Why do we continue to bring players back that were not good enough to stay and not good enough that other teams as they let him go.

Don’t forget last year BGD...We had a great defense and the QB position cost us a season for the ages. Last year we all were screaming at the TV at the absolute worst QB’ing possibly of all time. All the time we put into him, he certainly could have done a better job than “The Duck” & “The Red Nosed Reindeer”.
If Ben has a set back, we had nothing behind him. Until “The Red Nosed Reindeer” shows he isn’t a sack waiting to happen, something had to be done.
Duck, Dobbs or Rudolph ---- does it really matter?Last year, Rudolph did adequate in his 2 ND year. Then we took a QB ROOKIE, from a. Small school,. D3?. And he started at least 3 NFL games. I know what Ben can do. I know what any rookie can't do, and shouldn't be able to do. Duck did fine. Not great. But for a rookie udfa small school, he did great. Dobbs has made one great pass and he can run. Yes Omar I agree he has the better arm.
Oh yeah, he didn't have a QB coach. But besides my excuse making for last year, there is more to this game that being smart, or really fast. Duck , to me is a better complete package than Dobbs .

Finks and Dick Shiner way back when brought plenty of suck. But my nod would have to go to Graham.

They brought Davis back to **** with coach
Because the Steelers have traditionally over-valued players who "know the system". Look what happened last year when they traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick around about week 2 and he hadn't been in our training camp and didn't know our system.

Or cement shoes Graham.

Graham was easily the Steelers' worst starting QB in recent memory. Cliff Stoudt was a close second.

It looks like the Steelers will give Rudy a chance to play if Ben is out.
How about Jim Miller?
Mils wasn’t a bad QB. Just had the injury bug during his rookie camp and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Chin’s offensive philosophy ground game/ball control, combined with defense sort of undermined his 1st start. I remember when Cowher started Tomczak in his place the next game, citing players were still “defining roles” for themselves. A astute statement to allow an experienced QB to tone down the uncertainty that the local media was throwing.
Miller went on to start for the Bears a couple years later and got them to the playoffs one year with best record in the NFC. But he was injured several times including when Hugh Douglas absolutely destroyed his shoulder on a hit. Plus the fact he got suspended for taking an OTC supplement that had nandrolone in it, didn’t help solidify his availability. I’m not sure but I think he was the NFL’s first QB to be suspended games for banned substances.
He had to retire after 6-7 years in the league due to hip problems and had double hip replacement in his late 30s.
FrankenKent has to be the front runner..no question. Worst FA acquisition in the Donahoe/Cowher legacy (yes worse than Donnell Woolford).
That reminds me of this hit... (go to the :56 mark). Mike might still be feeling the effects to this day...Mils wasn’t a bad QB.
