Apparently as it stands we're locked in to play the Browns the first week of the playoffs

http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

We also play them next week. This would be a smart time to rest and pull all the starters from next week's game and play as a vanilla of a game as possible and not show anything. If we win we're locked in to play them 1st round, but if we lose we can get anyone from the Ravens, Dolphins, to Titans. Should be interesting to how we plan this..

Well, if we beat them next week, they are 10-6. If the Colts then beat the Jags to go to 11-5, Cleveland is out of the playoffs.

Edit: Also, Buffalo still has to play the Pats**** tomorrow. If they win, they are the 2nd seed, not us. Nothing is really locked in except that KC is the 1st seed.

The Browns can miss the playoffs and we're in no way "locked in" to playing them as it stands. If the Bills win tonight they move into the 2nd seed.

If the game is somewhat meaningless you rest your guys that are banged up. They'll have to play someone they don't like and eventually you have to play the best to be the best.

This is not the case at all.

Messing with the playoff machine, if the Browns beat us they're in the playoffs. No way around that.

Bills have to lose out and us win next week for us to reclaim the 2 seed. Bills play @NE tonight and MIA next week.

Interestingly, the Titans can lose out and the MIA and IND win next week and fall out of the playoffs. I thought they were closer to clinched than the Browns.

We can play a lot of different opponents. Browns, Colts, Dolphins, and Ravens are all on the table.

Exactly we have no idea how things shake out probably until the last game of the season.

Think I am leaning towards playing like it is business as usual. That number 2 seed can still be beneficial.

Steelers and Bills both have three losses. The Steelers can get the No. 2 seed with a win next week and a Bills loss either this week or next week.

That's not correct. Bills can win tomorrow and then lose to Dolphins next week and if we beat the Browns were the 2 seed. They would be 12-4, we would be 13-3.

Yeah, my bad, got lost in the clicking around scenarios. Everything else I said is correct.

Why is everyone saying that? That's not accurate....if the Bills win tomorrow they still need to beat the Dolphins to get the #2 seed. Miami is also playing that game for their playoff lives. If the Dolphins win, the Steelers can slide into #2 by beating the Browns and a 13-3 record.

Looks like Steelers are a lock for the 2 or 3 seed, To get the 2 seed, Buffalo would have to lose to both the Pats and Dolphins and steelers would have to beat the browns.

With no fans in attendance the only real difference is the first round opponent since home field doesn't mean much.

2 seed will play the 7 seed, currently Cleveland
3 seed will play the 6 seed, currently Baltimore

Balt plays Cincy next so that should be a win. I expect them to move up a seed. Miami is the 5th seed and plays Buff. They could drop down to the 6.

Bottom line is that it may not be that much difference between the 2 and 3 seed. It is probably better to rest everybody and get healthy. All the potential opponents, Balt, Cleve, Miami, Tenn and Indy will have to win week 16 to make sure they get in the playoffs.

As much whining as I’ve heard about our being tired due to a lack of a bye, we BETTER rest our starters next week. Just saying.

No, no no.....the Steelers have a 12-3 record with a game next week against Cleveland. The Bills are 11-3 and play the Pats tomorrow and the Dolphins next week. The Bills need to win both to get the #2 seed even it Pittsburgh beats the Browns. If Buffalo loses either of those remaining 2 games they will end with a 12-4 record. Pittsburgh can grab the #2 by beating the Browns and a 13-3 record.

Play No one. I want to see names out there and be like... who?

I don’t even want the back ups in. They got the Rhona. We don’t need more bs from teams ******* up. Plus we need the rest.

yeah here are the scenarios

1 the Chiefs are #1...
2. If we finish 13-3 and the Bills go 12-4 or 11-5 then we get the second seed. if we go 12-4 and they lose both games to go 11-5 we are the second seed... if we end up tied with them or they finish a game a head of us, they get it... we cannot drop lower than third, however, because we have tiebreakers over the colts and the ****
3. Most likely us or the bills, but the titans have the head to head plus the potential to finish with higher wins vs the bills, so if we get the second seed and the bills finish 12-4 or 11-5 and the titans win their division, with a better or equal record to the bills, they could get the three seed
4. most likely the division winner of the colts/**** but the **** could knock the bills down here in theory

5-6-7 a crapshoot between

the division loser between the 10-4 **** and 10-5 Colts

The 10-5 Dolphins
the 10-5 Ravens
The 10-5 Browns

these can five teams can finish in any position cause right now they can finish with a game lead on anyone who loses next week
The titans are the only team playing an NFC game down the stretch, Green bay this week...
tiebreakers...

With the loss today, The colts cannot beat the **** in any tiebreaker, so unless the **** lose out they will get the division

The ravens beat the browns in any tiebreaker, so a win vs Cinci next week and they are in... however for seeding issues Miami would win any tie due to conference record and the titans beat them.... they beat the colts head to head

the Browns lose tiebreakers to Miami, the ravens and the titans, but beat the colts... if they win next week, they are in... there isn't any scenario where an 11-5 colts team can beat them out for a position... there was an scenerio where an 11-5 browns team missed it, but that had the colts finishing 12-4

so next week Miami wins and they are in... if they lose they need another team to lose as well because they didnt play any of these teams but should win the conference game tiebreaker with anyone they tie with at 11-5 or 10-6, the one exception being if the **** lose to green bay and win vs the texans...

likewise Baltimore wins and they are in, or if the colts or the browns lose... Miami and the **** have tiebreakers on them

the colts really needs a win and someone else to lose so they can have a game up...

the browns cant get into a scenario where the dolphins, ravens and titans are all fighting for spots ahead of them... so if its them at 10-6 and the ravens miami and the **** all at 10-6 as well, with the colts at 11-5 they are out... likewise if the colts and titans finish 11-5 and they are stuck at 10-6 with or ravens or dolphins, for two spots, they are ******

i'm coming at it from a standpoint of steelers resting guys and losing to the browns. The Steelers can get the 2 as i mentioned but it would mean having to play hard vs the browns who will be fighting for their lives and still needing the Bills to lose a game. I just don't think it's worth it to get the 2 seed.

If the 2 seed had a BYE, it would be worth it but with no BYE, the steelers should create their own and rest everybody

Rest no one... this team needs all the on field time they can get to get this bullshit out of their system

Ahhh, I understand. In that case, the ideal situation is one that gets the Ravens the lowest possible seed to match up with the Bills and Chiefs. They are going to be a tough out.

Suit up the starters. Have some of them play a quarter to a half. Then bring in the reserves where we can. But give guys like Ben, the Watt brothers, Cam, AluAlu, and Haden the whole game off. If we win, great. If we lose, we've given rest to some key guys that need it.
