President Oprah

Jaunita is coming out with a book soon... I bet it will be very damaging to Sir Bill

Yes I brought up Juanita, Paula, and Kathleen have in Lynns Facebook post. I did point out the ***** hat though.

you want something classed up, call Supe.

Dems don't understand why Trump won. They focus on him being a celebrity and his rude statements and they think he tricked people into voting for him.

What they don't understand is Trump actually ran one of the most substantive campaigns. He held rally after rally and the media would only focus on the sound bytes where he'd say "lock her up" or "build the wall". They ignored that the other 45 minutes were him talking about his tax plans and growing businesses and renegotiating trade deals, etc.

On the other hand, Hillary's speeches were about 95% name calling against Trump and 5% promises for free stuff.

What could Oprah do other than the same?

Oprah won't run because she'd have to give up all her businesses, You say Trump did the same but his businesses are different. He is mostly in real estate. He can pick right back up when he's out of office.

Oprah's businesses are mostly products that sell based on her own popularity. Sure, Trump had stuff like that too but the core is his real estate. Oprah can't afford to alienate half the country without hurting her sales.

Yes I brought up Juanita, Paula, and Kathleen have in Lynns Facebook post. I did point out the ***** hat though.

Yes you did. And crickets. Love how Ron got labeled a racist for pointing out that a big reason Obama won was because he was black.
When faced with facts, libs can't do anything but attack.

If that's who the democrats vote for in the primary, fine by me.

Democrats should worry more about fixing up their primary system and not have the joke it was before happen again.

You don't know Oprah!

Her show was partly about empowering women, yet when Sarah Palin was selected as a Vice Presidental Candidate, a significant event for women Oprah flat out refused to allow her on the show, despite her staff urging she should.

Oprah has a militant like support for the left; you'd just never know it because he can be a very private person once the cameras stop rolling. She's perfectly fine with predators targeting women as long as they help advance the " cause. "

Michael Moore has been begging Oprah to run for over 20 years. I really don't think she wanted to, or had a reason to, until this administration.

She could win as an independant. Her brand is larger than Trump's, and has twice the twitter followers. It would make for a very interesting race.

If you thought this past presidential campaign was a circus, put Oprah v. Trump for 2020. It will be the end of the republic.

Anything to take power away from so-called "career politicians" is fine by me. I'm not voting for Oprah. Can't in the primaries (she'd run as a democrat) and I won't vote for her over Trump. Simple decision for me.

But that said, I want MORE outsiders to run for office. From all parts of the country and all industries. I'm tired of the cesspool that is Washington D.C. I don't trust any of those ******* as far as I can throw them. I don't trust the press that "covers" Washington D.C. because I think they have been covering up the real stories in lieu of gaining access and favors to the powerful. I think all of them don't give a **** about America, only votes.

Every "new" outsider will bring something to the table to break up the oligarchy even if I don't agree with the liberal policies. I always think the country is best when the pendulum swings back and forth but "career politicians", especially those in the Senate, have colluded against the American people to retain their own power. They don't care about policy anymore, they only care about how they can keep power in their chamber.

1. Term limits for ALL branches of government takes care of career (read: partisan and cronyist) politicians and judiciary who find it their duty to legislate from the bench.

2. Oprah vs. Trump brings to mind that the movie Idiocracy is just one step closer to fact than fiction when it comes to today's electoral politics in this country.

3. I can see it now... President Winfrey to the undocumented masses: "YOU GET A GREEN CARD!! AND YOU GET A GREEN CARD!!"

RASMUSSEN POLL SHOCK: OPRAH 48% TRUMP 38%

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would opt for Winfrey, while 38% would choose Trump.

Oh no... not MORE polls....

I would like outsiders to run to, but not celebs. Celebs are out of touch with reality just like career politicians. I know it will never happen, but i think ideally we need middle classers in the govt.

What's a "Steadman"? Something like "Steadman tell no tales"?

Oh no... not MORE polls....

well, them there polls are always right, even when they're wrong. it's the degree of how wrong they are that you have to focus on. of course, I'd not expect a simple mental midget like anyone on this board to understand an idea so abstract that it literally soars over your MAGA hat.

right, elfie?

