Dhb

From a USA today article talking about how Great Ben is, but also mentioning the emergence of DHB...
Veteran journeyman Heyward-Bey matched his season total from last year with five receptions in a single game. Did Heyward-Bey suddenly become the deep threat Oakland wanted him to be when they selected him with the seventh overall pick? Or did a quarterback, who’s much smarter than he’s given credit for, find a way to work him into an amazingly explosive offense that goes as far as he takes it?

That ****'s just funny right there. BOOM, Career year in just 4 games baby!

They are basically using him as they did when "60 Minutes" was here. Hes nearly as fast as Wallace and has hands on par with Mike. And just like Mike, he can take the top off the defense. That one big play in the 4th, he lulled the defender (trotted) then you can see him kick into his next gear and got separation.

You have to keep in mind with Bryant's addiction issues the likelihood that he'll avoid a year long suspension for long is slight. DHB, is probably going to see plenty of game time.

Perhaps, but there are whispers that the players union may be out to get the weed testing taken out of the CBA... If the league is looking for a enticing and meaningless carrot to dangle when the reorganization of the commish's powers are taking place, that may be it... no weed testing makes a half dozen of undesirable guys much more desirable all of a sudden

When they signed him last year, I thought they may have envisioned him as being able to offer at least some of what Wallace did. Speed spreads the field, giving more space to the other weapons we have. Boy, would I love to hang 40 on the Rats.

I think Wallace has better hands, but good to see DHB improving. Nice decoy to have

Finally on a good team, and no longer burdened by high expectations, could Darius Heyward-Bey be blossoming into another weapon for the Steelers? His confidence really seems to be growing with each catch. If so, what an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver. How on earth can you cover speed like Bey, and Bryant, and still keep an eye on a monster like Brown, while having another solid option in Wheaton. This doesn't even take into consideration having to worry about Bell. The potential combinations are mindboggling.

Or Miller for that matter.

Start really getting nasty and make a lineman an eligible receiver on some downs. It'll make the D's heads explode.

Villanueva was a WR & TE at Army. ;)

Really great to see such a hard working unselfish humble guy like DHB reaping the fruits of his labor and hard work....another weapon to add to our offense.
You can tell Big Ben has a lot of confidence in DHB.

I also credit the WR coach, he has them all either developing, contributing, making plays.

Did you and Coach have a sleep over???

Be interesting to see what happens to the roster when Bryant comes back. DHB is actually balling. Its cool to watch a guy who struggled as a high pick get a rebirth. Maybe we can use him as a trade chip when Bryant comes back to get a draft pick back for next year.

that was a hell of a catch on the TD, no one would've bet on him making it

Anytime DHB catches a ball using his hands vice the "basket catch" method I am ecstatic. He has great speed, decent route running ability, and now showing his hands are there. You're spot on....that was a great TD catch.

I think Bryant might be the one being shipped out, love the talent but he is a huge risk now

That had to have been his best game as a Steeler. Word was that ben worked extra with bay and Wheaton this past week. If those two stepped up would take a lot of pressure off Brown and if Bryant could get his head on straight look out.

Bryant is 1 bust away from being suspended for a year and each subsequent bust is another year...

You DON'T trade the next guy behind him. You trade him! IF you can. I mean, I like Bryant. I think he showed something amazing last year. But let's face it. The dude's addiction wheel's fell off in 1 frickin' year. He isn't going to be able to hold it together.

I'm sure he wants to. I'm sure he'll try. But he isn't going to be able to. Go ahead, use this as bulletin board material, but it won't matter. Addiction is addiction. And I sincerely doubt he believes he has enough of a problem to own up to it. Which means, he's going to get busted again eventually. It's not if, it's when. I'm sorry. I hate to be the negative Nancy here. I hope he has a monster season and they can get something for him. I really do. I even hope he does well on another team. I wish him well. Honest. I just understand how addiction works. He doesn't believe he has a problem. But when you've been busted 3 times in a year despite the fact that you have THAT much to lose... You have a problem. A serious problem.

There has to be someone to reel this kid in. He shows all the talent to be a great Steeler receiver, but he has to be mentored and counseled on what he has to lose. 4 game suspension isn't going to impact him. Hell, he might be getting high right now. Hope not, but if left to his own devices he might fall further. I really have "high" hopes he rights his ship and gets it together for a long Steeler career. It would be so sad to watch him go the road of Santonio Holmes, but if he does....Get us SEVEN before we trade your ***.

is it possible to have a 24/7 chaperon to take care of him? I mean if I were his brother, father, uncle or whatever relative that cares for him, I'd be all over him watching out he doesn't smoke again, reminding him on all the million dollars he will have on the bank to buy all the pineapple express or whatever is the flavour of the month after his career is over. Just don't be stupid.
