HC Munch has a nice ring to it

I love Munch as a Coordinator and think he was a decent HC in TN, but if their past choices are any indication, they want a young, up & comer that grows in the position into their 40s+. I'm sure he is out there learning and being groomed on another NFL staff right now.

I agree you could do that, but WILL a new HC do that?

As far as a young coach with POTENTIAL, I would much rather get a more EXPERIENCED coach who has a proven track record. Think more along the lines of a quality FA on their second contract, than a unproven draft choice. The Steelers hit a home run when they got Chuck Noll, but in reality they fell short of that with the Cowher and Tomlin picks. Many have forgotten or never experienced the Cowher years, so he is always cut some slack, where as the Tomlin years are still fresh in everyone’S minds. I expect his level of suckatude will be forgotten as well, years from now. Hell, even Noll was kept on for a few years past his expiration date.

If it were me heading up the team, I would begin looking for a replacement. If Tomlin wants to resign because of that, fine, but I would not can him until I had someone to take the helm. Yes, that can be seen as a dick move, but, it is business.

For me I want a young coordinator that has shown a decent track record of succeeding. Not a one year wonder. Someone known to be a X and O guy.

I want Tomlin gone but i don't understand the turtle ball comment. people have been bashing the steelers for not running then when we do run its turtle ball? can't be both ways. I didn't mind the running yesterday, but the actual plays were terrible.

Well, yes they can!

Yeah really. That O has improved greatly with him over Haley.

I would be completely on the Fitch bandwagon as well. I would love Munch, but I don’t think that he wants the responsibility/task of being the head guy. With that in mind, I can’t say that the hiring of Fitch would upset me one bit.

A DC as new HC would be great if Fin/Munch stay in their respective roles in the offense.

A defensive philosophy as simple as find 2 -3 guys that can play man press coverage a couple bangers on the back end and enough DL to actually play a rotation and keep at least 3 or 4 DL in EVERY play.

The having only 2 DEs playing almost every snap and frequently being the only DL on the field doesn't work...if every game the pass rush disappears I the $th quarter and opposing teams are consistently making 70+ yards drives to beat you it could just mean these guys are gassed and rendered ineffective from too many downs played prior to the $ quarter where they have faced too many double teams

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure these things out, but if it does please consider my application for what should be a vacant job Mr. Colbert because I have prior rocket surgery experience.

why not bill cowher??

when bill was the HC this team would show up to play every ******* week

this team needs a tough coach not a ******* friend(TOMLIN)

When Cowher was replaced, fans were helping him pack. I like Bill in the beginning, but like Tomlin, the need for a change is coming a lot sooner than later. Plus, Cowher has a cushy job where he seems quite happy at.

Look guys there is a fine *** line between winning and losing in this league...

really to use the KISS principle for what could be a complex problem to figure out..

Having a NFL kicker that has had the horrific season that ours has had...is probably the biggest reason we are not at least sitting at 11-4 right now...at least 10-5...

You can look at it from the other side too...
What would the Ravens record be without their kicker this season?

Guarantee,,,they wouldn't even be in the mix right now.

I wouldn't guarantee any of that. We all know what the problem is and it isn't the kicker. Tomlin has cost them more games than any kicker. Stupid play calling, lack of focus and no ability to understand basic clock management. That's why the Steelers are praying for a clown win.

Black Monday Thread

Tomlin better be on the list of head coaches looking for a new job. This season has been an epic collapse.

The guy looks like a sad deer in the headlights.

Tomlin deserves to be fired (1,000 fire Tomlin thread)

Out of everyone here I’ve been the most patient. (At least it feels like it) After the first half it’s very apparent the lack of preparation of this team. It’s amazing how we can look so prepared against teams like Patriots and Saints but look so unprepared against lesser teams such as Raiders & Bengals. I gave them a pass against Chargers and a lesser degree Broncos especially since the talent on both of those teams and refs but my last straw is the way we are playing against the Bungles with a bunch of practice squad players.

Out of everyone here, I gave up on Tomlin first. He is a C grade coach at best. Done.

No way to I make Munch a HC. He's not as skilled at it. Plus he's the best positional coach in football. What he's done with this OL is insane, and is irreplacable.

I'm not head hunting on our head coach yet. But last year, it was his choice to keep Butler. This year it has to either be him and Butler, or just Butler, who will be replaced. The Rooneys will make that call.

I'm hoping the Browns hire another HC, Gregg Williams gets pissed and leaves, and the Steelers poach him to run the D. That is the best case scenario for me.

I have seen enough. I am head hunting. But again nothing will change.

We are stuck in a nightmare of groundhog day.

As mediocrity is this teams signature.