Polls / Projections have been wrong what once or twice in presidential elections? That is a pretty good success rate. People act like polls are never right and what not, but through history have proven to be pretty close. Also going into the election Trump / Hillary were pretty close in the polls and in reality Hillary did win the popular vote. Dems hate Trump and love Oprah and will not make the same mistakes in the next election. Also Oprah is a much more likeable candidate than Clinton and will reach people Clinton didnt care or try to. I believe Oprah would stomp Trump. I think Trump will need 1 or 2 more pieces of major legislation to have a chance.
The problem I have with all this is that the president shouldnt be elected due to a popularity contest and that is what it is becoming. Trump was far from the most qualified person but was able to pretty easily beat the other republicans due to his celebrity status and screw the govt talk. People who are clueless about politics will vote for Oprah based on name recognition which is flat out wrong.

Might be a bit more than that, jitter.

On October 26, two days prior to the debate, Gallup released a survey that suggested that Carter was leading Reagan by a margin of 47% to 39%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1980#cite_note-reagandebate-23

Fifty-five percent of the 948 registered voters interviewed in the poll said they preferred to see Mr. Dukakis win the 1988 Presidential election, while 38 percent said they preferred to see Mr. Bush win. The poll had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points.

http://www.nytimes.com/1988/07/26/us/dukakis-lead-widens-according-to-new-poll.html

11 of the 13 final polls before the 2000 election showed G.W. Bush winning the popular vote over Gore, 3 of which had him winning by 5% or more.

http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2004/info/polls-2000.html

The final 2000 results were: Gore 48.38%, Bush 47.87%, Nader 2.74%

2016 polls?

Most polls released on Monday [the day before the election] show Clinton in the lead. A CBS News poll puts Clinton four points ahead nationally, at 45 percent to Trump’s 41 percent, with most voters saying their minds are made up. ... Forecasts still show Clinton winning the election. FiveThirtyEight shows Clinton with a 65.5 percent chance of winning the election, while Trump has a 34.5 percent chance of victory.

And polls 3 years before the election? Yeah, sure. Ask President Muskie how those turn out.

It would be a much more interesting election and process if we had NO POLLS in the entire country. None. Zip. No one even participate. Or illegal to ask the question "who will you vote for"?

What happens in that booth should be your secret. Forever.

I have heard that Oprah is a ***** on wheels in private, but she's so powerful that no one wants to piss her off so everyone keeps quiet about it. Kinda like Harvey. Might be fun if she runs and maybe we get to see some of her skeletons come out, she's got a bunch I'm guessing.

Where was she 4-5 years ago, Europe somewhere, when she raised a big *** "racism" claim because a high-end store clerk didn't fawn all over her? It might have been France.

Here it is...

The owner of the upscale Swiss boutique where Oprah Winfrey claimed she was barred from buying a $38,000 by a ‘racist’ sales assistant today demanded to speak to the star she branded 'over-sensitive' and insisted her employee did ‘everything right’.

The rather fearsome-looking Trudi Goetz said she wanted to speak with the talk show billionairess ‘as soon as possible’ and also revealed her petrified member of staff will not be sacked or punished.

She said:*‘I don't know why she talked of racism.* I am sorry, but perhaps she is being a little over-sensitive here.* Maybe she was somewhat offended because she was not immediately recognized in the store.'

It came as Oprah said she was 'sorry' a media frenzy emerged after saying she experienced racism during a trip to Switzerland.

August 9, 2013 Store owner Trudie Goetz shows off her collection of handbags for sale at Tom Ford 'Trois Pomme' store in Zurich, Switzerland. Her store (and one of her unnamed employees) has been launched into the national spotlight after Oprah Winfrey revealed a story of being denied seeing a handbag due to what she believed was her race. Oprah said she was interested in a crocodile leather flap-over bag behind the counter worth close to $40,000, but the shopkeeper, (who clearly failed to recognize her famous, mega rich customer) refused to show it to her, telling her it was "too expensive." Store owner Trudie Goetz has apologised for the misunderstanding and blamed it on the Italian assistant's failure to recognize Winfrey. 'I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I'm really sorry that it got blown up.*

'I purposefully did not mention the name of the store,' Winfrey said. 'I was just referencing it as an example of being in a place where people don't expect that you would be able to be there.’

