College Bowl/Playoff Thread

Hackenburg is turning pro. Why? Is he projected to go high? Or has conventional wisdom about when to turn pro changed?

Commentators were saying the QB class is weAK this year and it gives him a good chance to go higher than would otherwise.

Probably because he wants to stay alive long enough to get paid. He was hammered this season and was even hurt today in the bowl game against Georgia.
yep....and he "forgot" to thank Franklin on the way out....can't really blame him for the way he feels, but he shoulda done the adult thing.

My only issue this year was many "analysis" and even fans were saying how the SEC was overrated and that the big 10 was just as good if not better. I listened several times to Cowherd repeat the mantra of how the SEC was living off of past success and how they were going to get rolled in the bowl games because the Big 10 was so much better. I'm sure he'll spin it Monday to fit his argument.

Granted, I don't listen to Cowherd, but I never heard that anywhere else. But I do agree with that much of what he said. I felt as a conference, the SEC was below par this year. I feel like the SEC gets a little bias off past success. But I disagree that the Big 10 is better as a conference. That is laughable. All of that said, it would be hard to argue against Alabama. They show up every year. Game after game. In fairness, the conference falls off quite a bit after Alabama (this year, anyway). That said, many of the teams after Bama are better than most teams in most conferences. The results bear that out. However, if Iowa plays in the B10 East, they are a 7 win team at best. Northwestern is a 6 win team. As I said, the B10 west is garbage. Neither of those teams should have been in the bowl games they were in.

This is the worst/least competitive bowl season in memory.

The Big 10 and Big 12 have really been exposed over the past week.

I am genuinely surprised PSU not only scored 17 points, but did it with a back up. Since Franklin arrived on the scene, the offense has been terrible to say the least. The defense is decent, but ever since BOB went to Houston, the offense has been anemic. Good on State. I thought they were gonna get rolled.

Georgia has had a bad pass defense the past couple of seasons. Not surprised here. I honestly thought PSU would've beat UGA. Greyson Lambert is not an Aaron Murray. QB play has been horrible at UGA given the fact that Chubb got down to injury. So UGA was a one dimensionsal team with an ok passing game if Michel/Marshsall have big games

Georgia is going through a ton of changes since their coach was fired a few weeks ago. I'm surprised they played as well as they did.

I'm not sure why people think the SEC was down. What do they have to do? Win every single bowl game by 25+ points? They are also played higher teams from other conferences. And some on here bitched that they were ranked too high. How could Ole Miss be 12th when Northwestern had a better record by one game? I guess we know why now. Hell they were destroyed Tenn who is probably the 5th best SEC team. Even in the polls there is only one top 10 SEC team... why? Is Ole Miss worse than Iowa, FSU or MSU?

Like I said I don't understand what else they can do.

Houston might be better than all of them

As a Penn State grad, I didn't think Penn State belonged in a bowl game this year. I was glad they made it look respectable but turned it off when it got to 24-3. I wouldn't draft any PSU player higher than the second round and then only on defense. Hackenburg is overrated - scatter armed at the most inopportune times and reads defenses like they were in Chinese. OLine wasn't good but he has a Roethlisberger-like ability to hold on to the ball too long and take sacks. I still can't figure out why he now has passing records over solid college QBs like Collins and Blackledge. I think he would have excelled under Bill O'Brien and Franklin ruined him.

D-Line was supposed to be a team strength but they were gashed repeatedly by running teams - even Army looked like they might beat them.

Unreal. I know TCU was down at least 31-0 at one point.

Thanks to Facebook, I caught some of the 3rd overtime.

When you're at the top people love to see you down(SEC vs other conferences)

I think most middle of the road SEC teams(Georgia, Florida, Tenn, Miss St) would have a damn good regular season showing against out of conference opponents. The Alabamas and LSUs will continue to be in Nat Championship contention as long as they control the trenches. Big guys on the line on both sides of the ball. The SEC wasnt down but not doing so hot

hell of a comeback for TCU, but damn Oregon......way to ******* quit at the half....

Tcu game was cool but other than than. Who gives a rats rear end
