"Brown-out" Sunday had nothing to do with an injury

wow. extremely disappointed. if, in fact, brown wasn't actually benched and just flat refused to participate, he needs to be gone. either gone, or suffer a SERIOUS suspension from the team, like at least 4-6 games.

this team absolutely disgusts me.

Brown seems to have some serious mental issues in general. He seems to have a good work ethic, but has temper tantrums. I think the steelers should force him to sell some counseling. Wonder if Tomlin is the one who he has issues with, or if it's other players. Brown should have been handled after the first incident, but now he is just out of control. I would hate to see Brown leave, but his conduct is definitely hurting the team. Hopefully he gets his head screwed on straight in and out of football

complete lack of emotional maturity. it's almost always the culprit when someone acts the way he acts.

Now we know where Bell got his me me me attitude. AB got paid with it. Bell figures why not "me" also.

Are they mental issues or does he not know how to manage his talent, fame, and fortune?

I'm going to disagree with you there. It starts with RESPECT, and Tomlin pretty much letting AB get away with anything he wants until he has to use discipline is not the way to handle it.

When a new head coach starts, everyone walks the line.

That's a great point, Coach.

Tomlin has clearly allowed Brown, who was once upon a time a featureless sixth-round draft choice, to turn into a me-first monster diva. He's clearly lost control of Brown, the locker room, and the team in general. The Steelers need a new head coach to come in, clean house, lay down the law, and get these talented players on the same page with team-oriented goals.

I say trade Tomlin, not Brown. Like people always say, Tomlin would have another head coaching job in no time if they fired him...trade the guy for a draft pick instead. It's time to move on.

I get the comparison but let's please not compare Holmes and AB lol AB is on a whole other stratosphere. I don't think Brown would have any issues performing elsewhere (sans a team with a non threat at QB.)

Holmes eventually came around and understood what he had in Pittsburgh. Sadly, I just don't know if AB will ever become that self-aware. Sad.

You're right, we shouldn't compare Santonio and Antonio -- one of them was the MVP of the Super Bowl.

Would the Steelers be subjected to the huge salary cap hit when trading or releasing a player who does things that are detrimental to the team?

You better believe they would. It's not happening unless they want to take that huge cap hit.

That's an interesting article....sheds new light on who AB is as a person. I remember during the 2016 season when AB was recording the post game stuff in the Locker Room it was Mean Joe Greene who said that AB should be released from the team for his actions as he was putting himself first before the team. Many people including myself scoffed at Mean Joe's comments thinking he was crazy. Maybe Mean Joe Greene was spot on when he mentioned releasing AB based on his selfish actions putting himself before the team. That was the same season when AB made the Immaculate Extension vs the Rats on X-mas day and just weeks later that happened....looking back I think Greene was 100% right about how the Steelers organization should have handled it. Instead we gave him a ridiculous contract 4 year $68 Mil deal....making him the highest paid WR in NFL.

So how is it ok for Tomlin to put out the bullshit injury story? This team is a mess. No wonder they played like **** against a C grade Bungles team. And Ben wants to come back for more of this?

Brown got upset that Roethlisberger wanted to run a hot read over again during a walk-through, so coaches sent another player to run the play, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Brown got upset, left practice and talked with Roethlisberger afterward, telling the quarterback that he felt underappreciated and had issues with people in the organization, the source told Schefter.

He's upset over a hot read option during a ******* walk-through, Ben and then other people inside the organization? So then he skips the rest of practice, the Saturday walk-through and actually expects to play?

I guess Tomlin really has the inmates running the asylum.

I got the impression it was Tomlin's decision. If it was indeed a coaches' decision, I don't know why they hid behind the knee injury because there is no doubt that story is going to get out, especially if they missed the playoffs. I hope it was Tomlin who benched him and I hope that he clearly communicated that with Brown in a timely manner. I don't necessarily think Tomlin has to address it with the team as long as he handled things appropriately with Brown.

Brown had a bizarre year. He went off on reporters and then shows up to camp in a helicopter. He wasn't on the same page with Ben all season, despite the two being the most dynamic QB-WR duo for the past four or five years. That chemistry doesn't just disappear. If Brown doesn't feel appreciated by the organization, I don't even know what to say. The guy is front and center all of the time. He needs to get out of his own head on that one.

