2026 Steelers draft grades

I think you are going to find that issue was never talent related... it was scheme and technique... it showed up coinciding with our defensive gurus overhauling the line scheme that had been in place since the blitztburgh days, to one where the DLinemen weren't eating blocks and gaps and were " stopping the run on the way to the QB"
I understand your point however, I think it’s been more talent related as of late..
And sometimes it was more about the want to, than the talent, especially when you’re talking about playing physical run defense..

And I have on many occasions, watched the lack of effort and “want to” from our run stoppers in the middle of the defense lately..

You sure can tell the difference between a Tomlin draft and the McCarthy draft. From a positional standpoint, it is looking like McCarthy is gearing up the offense to be a high scoring/big play offense. It’ll probably take another draft/offseason to transition to what he wants to do with the team to get it ready for the modern NFL.

They also have Black from last year who is big enough and stout enough to play NT. He played pretty well last year as a rookie. If he and Harmon take a nice leap this offseason, the DL, Watt, and Highsmith will look a good bit different this year. Watt very well may jump back up to 15 sacks if they can't have 2 or 3 guys blocking and chipping him.
