on this staff would be able to step in if they made a move? Joey Porter, lol!

How much is ****** coaching and how much is ****** drafting is hard to say.
