I nearly typed it that way.I'm so sick of that quote I wanna vomit when I see it. You nailed it but possibly the substandard is the standard????
Whatever that means. I can't watch that ****.
Exactly! Tomlin fires Canada and it's next man up...Tomlin hands him the offensive playbook.Especially when it's been going on for years now. Part of the point of following a team through hard times is the anticipation of things improving and getting back to where they need to be.
There's none of that under Tomlin.
The Steelers have not had a decent running game since 2017 for God sake, and with the run defense going to **** the last couple years and Tomlin inability to address deficiencies we can probably expect years more of that as well.
People want to rip "Canada's" offense, but it looks a lot like the **** we saw with Fichtner calling the plays.
Don't be fooled. This is Tomlin's pile of **** that keeps stacking higher as time passes
It might not go well, but I find it hard to believe the switch wouldn't be an improvement. A QB that can stay on the field longer can boost confidence, and lessen the time the D has to be on the field while they are fighting through their issues.I have no problem with Pickett playing but unless he can stop the run. Block for the run. Call the plays. I don't see it going well.
I agree here, but the Steelers got some help in the first half on defense by questionable play calling by the Browns. In a lot of ways this game was worse because in the 1st half we actually saw a competent game plan that played to Trubiskys strengths and our WR's abilities, rollouts, routes beyond 7 yards. Trubisky made some nice throws into tight windows. Because there was a competent down the field passing game lo and behold the stains lbs and secondary backs off a bit and we can run the ball!! Who would've thunk it...
Then in the 2nd half it went right back to predictable play calling and everything within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, did we have more than 2 1st downs the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half??
Either our coaches turtled with a 1 point lead haha or Cleveland out adjusted us, either way fu Canada pack your bags
Nobody covered Cooper or Njoku last night with no adjustments made by the coaches. But, Adams did look good at NT when he was briefly in the game. Edmunds, who looked decent the 1st 2 games was horrendous in this one.Steelers' DBs are ***-kickin. They cover well. But they cannot cover the box for run AND cover every zone for routes. it's impossible. And at some point, cracks start appearing. The safeties and DBs have to cover up for the LBers close to the line, then one TE/WR sneaks away and that's what we saw tonight. Cannot help that really. it's gonna happen in the 3-4.
To fix the defense they need 1 player. A guy that will shift the whole damn thing from playing the run and your coverage with inside leverage from bottom to top all the way over to playing both run & pass without outside leverage exclusively while keeping everything in front of you playing from top on downwards.
With a dominant NT, the Steelers LBers & whole defense would start taking over games. Until then Minkah and crew are trying to play catch up all day long.
No. The Steelers problems this year carried over from last year. In 8/16 starts, Ben averaged less than 6 ypa, in only 4/16 starts did he average more than 7 ypa. It’s Canada, it’s Tomlin. We’re 3-0 if Ben is still the QB
They have not even slowed down the run since all Cowhers players retired or left. Consistently fields a draw the play up in the dirt and let's see what happens offense. The whole team is a complete mess. One variable remains after all of these years. I am an old school Steeler fan. I will not watch years of stooge-like play. I do not care what players the Steelers bring in. Tomlin will **** it up. Art II and him must be lovers or something.Especially when it's been going on for years now. Part of the point of following a team through hard times is the anticipation of things improving and getting back to where they need to be.

Worst thing is that when I saw 2nd and 1 I knew that ****** would run right there. What an idiotwhen they had it 1st and 5 and then 2nd and 1...those were times to go deep
3rd and 3.....not so much.....even though the pass was there and DJ dropped it
When will the fans organize a March in front of Rooneys office demanding Tomlin be replaced?
That’s true but let’s not forget, Ben led the NFL in game winning drives last year with 7 of them. When he went no huddle, we moved the ball and got points.No. The Steelers problems this year carried over from last year. In 8/16 starts, Ben averaged less than 6 ypa, in only 4/16 starts did he average more than 7 ypa. It’s Canada, it’s Tomlin.
This pretty much says it all.So, they basically found a way to be even worse than last year.
Didn't think it was really possible.
There is no way to know that. Ben can't throw a deep ball, make the WRs come back for the ball, or make them catch the ball. Our offense was just as pathetic with Ben at QB especially in the first half of games. Maybe Ben forces more throws and gets more picks and we are 0-3. Not using the middle of the field is inexcusable. That is not a QB problem is a coaching problem. We’re 3-0 if Ben is still the QB
I thought Adams looked like ****. Alualu looked like ****. Heyward looked pedestrian. Ogunjobi looked like dogshit. The DL were not penetrating nor holding the point well and the LBers could not be aggressive enough to fill the gaps.Nobody covered Cooper or Njoku last night with no adjustments made by the coaches. But, Adams did look good at NT when he was briefly in the game. Edmunds, who looked decent the 1st 2 games was horrendous in this one.
Tomlin no longer has #7 hiding his flaws and carrying him to winning seasons. He owes Ben basically 95 percent of the success in his career.
Playing with 2DL men sure doesn't help. That's why a 335 should be more used while TJ is injuredI thought Adams looked like ****. Alualu looked like ****. Heyward looked pedestrian. Ogunjobi looked like dogshit. The DL were not penetrating nor holding the point well and the LBers could not be aggressive enough to fill the gaps.
You're asking too much of Edwards and Jack & Minkah. They MUST cheat down in the box heavy to stop the run. And at the same time, Cooper & Ngoku slip out with small crossing patterns out of run formations. Which do you honor run or pass? It's at that point the DBs have to play everything behind them - from bottom then to top. Uphill. They are chasing.
If, and IF the Steelers 3-4 get a NT that holds the line with a double team. Heyward can pop-off and it almost doesn't matter what the other DE does, the gaps are shrunk and the opposing RB has no lane. This creates real wide scope of vision for the LBers to start playing downhill exlusively from top to bottom with everything in front of them. The go head-hunting. The DBs are then able to do the same and it becomes a turkey shoot.
I certainly could have missed some **** plays by Adams but the drive I saw him in there (had to look up his number), he was dominant. He pushed the center back 1, 2, 3 yards instantly on every play. They took him out on a 3rd and 2 and ran right where he should have been. You need to plug the middle. We need a NT (which we don't really have) on the field, even on passing downs to collapse the pocket.I thought Adams looked like ****. Alualu looked like ****. Heyward looked pedestrian. Ogunjobi looked like dogshit. The DL were not penetrating nor holding the point well and the LBers could not be aggressive enough to fill the gaps.
