3 Titans test COVID positive

so if those three players have it, and five staff members have it, while zero Vikings have it should arrive at the conclusion that this was picked up outside of the stadium. If the starting NT didnt spread it to the Vikings during the game, then it might be easy to say that he didnt have it during the game. Thus, they should look at the whole contract-tracing bullshit to trace it back. Seems like it would have been a staff member who passed it on.

There's that pesky common sense again...

Yes, but more like some selfish ******* player or staff member didn't mask up and they ****** their franchise. This only works outside of a bubble if everyone buys into wearing a mask. I hate this **** as much as the next guy but this virus is extremely contagious. **** the Titans. I hope we have a special can of whoop *** for them when we meet.

does anyone know how long after exposure it takes for the test to be able to pick up. Just curious. My son and I were talking about the Titans last night and I wondered if, say, someone on the flight home was contagious and exposed people on the flight. Would it show up in tests the next day or two days? anyone know?

Go get tested everyday for atleast 5 days then if it shows positive, get another test to test that test to see if it's still positive then if it's positive, go back the next 3 days to see if you still test positive. If it turns out negative then test again to see if there is a positive result in the next testing.

That's how the NFL does it.

So you think it takes up to 5 days before a test can pick it up? I am just curious because if the first **** started testing positive on Tuesday, then it suggests they were exposed the prior week. That makes sense as they already had 1 player and 1 coach positive. If it takes that long, could well be more positives coming and would explain why the league said in camp it would shut a facility down "till at least Saturday" if a team came up with a handful of positives.

I really don't know.. I was just guessing the process.

Pretty sure they charter the flights. So if someone was positive it came from within, except for the person who contracted it within their organization and spread it to others. That it has infected staff in addition to players is alarming.

yea, I just picked the flight as an example place. They had positive tests in a coach and player previously. It could happen anywhere. I am really just curious how long after exposure/infection a test will actually pick it up. I assume the virus has to reproduce in the body a sufficient amount to be detectable.

I don't think anyone has an answer for this. You can test negative and be asymptomatic for who knows how long before you test positive. In the meantime you're spreading the virus without knowing it. This is why they are shutting the game down. I don't like it at all but if they pop up with more positive tests in the next day or two we can be grateful they aren't exposing anyone on our team and ******* with us being shut down another week or two.

11 now for Titans and to my knowledge NONE for the Vikes. I was really under the impression that this was the reason for the large sized of Practice Squad and veteran exceptions? They should have to play down men, that was discussed up until the season that could possible happen and what if it was a starting QB.

I will say the Ravens better not now get the advantage of flipping bye weeks and have off now before a division rival instead of both bye at the same time.

this goes to my question on detectability. If **** have 11 positives and it can take over a week to detect in carrier people, it is reasonable to think that more **** are infected but have not show up on the tests yet. That there are no Vikes testing positive is a good sign, but doesn't mean they won't if there is a gestation period. It has only been 4 days.

I would also bet the NFL realizes if they play this game and Steelers start getting infected after, good chance the NFL will have lawsuits pending and government intervention.

Lawsuits from who? The players had the choice to opt out. I don’t know who would be filing the lawsuits.

i would hope the testing is standardized across the league......what if the Titans test levels pick up very minor amounts, while the Vikings tests have much higher limits of quantification? You could have either miniscule positive tests having a profoundly negative effect or miss positives because of lax testing.

Does anyone have a link to nfl policy or others opinions on this testing stuff?

I am sure the testing and results are standardized across the league. The question I have is essentially how soon such tests pick up someone who is infected. My guess is there is no clear answer which is why they test daily and have to pass multiple tests to be cleared to play each week.

What if the testing lab is in Nashville and teams like the Vikes, etc. have to courier their samps much further? Add in time changes, working hours and other stuff and you could have much slower reporting. Differing lab standards could play a huge role here.

different labs is a fair point. I assume the league had specific turn around times in the contracts with the various labs they use. I would hope so, but I see your point.

FWIW and if anyone is interested - just listening to NFL radio on a store run just now. The doc they always interview - Doc David Cho - was talking about it. He said that the new positives today are not likely new exposures but rather just new cases from initial exposure of the team wherever/whenever that was. He suggested that it can take up to 5-7 days from exposure to show up in tests.
