Attendance

Just my opinion, but maybe a part of it is the product that the NFL is putting out there is not what fans want to see, especially in a historically blue collar town. The kneeling, rule changes, softening up the game, the new NFL where defense is non existent. Maybe it is all a perfect storm. Here in Indy with a dome stadium, they are seeing the same attendance issues.

This pretty much says it for me although I would add that the Rooney's aren't putting a good product on the field and nobody, including the players, seems to care. If the team and the coaches are satisfied with mediocrity, why should the fans be enthusiastic? You want to see some loyal fans - look at the Browns fans. With their team, through thin and thinner, living on the tradition of excellence they had over 50 years ago before most of them were born.

Can you imagine of the Steelers go through a period like the 1980s? we would be lucky to have 40,000 a game if that happened for a prolonged period. The NFL is still king but the product sucks and is getting worse by the year. In 10 years I think the roosters come home to roost and the greed and pussification of the NFL causes huge attendance losses and apathy among the public.

They don't care. That's not where the NFL makes its money.

They will care when the stands are half full as the norm and the fans dont buy their overpriced jerseys and assorted gear. The TV money is king but slipping ratings over the next 10 years would greatly affect the game and there is no going back to real physical football.

The league is now offering $20,000 to the fan who can change the punting game so there will be less injuries and penalties. Can't make this **** up.

You're comparing our bottom of the bottom to the top of their top.............not fair but I get what you are saying. OUR FANBASE on average is a step above their fan base on average. Just making sure the perspective is there. NOT all Browns fans give a **** about their Browns EXCEPT when it comes against the STEELERS (good reason) so as a STEELERS fan we see what isn't overall normal. The Browns fans look at the STEELERS as their SB and thus look at STEELERS fans as their SB,............Kapish???

Salute the nation

Hell, people don't want to go to the playoff games either. Lot of empty seats the last couple times we played JAX at home in the playoffs.

I would say many Steeler fans are tired of blowing games and looking like turds in the playoffs.

Anger has turned into apathy. I wish there was a program where people could electronically send their tickets to less fortunate Steeler fans who register. This way at least we get the cheers at the home games. Empty seats suck.

Agree, I got lower level 20 yd line JAX playoff tics for less than 100 a piece and hotel room was cheaper than usual. Understand weather was a factor but there were tons of Jax's fans so the season ticket holders were dumping.

Thought about a last minute trip for the Chargers game last weekend was shocked how many tickets were avaiable and how cheap they were. Glad I passed on that cluster

I think they're more tired of high ticket prices, high parking prices, ridiculous cost of food and drink, less tailgating, traffic, and the general time commitment it takes to go to a game. They're rather watch on HD, watch RedZone, follow their fantasy team, and have all of the food and drinks they want from their couch.

I've never been to an NFL game, but I would rather watch it on tv at home. I can't stand being around drunk fans and fans who yell curses and profanity at the top of their lungs towards the field. It makes me cringe.

I've settled doen a lot. Cruise control actually. I've realized I have no outcome.
My superstition tells me, think positive. So that's all I can do
