I don't follow. Out of 6 games we have played the only 2 QBs who have been benched due to poor play thus far. Plus we faced Keenam instead of Bradford. I don't feel like looking through 30 other schedules but I doubt any other team has played Cleveland and Chicago with Kizer and Glennon plus Keenam who is a lifetime backup. And Kizer's best game was against us. The passing YPG given up stat is skewed from the 100 yards Glennon and Bortles both put up. Both were because we couldn't stop the damn run so they didn't even have to throw the ball, not that our pass D was performing spectacularly. And even worse and most importantly, both those games were losses.
My point is, I feel like we have played some unproportionally bad QBs compared to the rest of the league through 6 games causing our pass D YPG stat (the only stat considered in this ranking) to be skewed. Also, what good is a good passing D if you can't stop the run anyhow?
I didn't use passing YPG in my rankings, I used yards per pass play. to compare to last games.
we have played 6 teams. Those 6 QB's have played 5 other teams (except the ones benched who still played other teams). Look around the league at QB's that just aren't that good. Those QB's played 6 teams, too. The only real issue with looking at rankings, right now, versus what we did last year is that it is only 6 games versus 16 games. The larger the sample size the better your results in comparison to other teams.
you don't have to look at every team, but you shouldn't overly generalize without looking at some specifics, although even full game specifics might be misleading. For example, if a QB has 10 passing yards per attempt, is it because his team was down by 20+ points and the D was letting them chew up the yards but not score? That can skew results, too. However, when you look at comparison of rankings rather than specific results, other teams experience the same things that happen to the Steelers. They may not be playing QB Y, but they are playing QB Z which isn't much better.
here is an example of full game results of one QB.
Since playing us Case Keenum has had 2 100+QB ratings and 2 ratings in the mid 70's. We sacked him 2 twice. In the next 4 games he has only been sacked twice, both by Detroit. His QB rating versus Chicago is about 20pts higher than Ben's versus Chicago.
Keenum vs Steelers. Completion % 54.1. Yards per attempt 4.51. Rating 65.9
Keenum vs. Everyone else: 67.2%, 7.86 and an average QB rating of 102.
