Draft Game? Why not...

Your score is: 7431 (GRADE: A)

Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 12 (L.A.): Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 14 (L.A.): Su'a Cravens, OLB/SS, Southern California (B)
Round 2 Pick 25: Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech (A)
Round 3 Pick 25: Joshua Garnett, OG, Stanford (A+)
Round 4 Pick 25: Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor (A+)
Round 7 Pick 8: Tre Madden, RB, Southern California (B)
Round 7 Pick 25: Daryl Worley, CB, West Virginia (A)

yeah I think I only traded once, as I know that could improve the score with more picks.

and also picking another team.

But I only play Steelers and don't do the trade thing often as I know the Steelers aren't big traders. Maybe one or two up or downs in a round.

like you got Reed and Ward... and picking up that G yinz think Foster is gone ?

Its a possibility. Mostly though it was a BPA scenario in that simulation. Even if Foster returns i would like to see us draft his eventual replacement.

I wonder with the lack of a 5th and 6th if they will entertain trading down.

I am thinking in the real draft they might have to bite the 1st round bullet if they want Butler. He is rising..

And I noticed on NFL.com that he made his rounds with visits......

Yeah I don't see him making it out of 1.

Colbert has said that the Steelers basically have two additional draft picks with Golson coming back and an expected compensatory pick coming their way.

I think the Steelers will be very open to trading back if they feel there's a player who is a need and fits the system they can get later. But I hope they wait until their time is ticking to pull the trigger. I do like Butler and his physical ability but he also has a lack of production for his athleticism. I think that is why I keep consistently seeing him ranked 7th or 8th by the draft community. So if the Steelers could trade down into the beginning part of the second round and pick up an extra 3rd or a 4th if we can snag a 6th or 7th. If you look at the late 1st and early second there's going to be some teams looking for a QB if they don't get one with a very early pick.

Arizona has Palmer but how many years can he keep playing? And he gets hurt a lot and you see what happens when he goes down the entire offense suffers. So they give us 29th(640), 129th(43) and 167(25) and their 2017 6th(15) for our 25th(720).

Or what if Cleveland goes with hometown guy Joey Bosa with the 2nd overall pick. Lynch, Cook, and Hackenberg all should be in that second tier of 1st round QB mix. Do you wait and see if they guy you want falls to you or do you go up and get your man? Cleveland could give up 32nd(590), 100(100) and 138(37) for the 25th(720).

Or what about Dallas and Romo? He has been hurt again and again and the Boys have no one to come in and maintain a pretty good team while he's out and what happens when he retires? You have a good team surrounded by no QB. 34th(560), 102nd(92), 132(40) and 192nd(15) and 2017 7th(15).

I think any of those trades would keep us in the running for Butler, Fuller, or even a Hunter Henry.

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 25: Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis (B)
Round 2 Pick 32 (DEN): Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech (A+)

Round 3 Pick 32 (DEN): Karl Joseph, SS, West Virginia (B)
Round 4 Pick 25: Maurice Canady, CB, Virginia (A)

Round 7 Pick 8: Dadi Lhomme Nicolas, OLB, Virginia Tech (A+)
Round 7 Pick 25: Antwione Williams, OLB, Georgia Southern (B+)

Paxton Lynch could be our Aaron Rodgers ... sitting behind Ben a few years and playing a few games before Ben retires.

Why wait to get the guy that you want when you can run to the podium as soon as you are on the clock?

Chess vs checkers. If the Steelers target a player and he's there and drafts him yes it can work out. It did with Casey Hampton. They easily could have traded an entire round down and still got Hampton but they got the guy they wanted and it worked out. Jarvis Jones is another example of a guy who probably could have been drafted long after we picked but we just ran to the podium and got him. So there's merit to that but if you can ad two additional draft picks and the guy you covet especially during a draft you have limited picks I just feel you wait see who's on the board and see if you can swing a deal. If they feel they can't get fair trade value by all means draft they guy you want. I just feel you take some calls and see if you can trade down.