It's disappoint this is what stands out about this team. It seems like you have veteran leadership with Heyward and Pouncey, but the divas on this team don't follow the lead. Ben is in his own category of leadership/drama, so no words for him. But this team has a lot of guys who I really think are about the team and want to win: Heyward, Tuitt, Haden, the entire offensive line and great young character players with Watt, JuJu, and Conner, the foundation is there, the focus from the top down is not.

No doubt Tomlin should've just come out with the truth. But can you imagine the circus and uproar if their star WR was whining about a walk-through & decided to skip practices before their final game of the season that could determine whether they get into the playoffs or not? I'm sure Tomlin thought about this one carefully and perhaps he thought the circus and distraction wasn't going to be worth it, but he also has to rein these idiots in already.

Not a fan of Tomlin at all right now, but I really can't be too upset w/ him when I think about the circus this would've caused a couple days before their final game.

Broncos requested permission to interview former Titans' HC and Steelers' OL coach Mike Munchak, per source.

When it rains it pours.

I heard the Packers, Dolphins & Browns are also interested. Can't say I'm surprised with the HC vacancies right now.

Lying makes it worse. Now he looks like a lying fool. He didn't have to comment much about it. He could have just said that AB was suspended from the game. Obviously what he did was distracting as hell because the players knew the coach was lying and he didn't even discuss it with them in their meeting. Just the fact that he lied about it means he may have blown it out of proportions. If it isn't a big deal then act like it isn't a big deal. Covering it up makes it seem like a bigger issue that it was. He made it larger than it had to be.

so do you care about "optics" or do you care more about keeping **** in-house and under control?

We need new principal to keep the divas In Check. The **** house won’t get under control with Tomlin.

I’m not opposed to trading Brown if Tomlin will never be fired. Two mid to high first round picks and say a 3rd plus the cap relief? Deal. Send him to Oakland.

Brown has been a great player but he’s getting up there in age. He might have 1-2 more really good seasons left.

If he's lucky and doesn't go totally bat-**** crazy. Wouldn't surprise me if he fails a drug test or two either. We are watching the guy go into full self-destruction mode. Sad..

I'm hoping there is a real top notch investigative report done on what's really been going on from AB to Ben to Tomlin and anything else. I know they didn't even make the playoffs but with the Stars on the team and their stories franchise it would be nice to see the truth about what the real problems are. Hopefully Tomlin is a big part of the problem and he goes and they can bring in a coach that lays down the law and puts some fire under their pants and tries to squeeze out one last Ben SB....after that it's going to be a bunch of young players who need to be reigned in from day one in a few years anyway. Our line is older now as well as our QB, and of course AB. Too much change is not good but not enough change isnt good either. I hate Tomlin but putting that aside I think it's just a healthy thing to do is to have some change and if you bring in the right coaching staff you can reign in AB. Let's make the obvious clear.....Tomlin isn't making this team better by staying at this point but AB is. That's the cold truth and even though Brown may be digressing emotionally he obviously has reached a point of no return with Tomlin. Brown is a 30 year old HOF receiver. They don't grow on trees. Give another coach a chance to straighten him up because obviously it ain't gonna be Mike.

Lastly and most importantly I have often said that all of us on here ***** and moan but do squat about it except come on here. Some say well I vote with my pocketbook but that does squat too....that's a silent voice replaced by another wallet. People organized are powerful. Seriously if we want to get Tomoin removed (if he is the problem) then we can make it happen. What can we do to be heard. Social media, letters. Protests, rallies.....seriously if we want him removed we can be loud.....the minority owners have been a voice for a while.....combine that with a hundred thousand fans and you might be surprised.

And I realize lots of you are funny ******* and full of sarcasm but come on it's time to organize and make a difference....who wants to start a Facebook page or start a petition or start a rally or whatever.....I personally want him gone.

Wow, Ryan Clark was on with Scott Van Pelt tonight. Said that the Steelers "need to shop Antonio",that its time to move on and rebuild the team's culture

Not ready to move on

nope.
