A few scenarios from ESPN's NFL playoff machine (this assumes a Green Bay win tonight and a Buffalo win Monday night). We are also going to assume that Baltimore beats Cincinnati, Tennessee beats Houston, and Indianapolis beats Jacksonville in Week 17.
SCENARIO 1:
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland
Miami vs. Buffalo
Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville
Tennessee vs Houston
2. Buffalo vs. 7. Miami
3. Steelers vs. 6. Indianapolis
4. Tennessee vs. 5. Baltimore
SCENARIO 2
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland
Miami vs. Buffalo
Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville
Tennessee vs Houston
2. Buffalo vs. 7. Indianapolis
3. Steelers vs. 6. Cleveland
4. Tennessee vs. 5. Baltimore
SCENARIO 3
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland
Miami vs. Buffalo
Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville
Tennessee vs Houston
2. Steelers vs. 7 Indianapolis
3. Buffalo vs. 6. Baltimore
4. Tennessee vs. 5. Miami
SCENARIO 4
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland
Miami vs. Buffalo
Baltimore vs. Cincinnati
Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville
Tennessee vs Houston
2. Buffalo vs. 7. Cleveland
3. Steelers vs. 6. Ravens
4. Tennessee vs. 5. Miami
In any case, if the Steelers win in the first round they are almost certainly going to get a rematch against Buffalo in the second round. It's just a matter where we would play them. What's interesting is if you're looking for a team to knock off KC, Buffalo getting the No. 2 seed would be the better option because both Baltimore and Tennessee play the type of offense that could keep Mahomes off the field. Of course none of this will matter if the Steelers revert back to their offensive style that helped lead to a three-game losing streak.
