Hey guys, 1st time poster here. I stop in and read the boards often and enjoy the insightful posts by many of you. I am a die hard fan and I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable, but by no means an expert. Hell I've never even played high school or college football so a lot of you have a leg up on me when it comes to schemes and how one LB projects better as a 4-3 DE with his hand in the dirt then a 3-4 OLB. Im completely lost when analysts talk about one player being a 2 technique and one being a 3 technique. So like I said, I'm not an expert, but by selecting an undersized corner in Senquez Golson, the Steelers have placed an emphasis on athleticism, speed and ball skills. I believe Golson was second in the nation in interceptions last year. Gerod Holliman, Safety out of Louisville led the nation in that category. The kids an absolute ballhawk. He had 14 interceptions last year and draws comparisons to Ed Reed. He and teammate James Sample are both still available. Sample is actually considered to be the better pro prospect because the big knock on Holliman is that he can't tackle, but with this shift in emphasis on turnovers and athleticism in the secondary I believe Holliman could be a diamond in the rough on the third day of the draft. We have thumpers at the safety position, but what we are lacking is a ballhawk that can take it to the house. The addition of Bud Dupree should help us force opposing QB's into quick throws and with a couple ballhawks in the secondary, especially in Nickle and dime packages, I believe we can improve on our pathetic turnover numbers. We have 5 more picks today and I would consider Holliman a great player to take a chance on in the later rounds. Opinions are welcome of course, would you guys consider this a wasted pick or value in the later rounds?
