Bell might not return in 2018, advised he won’t be paid while on exempt list

Yeah Drink. Boucher’s, Dulac and the others said the third tag amount would be QB money. That isn’t happening with Bell. Snyder would do it, but not Art2.

Ike, I'm not advocating they do it I'm just laying it out there the reprocussions of the third tag. I want BELL gone in the worst way but also would like maximum compensation. The B-E-S-T scenerio would be for him to be so F-in stupid so as NOT to fulfill current TAG contractual year........then PITTSBURGH gets another year, same price as this (I think but hope adjusted to lose Petterson influence) and re-designate different tag option. One can ON LY hope............

I really don't believe in any further wrangling or any of it. Get him on the field. Get what you can. Be done with him and move on. It's like a divorce with spouses continuing to live together for financial reasons. Best you can do is be done with it ASAP.

The transition tag is much cheaper. It is based on what he makes this season(Franchise Tag). The Steelers could/would argue it should be based on the games he actually gets paid for which would make it cheaper than this year's franchise tag.
 
I think it was pretty well known the Steelers were going to choose to use the two-week exemption and not pay Bell from the start of the season. They are spot on with this. You don't pay a guy who sat out all season to wear a sweatsuit on the sideline while he gets into game shape.

True AR2 said that, but after week 9, that tag is moot. The only option would be to franchise again. You don't get a draft pick from the transition tag. And you only trans tag a player if you want to retain them. I don't think the Steelers are going to retain Bell anymore. That ship has sailed.

So if Bell shows up to qualify for 6 games and the Steelers do nothing to retain him next year, is there any compensation for the team?

With all that money available to the Steelers. I would think they would be active in free agency. Which could eliminate that 3rd round possibility.

No way I exclusive tag him again. The transition tag still gives us some leverage and opportunity to get something in return. The exclusive gives us nothing again. Either way, I hope we get rid of the piece of trash.
 
 
I wonder if Me'Veon has ever considered hiring this particular agent was a bad idea?
They're both living in an alternative reality.
If Bell doesn't play at all during the '18-19 season, how does he market himself to prospective buyers?

TDX27,........we're saying the same thing as I fully agree with you all I was doing was giving better explaination and maybe I miss understood yaz. I definately want him gone and YES the TRANSITION tag is probably the BEST way to go. GET WHAT YOU CAN and be gone with him.

ONLY thing is he is going to show up this year avoiding the trade deadline and just barely satisfying the contractual TAG year. He will be gone on his own accord then and we get a compensatory pick.

Bell is every much a idiot. He is only seeing money. His only focus. He is the type to not realize anything until it is too late.
