We have not scored a single point in the fist quarter in the last 4 games and have scored 7 points total in the 3rd quarter in the last 6 games. That tells you all you need to know about his game planning , in game adjustments and play calling, ******* pitiful.

Teams could have adjusted to us. Early in the season the quick passing was a surprise to teams, along with Claypool. Once teams adjusted we did not and we have what we have now. We have talent on offense there is no reason we should be struggling as bad as we are. We have had a lot of drops, but those don't necessarily lead to points. You can only blame drops for so much

And there is a stat saying we left 39 points on the board with 17 drops. Execution is a big part of that.

Would've loved to hear the specifics on what exactly is going to be done to do that (fixing the offense).
 
Just listened to Ben's interview today. He said the past two games they haven't done much of the no huddle and calling the plays on the field. So yeah.. that garbage offense is strictly on Randy.

He also said that he's all for lining up under center and doing "whatever it takes to win games"..
 
How can you not like a guy who’s name sounds like “sphincter”?

They ran 2 plays out of the no huddle twice vs Buffalo, Ben passer rating when in the no huddle this season is 131.

I would love to see the formula for that. There can be no way anyone could determine that scientifically.

It is not even practical to completely overhaul a scheme in the middle of the season anyway, which is what's needed. That's something that has to be done in the offseason and training camp.

Some adjustments within the scheme can be made, but the offense itself is just so ****** that it's not going to suddenly become a well-oiled machine, regardless of the changes they attempt to make over the next month.

I still have no idea why Tomlin and Fichtner thought a spread offense strictly dependent on 0-10yd passes was part of a Superbowl recipe, but they're the professional coaches.

They don't need a complete overhaul. They need a competent play designer and play-caller, yes, but remember they were averaging 30 ppg the first half of the season. And DD, Pouncey and AV didn't just forget how to run block. I'm confident enough in those guys and Benny Snell IF someone (Matt Canada please) gets them back to basics and having them perform with at least some competence.

Big "if" there, I know, but it can be done IMO. Then look to draft & FA to help shore up running game.

He's right, they were too busy turning the ball over 1 or 2 plays into the no huddle at EOH and EOG...

The Steelers made some good coaching moves to bring in Austin, Bradley, Dunbar, and get rid of Porter. The offensive staff could use some work starting with OC. Besides these comments, the Steelers do the job of the defense by limiting themselves to short passes only on offense. They've limited Claypool rather than find new, creative ways to get him the ball. It's just not good.
 
The thing that I keep going back to is that all last year ben had minimal, if any, impact on the gameplanIng and the offense was almost identically over conservative crap with a meh to bad run game and no deepnpassing game of note... if the only problem is lack of practice what the **** has this bumpkin been doing the past 1 3/4!years?

Also he keeps defending the ultrashort pass game with obvious reliance on YAC... there are some things this guy who is supposed to be an nfl caliber OC should think about

1. If the only deep passes or intermediate passes you throw are token ones early and when you are trailing, the defense is going to pack the middle of the field... this will lead to jumped routes and few YAC because of quick tackles... it also will contribute to wrs dropping balls and alligator arming passes because they are looking for run lanes or bracing for hits...

2. No run game means more defenders rushing the passer or dropping in coverage .. short passing games do not remedy this

3. You need to throw the ball past the first down marker more often than not... this over-reliance on YAC To get chunk plays is not working.... you can either fix the deep passing game or fix the run game to fix the offense... either will open the other up, but the supersafe passing game is not going to fix anything

Unfortunately I think this has become "Randy's" identity...

This offense has been horribly run all season and was terrible last year. Fitchner has been at best derelict of duty on the gameplanning and playcalling... his players arent executing when the plays are working... we have no run game and no deep game


This D is being wasted for tge second season straight with utter hillbilly incompetence... fire this ****... there is plenty of time to salvage the postseason

The Steelers way is “better or worse” not making coaching changes during the year.

Ain’t happening.

Tomlin has been radically different than Cowher. He rarely (ever?) has fired a Coordinator. ARII seemed to make the decisions with Arians, LeBeau, Haley.

This is why I don’t think players play with urgency under Tomlin. They aren’t afraid of losing spots cuz they aren’t penalized.

Well, it looks like Art2 will be making the call again. because I read a couple days Randy's contract is up at end of season. hmm, Steelers bring in Canada this past offseason. seems to me that Randy won't be renewed, and Canada will be the new OC. which is why I will double down on a power struggle with those two.
