Is it good? Cause if there are eligible guys (I don't want to take a qb just to take one). That absolutely shapes what I do with Ben in the next few weeks. He obviously gets the start next week, but if week 4 is like week 3, he is done at half and I'm moving on to see what my other qbs can do. Anything else is just a terrible idea. If it's a weak class. I'm not sure. Maybe you can give him one more week.

It's a terrible QB class. Should have taken a QB this past draft, which had QB talent going in the 3rd round with a guy like Davis Mills (Stanford).

Also, remains to be seen how good Kendrick Green is. The concern I have is that the C should not be pushed into the backfield, and he is. Steelers passed on two pretty good centers (Creed Humphrey and Quinn Meinerz) who are power players. Passed on those guys to get Friermuth.

If there is no one worth taking then you can let the Ben dream go on longer knowing you can use next year to evaluate.

The top QBs entering this year have not played well, but there are some guys stepping up. Probably no one that is considered top-5 prospects, though. Just going to depend on what teams want from a QB.

Keep on eye on Virginia's Brennan Armstrong. He's a junior and could be available in 2023.

I will take a long term starter at TE over center tbh… but yeah this years crop of qbs was super deep thanks to covid.. next years will be crap. They better not reach for one if ben retires… just let these backups show what they have and if they cannot cut it, go all in on a qb two years from now

Sam Howell out of UNC is the best QB in College right now. He's being compared to Baker Mayfield and I can see the similarities. I'm not sure if he fits into what the Steelers want to do offensively in the future. I mean, the way the team is playing right now and the schedule that lays ahead, we may be sniffing a top 5 pick in the next draft.

Howell benefited last year from having two superb RB's (Javonte Williams and Michael Carter), but this year has been "ehh." He is smallish for an NFL QB (6'1", 220 lbs.), decent arm, reasonable mobility. His mobility is good-not-great. The Mayfield comparison is based on their respective sizes and mobility but I don't think Howell has the arm strength of Mayfield. I think he is a shorter Daniel Jones.

Corral was a turnover machine last year, but he looks fantastic this season. Let's see how he fares against Alabama's defense on Saturday.

I don't like the QB class this year. The kid from North Carolina (Sam Howell) is probably the front runner coming out, IMO; but I'm starting to like Malik Willis' game too. Both options should be better than Rudy or Dwayne.

Take a look:

Never mind the fact that this class so far isn't doing well.. They say next year's class will be worse.

The top 3 or 4 rated QB's in this class ( as of right now), are all barely 6 foot. Definitely not ideal for the NFL. Even if we pick outside the top 10, we might be able to get one of the shorties. I don't expect a run on QB's early in this draft. Too many good ones have come out the past few years. We'll be waiting a few years to hopefully get our hands on one.

Projecting two years out is hit or miss… guys tend to take leaps forward or back… kenny Pickett would have been a low draft pick if he came out last draft … next year he will be a high one… maybe even a first…

Since everyone got a free pass to stay an extra season this year, there are going to be more guys buried on the depth chart so fewer evaluations for two years out

The Arm talent isn't there either. Neither are the overly mobile QB's

Like Rattler but the eyes just started to focus on him. I still prefer Howell, to call him small ( 6,1" ) isn't accurate. Compact is the right word. He has a better than avenge arm, very good accuracy and is moble enough to avoid the rush / run for it.

Matt Corral had a big test against Alabama and while he didn't do anything special, he played well. He seems to be the No. 1 prospect at this point, at worst No. 2. I do like that he's thrown around 70% completion over the past two seasons. He should be a top 10 pick.

Malik Willis is probably the most exciting QB prospect in the draft. The former Auburn recruit is playing with Liberty, so his level of competition is a concern. He has helped put the program on the map the last two years and is as much of a threat on the ground as he is through the air. Willis is completing over 70% of his passes this season and averages over 6 YPC at Liberty. I expect him to be the top QB off the board when all is said and done.

Sam Howell really doesn't intrigue me much. He's been getting a lot of hype, I just view him as a light version of Baker Mayfield. He had a great 2020 behind a very strong running game, but has taken a step back this season.

Carson Strong is the first QB with prototypical size on this list. He has enough pocket mobility and probably has the best arm strength in this draft class. Despite the pocket mobility, he's still a traditional pocket passer and is this the direction you want to go with how offenses are run in today's game?

Desmond Ridder had a big game against Notre Dame for a signature win. Very athletic and plays with a bit of a swagger. Easy guy to like, just a little concerned with his lack of accuracy at times. He has the arm talent to make NFL throws, just needs to develop more consistency.

Kenny Pickett finally made it over the hump this year. He's athletic and has always had the arm talent, but lacked accuracy and touch. He also played in some poor offensive systems and this all combined into the lack of production. He's playing like an NFL prospect this year, but more of a midround guy.

Phil Jurkovec flashed in his first year with Boston College and appeared poised to have an even bigger second year before injuring his hand in the opener.

Spencer Rattler is a guy that doesn't interest me, but I do hope another team takes him in the top 10.
