Coates out for a few weeks

Well the injury to Coates clearly puts Ayers foot in the door. Im thinking JuJu could be an adequate replacement for Bryant. Rogers is more of a AB. So do you want a third big guy or a third shifty guy. He just has to outperform Hunter. I have no idea how they will be able to evaluate Coates. If the injury happened in the last few weeks, bad luck. If it was earlier I realky have a hard time understanding how he would be missing the start of camp. Proceedure should have been done immediately.

I have to agree. Ayers would be the guy I'd take a flyer on.

2 catches over the last 2nd half of the regular season.

for 14 yards.

That's a LOT of non-production and a great deal of opportunity for the corners to cheat up on Brown as well as a safety.

That's what makes Bryant so valuable, a true #2. It will take pressure of AB and make the entire passing game step up a notch.. You and I both know this so now it's just a question of keeping poison frog boy protected from himself.

Salute the nation

Ayers foot was already in the door, while AB, Bryant and JuJu are locks, no one else is. Rogers has a leg up given his performance last season, but it is not like he will be handed the starting spot or even a roster spot if he can not show to be better than those fighting behind him.

Not even close. Rogers only has to do what he did and he is a lock. No he cant **** the bed and drop everything. But really outside AB no one can. But he just has to do what he did. 1st pre season game he will get a 1/4. Same with the second. Then he plays half to 3/4. If the third. The guys below could outplay him as the year unfolds. No problem. Not at training camp. He wont be cut. The bubble was Coates, Ayers,Hunter. Now I suspect it is Ayers,Hunter/Coates

that is why I say he has a leg up on the others....he has a bit of room for error, but is not a sure fire lock to be on the team, but I expect he will be.....

Oh and my son reminded me that Hamilton is also in tge mix of Ayers, Hunter, Coates. He played substantially more than Ayers.

Hamilton is just a lesser version of Bryant, coates, or hunter....not sure how he beats them out. Ayers is the most versatile WR, he has been used in all three WR spots. His best bet though is to be able to take the PR duties away from AB. He had high and low ankle sprains he was fighting through last year in training camp so hopefully a healthy Ayers can show the skills to relieve AB.....

Hamilton was called up last year because we had no one. We lost Bryant, Wheaton, Eli was banged up, Hey Bay was banged up, and Ayres was banged up, so Hamilton got the call up. I don't like his hands at all. Even less than Coates and Bryant. I think he is only comfortable catching the ball with his body, and you will not be a good receiver this league as a body catcher. Hamilton was productive catching the ball with his body, until the NE game. Then he was exposed.

I love Hunter. I think he's going to have to beat out Hey-Bey for a spot. Unless the Steelers keep 7. We have a long camp, so I'm interested to see how well he fights. A lot of Bolden in this kid!

Tough luck for Coates but I hope we cut him loose to prove himself somewhere else.

"First the Fat Boys break up and now this. There's nothing to believe in." - Bony T from the movie Boomerang.

Someone should check Tonya Harding and DHB's checking accounts for any unexpected transfers.

AB, Bryant and JuJu are definitely locks but Rogers is as close to a lock as you can get. Everyone else is fighting for the last 2 spots, assuming we keep 6. I hope we don't keep someone just for ST's.

Coates has proven nothing, he lacked on special teams and as far as catching the ball, iffy at best. I see him gone unless the rest of the receivers fall on their face.

Coates is saying now after hearing some criticism, that he isn't out for months. That it should be only a few week time period...........

haven't read anything saying he would be out for months..all the articles I read say between 3-6 weeks

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true....

Coates can't afford to even miss days, let alone weeks. I really see little chance of him making the team unless all other WR's just suck and he comes back and miraculously learned how to catch again.

not real hard to catch with no one trying to knock your head off

not but even coates can......not real impressed by catches made on a simple drill.....

Coates wouldn’t have caught that without jamming a goddamn finger... Good to know nothing impresses you. Respect my opinions instead of bagging on them, and I’ll respect yours. Sound good champ?

kinda funny that I have to respect you being impressed by a guy jumping and catching a ball in a simple drill, but you can't respect my opinion that it is not that big of a deal. Maybe coates would have dropped it...but Ayers, AB, JuJu and even DHB would have made it look just as easy as Hunter did.....
