I don’t understand how this is still a good decision for him. He’s given up over $6M, and more devastatingly for him, he’s gotten fat and out of shape and is putting the questions in every NFL GM’s mind “does he really want this? Will he be in shape and not rusty if we offer him a massive contract?”
How can you trust any of these things right now if you’re, say, Jon Gruden?

What do you mean "don't forget". A missed test counts as failed. Why it failed is irrelevant. Im talking about the logic of his decision not to sign the $30m contract, not the Steelers logic in only offering that. Failing or passing drug tests is completely within his control. He was willing to het on that.
Forgetting the $ amount, if your company offered you 2x your current salary as a guarantee and less than what you think you can make over the following 3 years, do you take it? Unless one thing happens (injury) you are 90% sure another company will offer you a better deal next year. With the way some teams throw away $, that 90% is, probably higher.
Bakari is a terrible agent and a liar. He stated $10M was the signing bonus, now, in the article, It's 17M?? **** you. Now I don't trust him at all, and the signing bonus, i can fairly estimate was closer to $20-22M
Transition tags don't really give NFL teams a benefit, unless they want the league to set the market and retain that player. I don't think the Steelers would ever trans tag him.
Now Bell has until the week of the Steeler's 9th game to sign. He has to be rostered for 6 weeks for his season to accrue. So before the 9th game with a 2 week roster exemption, gives him 6 weeks on the nose. Steelers are on a Thursday game that week, so 11/5 is ideal. Otherwise, he could sign the day before the Ravens game, to attempt a game check, that is unless the Steelers exempt him, which they will.
If he signs at all after 11/7, and is placed on the 2 week exempt list, he will not have any benefit to playng this season, and probably will hold out the entire year.
If he does that, the Steelers can franchise tag him again (hopefully non exclusive this time) so the Steelers gain 2 first rounders for this mess.

It’s not a sound decision. Anytime you leave millions go out the back door like he did that’s truly irresponsible and plain stupid. You will never ever recoup the money lost and it keeps adding up week by week.

Cope I think as I have since August and even posted such thats the plan, sign just in time to have 2018 qualify for s season. Now the two week exemption period really makes this mess even more dicey. That may make him think to just forfeit the entire season and take his chances with the Steelers using the non exclusive tag. Got to wonder if he’s having second thoughts about this mess and regrets not signing the offer in July.

So is he really being tested right now? Anyone have proof? That is where I am going with this if no one in fact can verify he has been tested lately.
Nobody can make me believe he is so dumb he can't count how much money he is losing by setting out this year. There has to be another reason. And I am betting that is what it is at this point.
Is there a scenario that even if he does show before the 9th game, the Steelers don't put the tag in front of him to sign? Is he in shape to play, or more importantly, can he pass a drug test?
He's not currently an NFL employee so no he's not being tested. I would hope that he's not dumb enough to be doing drugs just before coming back to the team. The whole delay is to avoid being traded to a team that he doesn't ant to go to. He wants the whole free agency razzmatazz being wined and dined and told how fabulous he is and how wanted he is. So with the two week roster exemption, he will come back, do the bare minimum and then be available for the final six games to be accredited for an NFL year.
While I think he has either received some bad advice or has made some poor decisions you can't blame him for looking out for himself. The downside is that many teams will be thinking twice about just how much to give this guy particularly when they see Connor doing an A- impression of Bell back there for the price of a third round pick.
IMO, if Bell was smart he'd get his agent to organise a trade to the Eagles. They badly need a quality back and he would be playing for a contender. Maybe he just wants to go somewhere with 0% state tax? Who knows what motivates him?

AR2 has already said they would use the transition tag on Bell next year. The hope would be to get draft picks or a trade done. Remember that transition tag comes at 25% more than his paid salary this year which shrinks by the week.
Bell has ****** himself into LESS money next year by sitting. There's no way we would have franchise tagged him for a 3rd year in a row.

If what you say is true then YES you are right about BELL jacking himself severely. I thought next year's tag number was the average of the highest 5 paid or 125% of this years salary pending which is higher. Clarification needed

2017 efforts. 4.0 yards a rush = below average by staring running back standards. Wake up & accept the facts. IMO Bell greatly benefits from the OL and players around him.
James Conner is out producing Bell and he's only going to get better as he's a reality new starter.
Bell is a narcissist. And typical of those types, he wants/needs to be in the spotlight. That "thing" that changed when Gurley got paid? It was simply that had Bell realized that if he had taken the Steelers last offer, he would have claimed the title of NFL's highest paid RB .... for a couple of months. And then the story would have been about Gurley. Bell thinks that he's dictating/shaping media coverage by being away for so long. Also, the "hold out" (for lack of a better term) keeps his name in the media (Food for the narcissist's soul). Now, as Conner has not only not flopped, but provided an A grade result in duplicating most of the thing's Bell brings to the field, the story has changed on him again. From "When is Bell reporting?" to "Should we/why would we sit Conner when Bell comes back?". The story not being totally about him? LeVeon can't stand it.
Personally, no matter what Conner says about their relationship, I believe Bell was absolutely sure Conner would flop. Then he could "ride in on the white horse" and save the season. Thus making management realize he was worth every penny he was demanding. Didn't happen that way and I don't think Bell had a Plan B. So he's sitting at home pouting and extending his little bit of drama because it keeps his name in the media.

However, you're cherry picking with Bell's stats. ONE year? That's what you're using to back up your claim that he's over rated? One year. How about using his career stats (including reception related stats, which you conveniently left off of your one year/one category citation).? Let's see where Bell stacks up historically with his career stats. I'd bet it's not in the over rated category.
That said, I hope he does sit out the year. Trans/Non-Exclusive tag his *** and move him for picks.

Why not offer substance as to why you disagree? You demonstrated zero evidence on how the assertion involved "ignorance."
I will offer that, first of all, Bell lacks top speed. When has he taken runs 80 yards like other top backs do?

ONE ******* YEAR. What about the prior 3 years with 4.7+ ypc? Generally, you'd give the most recent year more weighting, but not so much as to ignore some pretty damn good production. you know, if you understood statitstics.
For that slow start in 2017, do you think the 7 sacks ben suffered in the first 3 or 4 games, then didn't have very many in the next few games, which, not coincidently, coincided with Bell's production might point to an issue with the OL? Especially, if you actually watched the games and could see the OL was not performing up to snuff? you know, if actually watching games instead of reading a stat sheet?
