Coates out for a few weeks

I think that twitter shot illustrates when I broke down Hunter's film. He high points the football, by jumping and extending toward it, with both hands. That is the slow motion version of his highlight reel.

Today, I have Hunter as receiver #7, just behind DHB. Since Sammie is PUPed, DHB is the best ST wing we have on the kick coverage teams. He has an advantage because of it. I will break down DHB next to see how he compares technically to Hunter.

I say Hunter has moved up to the #5 WR. He's making some did you see that type of plays in camp. A big guy, with speed, and better hands than Coates.

IMO make 53 man Brown, Bryant, Rogers, Hunter, DHB, JuJu. Ayers and Hamilton getpractice squad and Coates starts season on IR.

only reports I've seen just say that he and Rogers are the front runners, but last night was the first time AB has participated in PR drills.....Ayers was out, I have not heard why yet

I'll bet AB was in due to AYERS being out. I think maybe the coaching staff says we are going to relieve AB to preserve his health and hopefully get another guy back there. AYERS needs this oppurtunity big time. I hope he isn't out to seriously injured. If that was the case we would have heard something I think. IF AYERS secures PR duties,..........He makes the 53

It bums me out...if Coates could just get healthy. Watching some of his highlights the talent is there...he's just got to get healthy again

Healthy and get his head back on straight. A major part of his problem at the end of last year was mental, not physical. And, so far in OTA's he was still dropping the ball. Missing this much camp, he really won't have the time to get it all figured out unless we have other injuries and have to keep him as the No. 6 WR.

He had 2 injuries requiring surgery after the season.

OTA's is "football in shorts" and doesn't count.....

Seems to be no downside to keeping Coates on the PUP and bringing him back later if he is able. Seems unlikely anyone would trade even a 7th for a guy on PUP.
