Harrison today

I think this whole thing just shows Belichick's strength vs Tomlin's weakness. Tomlin is clearly not as weak a coach as some here like to believe, but his personal pride/arrogance is a weakness. This is the 2nd major example of a malcontent in the locker room being released to the Pats. The last one, Blount, went back to help them win a SB. Tomlin just can't stand guys who disrespect him or misbehave, to the point of taking an action that actually can hurt him..... releasing a bench player that can substantially help a rival.

While we don't know how James will do against Villanueva, we do know how he'll do against Fisher and the Chiefs. So does Hoodie, this was a gift to him for just this reason. He knows that KC is his most likely opponent and now he has a proven weapon against them....playing chess. Moreover, we don't have James, should we face the Chiefs. I seem to remember he helped us through two tight wins in the past two games with them. Win-win for Belichick, lose-lose for Tomlin. Belichick's lack of an ego has allowed him to take in and use lots of these types over the years and it's to his credit. If only Tomlin could swallow his pride and sit a guy like this in the corner vs cutting off his nose to spite his face by releasing him, he'd be that much stronger a head coach.

Don't know if this was already posted. Funny.

Wasn't Tomlin as quoted as saying that he would have to be "crazy" to release Harrison? This was not a case of Tomlin's "ego" or anything like that that you people seem to think. Dude was a ***** in the locker room; his *** needed gone. I'll give him more stock when he does something against a quality team that doesn't have their third string qb taking snaps all in garbage time when they have a 20 point lead. People are still acting like we released Harrison in his prime. **** him.

Because he can play multiple positions and is a stand-up, dependable guy who's a great role model for our young LB's. That's why.

He can’t play any very well and I hope professional football players don’t need a role model.

So all this back and forth bantering about James refusing to practice in camp, bad attitude, and so on.
Then it was Cool Shades responsibility to his team to cut him when James started this. Why was he kept languishing on the bench and not even dressing for multiple games? That’s the question at hand. If you’re not going to utilize him then cut him last summer.

Harrison didn’t do **** that entire game. 2 sacks last 2 plays of the game. Total meaningless plays. Up that point 3 tackles. Not a factor in the game at all. It’s over now he plays for the lying cheating Pats, the same team that he called cheating *************. I loved him has a player, but lost a ton of respect for him after this ****.

Harrison signing with the Patriots is probably going to be a bigger distraction for the Steelers in the event of a rematch with the Patriots than him remaining on the Steelers would have been.

That was most likely Belichick's primary motivation behind signing Harrison.

Can you imagine all the Harrison-related crap the national media would be throwing at the Steelers in the week leading up to a prospective AFCC game against the Patriots?

It would make the diversion created by Brown's social media antics after the divisional round last year seem minor in comparison.

I said from the very beginning that Lord Vader was just playing mind games with us. True they needed a pass rusher, but he knows Harrison is washed up.

Bellichick has hated this team for a long time, Lloyd should have slapped him around for the disrespect back in the day. I read an article a while back that talked about how Brady and Bellichick take extra satisfaction in beating the Steelers since they want to be regarded as the greatest duo and organization ever, and that the Steelers stand in their way simply because they possess more Lombardis.

It was Harrison that said Tomlin stated he would be crazy to let Harrison go.

Take it with a grain of salt.

This.

You identify that the player doesn't want to be there in that role early and if you can't put up with his crap you trade him to a team who isn't a threat, say Arizona, before the trade deadline. You save your ego and deal the player in an unharmful way in the process. That's the smart way to play it, putting your personal emotions aside for the greater goal of helping yourself AND NOT helping your rivals. Did Tomlin and Butler not, specifically, want him in the game against the Chiefs this year? Which he closed out twice, once in the playoffs last year and once this year, regardless of him not being "in his prime."

I'll bet Bill Belichick wouldn't have done the same (release him to the enemy) if the shoe were on the other foot. I firmly believe Chuck Noll wouldn't have done it that way either.