The firestorm blew up after Oprah - who is promoting a film - gave an interview with Entertainment Tonight, in which she recalled a clerk at an upscale Zurich boutique refusing to show her a handbag.*

Winfrey said she was told she could not afford the $38,000 tom Ford Jennifer tote and said it proved that ‘racism is still an issue’.

Meanwhile, Frau Goertz said today: ‘For God's sake, no! I do not judge people according to their skin color, nor according to their income. I treat everyone equally. And I also expect my employees to do the same.’

MailOnline has learned that the saleslady in question is Italian, aged 37, and was not a full-time employee of the ritzy Trois Pommes shop in Zurich where the incident took place - but she was sent there from the sister-store in upscale St. Moritz to help out.*

Now it is unclear where she is as she lies low in fear of ‘public hatred’.

Cutting: Goertz suggested that - unlike Oprah - in Europe famous people liked to be treated like ordinary citizens

Er, sorry: Oprah said lat night at the premiere of her new film The Butler, that she was 'sorry' she had ever brought up the bag incident

Goetz, who was ironically also a guest at the wedding of Tina Turner – the reason why Oprah was in the country, has been left to speak for her.

‘It's absurd,’ she said. ‘Oprah came into the business, wanted to see the crocodile bag. She inquired about the price. When my saleswoman told her that it cost 35,000 francs and then offered to show her cheaper ones, she walked away.

And in a possible slap to Oprah's diva tendencies, she added: ‘That is something that international stars appreciate in our country - that you leave them in peace.’

Ms. Goetz, who regularly features in the society pages of Swiss newspapers and magazines, said that there will be ‘no repercussions’ for her employee - an Italian woman who worked for five years in a boutique in Milan before joining her.

She went on: ‘She did everything right. I can't blame her. She has been working for five years with me and is an excellent seller.* She usually works in St. Moritz where there is a MOST demanding clientele.**

Scene of the crime: The upmarket Trois Pommes store in Zurich where the incident took place

'She is so very sensitive. I repeat once again; my saleslady only meant well because she wanted to show other bags to Oprah. To demonstrate the whole range is, for me, a perfect service. I find it regrettable that Oprah has come to this service from exactly the wrong way.

‘I saw Oprah at Tina's wedding but I only knew her from TV.* We didn`t speak, and now unfortunately since then, this is played out before the entire world.

‘I hope the business will not suffer as a result of this.* I hope I can speak with Oprah to resolve the situation personally, as quickly as possible.’

Today, it seemed that Oprah – who earned $77m last year, according to Forbes, was desperately trying to take her foot out of the mess she’d put it in.*

Last night, the star gave an interview on the red carpet of The Butler, in which she has a role.*

She said: 'I'm in a store and the person doesn't obviously know that I carry the black card and so they make an assessment based upon the way I look and who I am,' said Winfrey, who earned $77 million in the year ending in June, according to Forbes magazine.

Wedding guests: Ironically, Frau Goertz and wonfrey were both at the Swiss wedding of Tina Turner to Erwin Back (pictured)

'I didn't have anything that said "I have money": I wasn't wearing a diamond stud. I didn't have a pocketbook. I didn't wear Louboutin shoes. I didn't have anything,' she said.

'You should be able to go in a store looking like whatever you look like and say "I'd like to see this". That didn't happen.'

Swiss tourism officials and the boutique owner apologized for the incident last week, but Winfrey insists there's no need.

'It's not an indictment against the country or even that store,' she continued. 'It was just one person who didn't want to offer me the opportunity to see the bag.*

'So no apologies necessary from the country of Switzerland. If somebody makes a mistake in the United States do we apologize in front of the whole country? No!'

Ironically, Oprah also came under fire today from the Swiss animal rights group Four Paws (Vier Pfoten) which slammed her for wanting to buy a crocodile skin bag and called on Trois Pommes to withdraw the item from sale.

‘We do not know if Ms. Winfrey actually wanted to buy the bag,’ said* Chantal Häberling, spokeswoman for the group. ‘But she should know crocodiles suffer for the production of such items.

‘The animals are kept in extremely small enclosures,' she said. 'To kill them the animals are beaten with a hammer on the head, and* in some farms and it sometimes takes two hours before they are dead.’
