Where are you all reading about his injury issues?? I heard none of this during or following the draft. You would think that if this was hindering his tackling abilities, this would have been mentioned. This is the first I'm hearing of it.

4.63 is not really that slow for a safety. Ed Reed ran a 4.54 at the combine and that was plenty of speed for his game. From what I read, Holliman was injured when he posted that 4.63. We get way to hung up on 40 times players post at the combine. This kid looks fast enough on tape to me... Hell he was fast enough 14 times that we know of. Injured or not, he plays faster in pads than that time would indicate. Worth a shot in round 7.. We may not get much from him this year, but I've read a few places that he's our safety of the future. If he ends up being that, we got a steal. Don't forget that Antonio Brown was a 6th rounder...just because you get drafted towards the end of the draft doesn't mean you can't be a star in this league.
He played in the MAC against few NFL talented guys.
Hmmm, I don't think so.
now go make yourself a cheese omelet.
4.63 wouldn't finish in the top 10 of safeties this year. Reed was drafted 13 years ago when safeties were still hitters and could get their hands on WRs. Like Troy he learned how to play smarter football even if he didn't have the speed. Holliman may have been injured but he didn't have to run if he didn't want to. I've seen his tape and it doesn't look good to me. He takes horrible angles and either doesn't have the desire to tackle or is just afraid. He reminds me nothing of Brown. Brown was a great special teams player in college and played 3 seasons. He wasn't just a one year guy. Also Brown didn't have a huge weakness like Holliman. If Brown couldn't catch he probably wouldn't have been drafted at all.
What bothers me about Holliman is that he is only valuable when he is covering. Anything in front of him and you are playing with 10 guys on defense. He played in the MAC against few NFL talented guys. Again, I know he could make the team and it really isn't a big deal if he doesn't. He was worth the 7th round pick because of his upside. I just don't think his flaws are going to be easy to cover in the NFL.
Jairus Byrd ran a 4.6 and has shown the ability to compete at a high level. He was a ballhawk in College and came in and lead the league in INT his rookie year despite only playing 14 games. Not saying Holliman is going to have anywhere near that type of impact but I don't question his ability to make an impact at the NFL level because of his speed. Sherman only ran a 4.56 and no one questions his ability to make plays.4.63 wouldn't finish in the top 10 of safeties this year. Louisville is in the ACC not the MAC. Here was their schedule last year. Miami, Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Clemson, NC State, FSU, Boston College, Notre Dame, Kentucky and Georgia. Those are big time college programs. Plus he picked off Jameis Winston twice so don't diminish what he accomplished last year. Hopefully he learns to tackle and can produce at the next level

Hopefully he can learn to tackle as the team seems to have had problems teaching defenders to catch. He did have a shoulder injury and those type of things can also affect running as the movement is not as natural with out the injury. So lets say maybe he gets from 4.6 to 4.5 when healed not real fast but faster and maybe fast enough. At this point he might be worth his selection and he does have good upside. If all he does is play deep like ed reed and get interceptions he would be a huge benefit for us, if he flops we are not out much.