So you just make up a trade scenario and that makes it true. Right. We kept him because there is a thing called injuries. What makes Harrison above the team. Im sure he saw we werent using our OLBs the same way. So bite the bullet and be a team player. For the team that gave you multiple chances when you were ready to quit as a young player cause you were frustrated with the playbook

And I'm ok with what you say there, the problem is that you have to see it through once you make that decision. You made the choice to put up with his crap as an insurance policy until now, so stick with it. If we see the Chiefs in the playoffs, you know he can help. Plus you aren't helping NE, who didn't have that answer to the Chiefs and now they do. It's about being smart with the hand you are dealt, and I just feel that we weren't very smart with this move.

If injuries and suspensions dont happen maybe he is still here acting like a girl..IMO Martavis Bryant's shenanigans resulted from watching Harrison act like an *** all year. Kts really damned if you do damned if you dont type situation

He was kept because we had the space. No need to cut him until we called up Sutton. Then we had suspensions kick the roster cut down the road, with JuJu and Gilbert. So when Gilbert was activated, someone had to go.

So when Ridley runs all over the Pats and Hilton gets sacks and interceptions, Will Tomlin get credit for picking up Bellicheck's cast offs to make them football players?

Works both ways right? No it doesn't around here because people just want to hate on Tomlin...

Ridley was a great pickup and Tomlin deserves a lot of credit in other areas of coaching. That said, was James Harrison really the best player to release from the entire roster? Was there not a player whom would attract little or no attention that we could kick back to the PS until needed, if it came to that?

He was the only player that bitched whined and moaned all season long like a school girl.

So the choice was made.

Now a few just have to come to terms with it, and move on.

Some of yinz is like the butthurt girlfriend who was dumped, and keeps hanging on.

Deebo the ******* is gone, good ******* riddance.

Probably if he wasnt acting like an ***. Why cut someone who hasnt been acting like an *** all year. McCullers is always one injury away from playing. Like it or not Harrison was two injuries away from playing. Both Moats and chick were ahead of him. And rightly so they can slide in and play the defense without any changes to the scheme. To play Harrison you have change things

I'm supposed to be impressed with 2 garbage sacks against Kelvin Beachum? After he washed out in Jacksonville, I had no idea he was still in the league.

It’s not about hating on Tomlin as you like to say. I don’t even know the man so how could I hate him. I can honestly say that I don’t hate anyone.
Just my opinion that he who is the head coach should have managed this better. I would have said that if Bill Cowher was coaching here or even the hoodie. It should have been handled better by the head man in charge which happens to be Tomlin.

How much better could he have handled it. Harrison had been acting like a petulant child since training camp. We didnt hear a word about it. Leaving games we didnt hear a word about it. Sleeping in meetings we didnt hear a word
.. he kept his team focused and guided them to 13-3 despite that going on. I didnt even mention all the other drama we had.

Not that he was cut midseason, but how did Cowher do with handling Rod Woodson? Or probably to a situation that was more relatable, for a guy who was under used and became a Pat star, Mike Vrabel?

Woodson still wanted to play CB which is why he had to leave Pitt. He was pretty much done as a CB. He went somewhere else (SF maybe?) and was mediocre and then transitioned to Safety. If he would have played Safety for the steelers he probably would have played his whole career there.

Vrabel was a different situation. He was a conversion project who was nothing special on the steelers. The Steelers had better OLBs and he wasn;t going to start so he left for NE. There he got better as a LB, but he's kind of overrated. He had a knack for making big pl;ays in games but he wasn't a great pass rusher. It would kinf od be like if the cut Chickillo now and he got good on his next team.

Then why now? If JH was such a headache, why keep him all season long only to release him at the end of the year when only the Pats would want him. If they cut him after he looked good vs the Chiefs, i bet he gets picked up by somebody. Houston may have wanted him after they lost Watt and Mercilus.
