College Bowl/Playoff Thread

how many school's fans are sitting there saying, "damn, we could be closer than that bullshit"

I did not see Alabama beating MSU like a drum. Whenever they started rolling, it turned into an *** kicking. I thought that would be a good game. Oh well.

Um...Who is Keegan Michael Key?

As far as the bowl games go, most of them sucked. Lot's of blow outs. Too many bowl games, hence too many poor match up's.

Clemson has a lot of great athletes. Too much for Oklahoma. Michigan State will have their hands full stopping them.
I know this was sarcasm...
No way that was a TD, not that it would have mattered. The guy didn't have possession until he was OOB.

MSU should be embarrassed by this gameplan. Bama is not doing anything tricky on defense. Pretty much just cover 2 with man underneath. Pretty much what they did all year. I have no idea what MSU is even trying to do. It looks like their gameplan was for Cook to look deep on every single play then get sacked.

Your DVR is BROKEN.

Slow mo the entire catch---the receiver high points the ball with two hands but POSSESSES the ball with his LEFT hand and forearm and never steps OOB before that.

You (the public) wanted to see a motivated Bama squad - now you have it.

Funny how fans react until the get in the stadium. This year's Bama team is like none I've seen in the past - total team on all three phases of the game.

All the best to Clemson on the 11th.

Was it just me or did Kirk Herbstreet sound like he had one too many Red Bull's last night? Geeze was he irritating.

The bowl season is very lackluster the early bowls are only viewed by fans of the teams playing and then not all that intently. Even the big bowl games that used to generate excitement don't' any longer because there are only two games of significance and they were stinkers last night. If I were running the NCAA I would shorten the regular season by having teams remove one cupcake out of conference game and then put 16 teams in the season ending tournament this means you need four weekends to determine the champion. The conferences that have a championship game would still be done on the same weekend as the current end of season. You need 15 games to leave one team as champion so pick 15 bowls and make them part of the National Championship and play the games in 4 weeks. Now 15 bowls have meaning and you will certainly get more sports fans viewing because each game is a win or go home. I might watch the "What's A Matter U" bowl game if the #4 and $5 teams are playing to move on. I'm not wasting my time watching that bowl game if Northwestern Nowhere University is playing Southeastern Overhere University.

The other 20 some bowl games can continue to play games and give some other schools exposure they can't draw any less excitement than they are now and 40 other teams get to play in a bowl. As it currently stands fans are waiting for last night and it was clunker at least there would be some excitement leading up to those games. I know finals need to be taken into account and some other things, but IMO, this is a way to increase viewership of bowl games that have absolutely no viewership outside of the fans of the teams playing.

I'll use Pitt as a for instance, since I'm a grad. Their final game was 11/27 (the championship game was a week later, 11/27 would be championship weekend), if they reduce the regular season by 1 game, then Pitt is done 11/21 and the championship game would be 11/27 - 11/29 timeframe. The NCAA now has 7 weeks to play the necessary games in my scenario above to crown the champion. They could play almost every other week and still be done on or around the same day they will be done this year with the champion. Now 15 bowl games are generating greater revenue, interest is far higher by the casual fan and you get a true champion.

Did Michigan State get off the bus for their game last night?

It was 0-0 for most of the 1st half. MSU threw an interception near the end zone right before the half. I think it demoralized them and they just caved.

Too much logic in this post.

Funny - I thought, and this is just me, that MSU played hard but Bama played harder. Bama had the better game play and they executed it to near perfection all night in all three phases of the game. Kinda like, "we've been here before and crapped the bed---but we don't want to do that again".

I give much credit to Lane Kiffin's gameplan and his ability to get his QB Coker to look like the second coming of Joe Willy..

Alabama's offense, even without their Heisman winning running back being a factor put too much pressure on MSU's offense to keep pace, which against Alabama's defense, is almost an impossible feat..

Clemson will give Alabama more of a challenge, especially with their athletes on offense, but if Kiffin can keep Coker playing like that, it will be a difficult challenge.

I think he was big factor as the defense was focused on stopping him and got compromised.

Sorry Pap. I watch most of them, and it's not out of loyalty. I graduated from SDSU and didn't even watch them dominate in their bowl this year. It's a great sport, and I love the bowls. Going to watch many of them today.
