Joey Porter OUT

I like that idea. This team lacks discipline and I think Harrison would require it.

You mean the guy falling asleep during team meetings, not coaching up or supporting younger players and generally poisoning the well cause he wasn't getting the PT he was hoping for?

L O L No way I want another player who hasn't proved themselves at coaching the position, handed the position. Especially fuckboy Harrison.

We actually want to improve the coaching.

I've always been a Peezy fan ever since he walked through other teams' warm ups. I wish the organization could have found something else for him to do instead of firing him. Maybe a front office job or something, at least. He was a true blue Steeler through and through, and those guys are on the verge of extinction.

I agree. I feel like the players I grew up on are just going away.

I think they sort of pulled a Troy Edwards there and reached on Burns instead of going the best player available next they went with the best available corner next.

Probably Slash. We can say that now. But at the time, I believe KC and Carnell said they had them both rated the same.

Kinda on the fence with Burns right now. He’s young, could the light come on like what happened to Ike Taylor after Chin benched him? He refocused and became our CB1 and performed until he retired. He’s doesn’t cost much at the moment.

Porter's dismissal most likely comes from Art as a part of cleaning up the culture in the locker room. Let's face it, Joey still thinks he's playing and acts like an ***. Add in the fact that he hasn't developed any talent and his dismissal is a no-brainer.

Absolutely agree this is a locker room culture change as much as it is a coaching change. I was never convinced Porter brought much in terms of coaching and it seemed like his role was growing as time went on, but I also thought he was still too much of a cocky player in terms of attitude as well. That is awesome when he was a linebacker for us, just not as appropriate in his role as coach.

First scape goat.
I always liked Porter being there. He doesn't take **** and gives you it to you straight. Yeah they try to tell Us it's was nothing but all hell is breaking loose. Next year 7-9. Sorry Ben because the Steelers owner is a completely clueless as to how to run a team. No wonder the other family members cashed out.

Well it is a start at least
This is a case of the inmates running the asylum. Never ever going to fix this team that way. Primadonnas mouthing off, leaving doing what ever they want and the biggest offender is Tomlin and obviously the Steelers are mot ready to fix this mistake so expect next year to be a **** season.

Sorry to say but I'm agreeing with **** type seasons until the head cheese is replaced.......By head cheese I'm talking CMVLT and a new D-minded and hard enameled personality. Color of skin doesn't matter as long as he has what it takes. The Steelers have already satisfied the Rooney rule last interview so this time around satisfy it again but not neccessarily hire, unless the right COACH Material.

It did prove very useful for helping the Bengals meltdown in that playoff game a few years ago. He was a hell of a Steeler and I wish him luck going forward.

Loved J. Peezy as a player, as a coach not so much.

How did he get that nickname?

I like that idea. This team lacks discipline and I think Harrison would require it. But I don't know if he has stepped on any toes in the Burgh. Management wouldn't like that.
Harrison might fall asleep during the video sessions

The guy literally had a 10 on the wonderlic. An NFL coach? Come on....

Belichick hires Vrabel. Tomlin hires Porter. Tells you all you really need to know.

That 10 didn't hinder his career any did it?

Good players are often terrible coaches. It's because they were able to get by on their talent and didn't have to work that hard on technique. By contrast, the marginal player knows he needs to know every trick in the book just to be on the field,

Many of these marginal players also are smart enough to know that their real career will likely be coaching and not playing so they ask a ton of questions.

I'm a good mathematician. I can't teach for ****.

Knowing how to teach effectively is definitely a god given skill. Know exactly what you mean. I knew how to fly like the best of them back in my day but I couldn't effectively translate that to others.

POST of the day on PEEZy / CMVLT topic.

I agree the Porter removal was as much about culture change as it was about lack of production, and likely a decision that was forced by Rooney. Which I think is the direction they've decided is best, clean up the internal problems first.

But the defense has scheme and personnel problems and Joey's dismissal does not address that. Who's running the defense and how much of the poor drafting do you put on Colbert? He seldom takes any heat around here.

I'd quit watching the team if they put that ****** anywhere on the staff, I swear to God.
