Bell claims rumors of 'missed' drug test untrue

Madden and the Media all regurgitate after one another. Next thing you know they have a story. RIGHT now I believe Bell and hope he doesn't prove me wrong.

They have a job to do. Just in listening to him, I find that he seems to enjoy when a Pittsburgh Player or the organization gets knocked down a peg. I sense that he finds the fans hypocritical and enjoys exposing as such. But guess what this whole ****** thing is a diversion of real life. I don't enjoy it when something happens to my diversion to knock it down a peg. So **** off Mark.

Salute the nation[/QUOTE]

Bell has had two knee injury and one suspension from drugs already. He has not seen big time NFL money, and won't until his second contract.

Trying to be a hip-hop guy to me is worrisome. It's part lifestyle part music. Sorry--but how many of those guys could pass a random NFL Drug test? That's all I'm saying.

The good news is Mark Madden is a shock job type.

Sometimes he's right, other times he either makes it up or has a bad source. It's not like Adam Schefter broke the news!

To stir the pot a bit here ( Pun intended ) the Steelers said they are going to give more playing time to Williams.

The Steelers know about failed drug tests before the media.

If true, how many games will he be suspended?

That is up to Roger. Usually, the 2nd suspension from drugs is 6-8 games. Bell's unexplained absence worries me a little. While he said he failed no drug test, he didn't say I have no off the field issues.

What unexplained absence??

What unexplained absence??

Per the report:

After appearing at the Rooney Sports Complex for the first day of organized team activities (OTAs) on May 24, we never heard from Bell again until he showed up for mandatory minicamp today.

Bell did not give a reason for his extended absence, but he did say his surgically repaired right knee is doing great

Seriously Coach cmon man you can't be that hard up to make something out of nothing. What's to be gained by the team by practicing Bell right now? Please don't say well Pouncey is practicing. Pouncey is almost a year out in his recovery. Unexplained like every body don't know why he isn't practicing. It's called being cautious prudent with a very valuable asset. Even though you think Williams is better.

I think Williams was just as good last year. I never said better, I said better at some parts of the game. The absence had nothing to do with practice time. If his teammates were around from May 24 to June 14th and Bell was not, one must ask why.

Fear not, Madden doesn't have the best track record. I had to bet, Bell did nothing wrong this year, but it would not surpise me at all if he did.

I know you have never said better lol. I just wanted you to feel how it is when you take quotes and twist them all around. Lol..and by the way Williams does nothing better then Bell.

Bell was in the building just not on the field. He was doing individual workouts.

I believe Bell's next infraction would be 4 games.

It was voluntary. He showed up got a little work and the Steelers protected him from himself.

They showed pics of him at some OTA's and at mini-camp this week. Check out Steelers.com

I disagree. How can you say Williams does nothing better than Bell? Williams is faster in the open field and a better power runner in-between the tackles. I;d also say he's more durable and free of off the field issues.

Bell has better moves with the ball, blocks better, and catches better.

My theory is the Steelers offensive line and skill players make it easier to look good running the ball. This is why we can pick up cast off, and see them perform well.

More durable?? Pop, you're ridiculous. Do you not remember how often he was hurt as a Panther, in his "younger" days, no less?? Thankfully, he held up well for us last season, that said, it would (pleasantly) surprise me if he can manage to avoid missing any time, 2 seasons in a row, at his age. And come on, Williams is NOT a better power runner than Bell

I can't completely disagree with Coach here. I really hope that this is just a case of Madden trying to enhance ratings or whatever.

We all know what Bell brings to the Steelers and that we are a better team with him in our lineup.

However, Bell has been in the news as recently as this month for his collaboration with Snoop Dogg on a song for his album.

Now just because he's with Snoop doesn't make him guilty, or mean he smoked, but it certainly makes it probable that he's been in a situation where there was some weed around. I truly hope that the young man learned from his mistakes and would have the mental fortitude to be able and understand what would be at stake here, but I also would not be stunned if this were true.

Williams does nothing football related better then Bell. There isn't one instance on the football field that I choose Williams over Bell. You can have all the made up stuff.

That being said I'm glad we have Williams and with him we have a great one two punch.

Williams has missed 20+ games in his career. I don't know that that sings durability. Especially considering that he's pretty much always been in a platoon situation.

Oh whoops, this was a Coach post, not Pop.

Can't believe that Pittsburgh hasn't been able to come up with a better option than that of Mark Madden in all these years. No one to push his stupidity out into the unemployment ranks and with any luck into another market?

Sad.

Its hard not to tune in to watch the train wreck of callers who dont get his schtick get obliterated... Its like virtial beatdown of yinzerism on a daily basis, even when he is obviosly wrong... Lol

Didn't Williams say he was learning to hit the hole better between the tackles because of how great bell is at doing it.? Yeah he said that!

you have the best theories, coach.

Josh Harris, Ben Tate, Jordan Todman and Fitzgerald Toussaint disagree.
