It's kinda hard for me to envision a scenario in which the Pats win. They're a fine team, but simply don't have the horses to beat an elite top-to-bottom defense the way they've beaten the suckass Ds of the AFC East The Ravens field a nice defense and gave them a test - which they passed - but the Seahawks are a whole different animal. All-Pro talent throughout the entire secondary - they might have the best CB, FS, and SS in the game, with a Pro Bowl-caliber #2 CB and a got slot CB. Several edge rushers. A run-plugging line. A ballhawk mentality.
Brady has played in five Bowls. He was mediocre more often than he was great. He muddled through some very average play in the three wins, then fell apart in two fourth quarters against the Giants. His early success came from dumping the ball underneath and not making mistakes. His failures came from later, from winging the ball downfield a la Ben, Eli Manning, Flacco, etc. The Pats out-and-out refuse to throw the ball downfield - Brady's deep accuracy is among the league's worst, and they have no downfield threats on roster. And it's difficult to project a team who CAN'T and WON'T go downfield under any circumstances to score points and win the Bowl. Again, while I respect the Raven defense as pretty good, they're not an elite unit whatsoever and Brady carved up one of the league's worst secondaries.
I can't see many scenarios in which the Pats score with consistency against Seattle. There's a reason they melt down completely at some point in every offseason. They lack a WR corps that will make the secondary have to work. They never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever throw downfield, so there's nothing to pull the DBs off the line and zero chance of hitting a deep ball. Their only run game is a lumbering power game up the gut, which Seattle eats alive. Unless Gronk just up and goes off for a 10-150-2 type of game on Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, I can't see more than 17-20 points.
But the Seahawks will need 21+ points. Their WR corps is even less threatening, but I can actually envision them hitting a few times down the field. Wilson probably doesn't need to complete more than 15-18 passes, as long as 1-3 extend a drive and set up something. Their run game is simply unstoppable at this point, and the Pats have a bunch of pass rushers at LB who make mistakes in pursuit. Once Lynch and Wilson cross the line - and they should, at will - some 3-yard runs will go for 10+.
As for Wilson. This mf'er is now 10-0 in games against Super Bowl-winning QBs. That **** is unheardof. Safe to say he shows up in big games.
I like Seattle 24-17.
