Harrison today

I'm not going back through all of this thread to see, but exactly HOW did a thread on Harrison's performance after defecting become a moratorium on Tomlin's wearing shades on the sideline, ability to coach, etc. I'd think that with the events that have passed over the course of his tenure here that the man's ability to coach (in shades or not) wouldn't be a question. Now, whether he coaches to some folks level of expectation (perfection) might be.

I swear it's like some folks are the types that would actually deride the man for using "big words" even knowing that he's a college educated man who graduated with honors. ;)

At least own it. Dont sit here and try to spin it. At least own it. If you have used it you knew exactly what you were inferring. He looked cool in his shades and wasnt coaching.

So again, feel free to place your own interpretations on everyone else, since you obviously know exactly what everyone that ever used the terms was inferring. If calling Cowher "the Chin" was not a "slur" but calling Tomlin "Cool Shades" is a slur than you lose all credibility. Anything else that offends your fragile sensibilities that we all should be aware of?

Actually you did...but don't let facts stand in your way.

slur - an insinuation or allegation about someone that is likely to insult them or damage their reputation.

So if you believe that calling Tomlin "Cool Shades" is an attack on his coaching abilities then you are indeed saying it is a slur. Never said it was a racial slur, but a slur none the less.

Well, historically "Cool Shades" has been used in connection with the whole "blank eyed stare" thing to such an extent that the one brings to mind the other. And since the blank eyed stare thing DOES imply one isn't coaching/is an imbecile/is in over his head ....
.

I think you are both full of ****. .... "blank eyed stare", He looked cool in his shades and wasnt coaching.

Nonsense, that's what YOU think. I've called him cool shades before and I'll call him cool shades again and I don't think non of that silliness.

Ok in that case i definitely think its a slur. Didnt think it was a racial slur which is what first popped in my head when slur was used. Its definitely used to slight its not used endearingly like when Cowher was called the Chin.

But, eh, maybe that's just how "I" took it ... again, I'm of the opinion that HCMT wouldn't care what any of us on this board called him while sitting behind our keyboards.

You are exactly correct sir. Tomlin could not care less about what anyone says about him on this or any other board. He has to please Colbert and above all, Art Rooney ll.
I just think as far as this board is concerned it was just having fun with Tomlin the same way we did with Cowher. I’m sure if Tomlin knew he’d most likely laugh it off and tell us to go back to the lab and come up with a better nickname.
We all need to calm down and relax. Hell, it’s playoff time and we’re sitting in good shape.

Agree to disagree Chip. Some definitely use it as a slight. You say you havent and thats great but some have.

I think YOU are full of ****. If you're going to quote what I wrote, at least quote it all and don't cherry pick and leave out the other relevant parts ... I never said you should stop calling him Cool Shades. As a matter of fact, I said, I don't think HCMT would even worry about what we as a group/board, sitting behind our keyboards were calling him. I also noted that maybe that's just how "I" took it. Couldn't have been any clearer in what "I" was saying ... now, if you couldn't understand what "I" was saying and how "I" understood that maybe that's just how "I" was taking it and you choose to be obtuse about my use of the word "I" ... that would make you the one who is full of ****.

Thank you for quoting my whole post. And understanding exactly what I was saying .... Apparently acknowledging that "I" probably took more offense to the term Cool Shades than HCMT would makes me "full of ****". lmao ... some of these folks .... smh

...and thanks for the clarification

As Frenchy Fuqua told me the other day. I should make my new year resolution to drop that nickname. Easy to do if offends some folks. Never my intention as I’m sure no one else’s here.
Oh and John French Fuqua was one of the coolest Steelers ever. I still remember his shoes with the goldfish in the heels. Only Frenchy!