My post was dripping with sarcasm. David DeCastro is probably the last draft pick that I thought was a no-brainer. Before that, probably Ben Roethlisberger. I agree that they should at least milk some clock and explore options. Give another team some time to think and see if there is an offer on the table.

This would be bad ***, although I don't know what the FO plans to do about TE. Think LG is much better value at 1.25 than DB/SS.

Top guard in the draft Josh Garnett from Stanford. 6-5 321 lbs. Bye Ramon

Without knowing what the Steelers have planned wit Beachum and Foster, it is hard to say. If both players go, I strongly consider Garnett in the first. He is a great fit and I absolutely love his character.

I could see us re-signing Foster and still drafting Garnett. If Garnett can beat out Foster in his rookie year, all the better. Either way we would have excellent depth at G for about 3 years. I think Beachum is gone. AV starts with either Adams or someone new as the backup swing tackle.

Round 1 Pick 25: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State (B)
Round 2 Pick 25: Su'a Cravens, OLB/SS, Southern California (B+)

I would literally bust a nut IF our draft turned out similar (buck it - if it was EXACTLY like) this:

Your score is: 7861 (GRADE: A)

Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 4 (S.D.): Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky (A+) - I traded back TWICE in the first and "oh lookie"!!! Instant pass rush upgrade!!!
Round 2 Pick 25: Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville (A+) - My monster in the middle. Thank you, God.
Round 3 Pick 1 (TENN): Joshua Garnett, OG, Stanford (B+) - Just in case Foster leaves - need another DeCastro-type of player up front.
Round 3 Pick 25: Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor (A) - Hey, Coach, he's over 6'0" tall - hope he can stick on the roster - he's a big DB, compared to Byron Maxwell.
Round 4 Pick 4 (S.D.): Karl Joseph, SS, West Virginia (B) - The backend has just been solidified with TWO big hitters and playmakers patrolling back there.
Round 4 Pick 25: Kamalei Correa, OLB, Boise State (A+) - This pick allows the youngster to learn under the BEST - James Harrison.
Round 5 Pick 1 (TENN): Aaron Burbridge, WR, Michigan State (A+) - Only an idiot would leave a playmaker like Burnbridge on the board this long. Reminds me a lot of Anquan Boldin...
Round 6 Pick 4 (S.D.): Jake Coker, QB, Alabama (C+) - Homer pick that is already a better option than Landry Jones and Mike Vick combine.
Round 7 Pick 8: Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida (A) - AB can no retire from punt returning - and this kid has some juice at WR too...
Round 7 Pick 25: Henry Krieger Coble, TE, Iowa (A) - being compared to Luke Willson isn't a bad thing in the 7th round. Is it???

I did what would never happen....trade away future 1st rounders. I also loaded up with d-line men, they were there later than should have been but figure we would be incredibly fresh late in the year by the rotations we could use with this depth.

Your score is: 8457 (GRADE: A)

not fond of trading away first rounders and for a LT?

The first rounds ended up being traded for these picks:
Round 1 Pick 12 (N.O.): Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame (A+)
Round 2 Pick 17 (IND): Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis (A)
Round 3 Pick 15 (N.O.): Austin Johnson, DT, Penn State (A+)
Round 4 Pick 14 (N.O.): Karl Joseph, SS, West Virginia (A-)
Round 4 Pick 18 (IND): Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor (A+)
Round 5 Pick 16 (IND): De'Runnya Wilson, WR, Mississippi State (A+)

Like I said I would never see the Steelers trading 1st rounders........but they added a lot of depth for the future.

Sure but it would have been nice to know that when I did the draft. You would figure since you sign up for an account, it would record your drafts, not just the score. Seems very basic.

You can find out what scores you has=d as well as what date you played.

And you can copy and paste after you play.....

if we are more about now it would be nice to see one impact player from our 1st pick instead of just depth.

Especially with arguably being two to three D players away from having a solid D.

Have done about 5 and this is the best so far. Really doubt anything would go this way, but it would be sweet.

Soooo...I gave up a 2,4,7,7 plus next years first to take Hargreaves(the only way I spend nx years 1st). Then I turned this years first into every other pick you see but the 3rd rounder. IMO, this is how you stock your team.
