Roethlisberger is going to count $33 million against the cap in 2020.
Wow, I love Ben, and as we've witnessed this season without him, his value is clear...but man, $33 mill against the cap is an ugly number to look at.

You're right about Tuit, we would probably take a $8 million cap hit cutting him.

The next tier runs low to mid 20's. What is going to be scary is when Mahomes gets done.
.
There's also the chance the cap may not be around much longer. The players have had it with it, and the likes of Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder want to do away with it as well.
I agree, but I can't see the lower tier owners ever agreeing to no cap. No cap will put a ton of pressure on the draft picks to perform immediatelyEnding the cap will end football as we know it. I am down to just Steelers football as it is; that might push me the rest of the way out.
Dan the Steelers have already said Bud is a priority . Javon is possibly gone but you can bank on Bud being around at least next year.In a perfect world you retain Bud and Javon. But you just can't. However, Mike Hilton is an absolute no brainer to keep. Matekevich as well. You can't expect to improve your ST unit if you get rid of the best coverage tackler in the league over the last 3 years.

I am not even convinced that will happen.I know Tomlin said he's a priority, and they will work to make room, but he's gonna test the market and there's a good chance he gets paid elsewhere. Given the choice though, I'd keep Hargrave over Dupree.
It is a lot. 12M in salary and the rest is amortized signing bonus money. To compare with other top tier QB's not under rookie contracts:
Wilson: 31M
Rodgers: 36M
Goff: 36M
Ryan 33M
Cousins: 31M
Stafford: 31.5M
Brady and Breese did cap friendly deals or they would be up there as well.

Remember, they did BB's deal expecting to have Bell and AB on board as well. They put a lot of capitol into making one last run with Ben. Despite what people think of Rooney and KC, they both know how hard it is to find and develop an elite QB. They were all in and then Bell chased green and AB went stupid. Fans didn't seem to mind throwing that big money at the 3 B's then. Pay the Man was the call by a lot of fans (not saying you were topseed, i have no idea what your position was). Problem with Pay the Man is that the rules of accounting make you show those expenses at some point. Just in case anyone doesn't know, the Grim Reaper is a CPA.
