Harrison today

Harrison is effectively a DE these days... our olbs are mostly in coverage... the whole issue with Harrison here was tge schemes passed him by... could he be used as a designated rusher? Sure but id rather have Watts versatility

He looked fine in zone coverage today for pats, I guess Belichick was stupid enough to put him in that situation. He looked quick and strong today.

To be fair, the whole defense sucked last January.

Exactly. We ended the regular season with 56 sacks, a team record. James Harrison wasn't missed.

Still don’t have many play makers on defense. James goes after the ball when he gets to the QB, that’s one his best attributes when rushing the passer.

which is why we changed who and how we played our OLBs

Harrison is still fresh health wise.
Minimal playing time this season, and constant time in the gym.

His body is not broken down like a lot of teams starters at this point of the season.
We'll see how his recovery is as he plays more.

I know who goes extra lengths to recover as shown on instagram.
But age has to be a factor at this point eventually

The guy produced today. Hate that he in that uniform.

No point in arguing. End of the day Harrison dramatically outperformed Dupree. But nobody should have been remotely surprised by that.

I suspect in 2 weeks, Harrison will once more dramatically outperform Dupree. In fact I'd be absolutely shocked if the opposite happened. How could it? But what's done is done. The team has no choice but to move forward and do what they can with the people they've chosen.

why because he had two sacks? thats not how coaches grade players. the plays where dupree dropped in coverage and did his job count as positive play also

Are you talking about the game where DeShone Kizer got some 300 yards passing?

I didn't watch all Bud's dropbacks. But I doubt he was tremendously effective. Sorry dude. There's just no way to argue it. Now I'm not suggesting Harrison is a better fit as a full time starter for the Steelers, but from an output standpoint, he destroyed Bud. There's no point arguing about it. As I said, it's done. But let's not pretend Harrison had nothing to offer. The Steelers just didn't want what James was offering. Fair enough.

I don't understand why anyone is comparing Harrison to Dupree. Compare him to Moats or Chickillo.

Harrison didn't impress me his last time out, but appeared to look good from the clips I saw of him today.

and you saw bud somewhere in the vicinity

Harrison whined like a ***** throughout the season and was becoming a team cancer.

**** him and the pats for the quadrillionth time.

I thought Bud would come out today with his hair on fire, wanting to prove he's his own man who's now been freed from playing under Harrison's shadow...and all the supposed negative crap Deebo was spewing in that locker room. To say the least, it was more than disappointing watching Dupree out there today. I hope the kid realizes this **** is for real, he's gotta step up in a big, big way starting two weeks from now. Otherwise he looks like an *** with all the **** he was talking about Deebo. Time to be a man, grow up, and show what you're worth on the field.

.

Harrison signing with the Patriots is probably going to be a bigger distraction for the Steelers in the event of a rematch with the Patriots than him remaining on the Steelers would have been.

That was most likely Belichick's primary motivation behind signing Harrison.

Can you imagine all the Harrison-related crap the national media would be throwing at the Steelers in the week leading up to a prospective AFCC game against the Patriots?

It would make the diversion created by Brown's social media antics after the divisional round last year seem minor in comparison.

A good coach gets something from all his players. You have a 53 man roster that can be used each and every game. How much better would Dupree be if Harrison had been getting some of his snaps when he wasn't getting it done? How much fresher would Watt have been during the game if Harrison was giving him a 2-3 play breather a couple times a game? What if we would have Harrison to spell a DL for a bit? Once we lost Shazier, why not move Play a 3 LB scheme, and move Harrison into the middle? So many things COULD HAVE been done during the season? Harrison knew he was not going to be the starter, but to give him ZERO time, that was just stupid.

Now Harrison is fresh, and pissed off at the Steelers, while playing for the *'s. Who the **** didn't see that coming? I'll tell you who, Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp (Rooney, Colbert, Tomlin, Butler), That's who. I honestly believe that they figured he would just quietly slink away and wait for them to call him, then expect him to be happy to come back. I don't see him EVERYDAY, and I knew that is not how he would handle it. He came back to PLAY, I wouldn't be surprised to see him play for someone next year too.

If it comes down to NE & PIT in the AFCCG, I fully expect that #92 will get a sack, and a couple of hits on Ben during the game. Wouldn't even surprise me that he even tries to make it a statement too. Harrison will be out for blood, and not be tired out at that time in the season. Just hope he doesn't kill Ben in the process.

Sorry buddy, not scared of Deebo and I doubt the Steelers are either. But it looked good on paper, it's the thought that counts.

so basically reward him for acting like an *** since training camp. he refused to practice in camp

Harrison could've acted like a professional instead of being a petulant child but the team could have played him more too.
Better than Watt? No. Better than Durpee? Probably. Knows the D well enough to fill in Shazier's ILB spot and rush on passing downs? Yup.
Anyone who thinks that Tombert always puts the best players on the field are kidding themselves. Politics is a BIG part of it. Last year it had to get to where Jarvis was an embarrassment before they pulled him and put Deebo in. This year Durpee isn't much better.

It's early to make any type of assessment on Dupree. The kid has all the tools. It's not out of the question he puts together a solid playoff run. I for one am hoping it happens. One thing I'm sure about, he's no Jarvis Jones. I'm still holding out hope for the kid. Same goes for our other youngsters like Sean Davis and Artie Burns. The book has yet to be written on our recent draft picks , nothing like the playoffs as a time to shine. On the opposite end of the spectrum are players like Mike Mitchell and Will Gay. I'm afraid their best football is behind them at this stage.

harrison can not play ILB. he didnt play well for the bengals off the ball as a 4-3 OLB. everyone says dont reward bryant for acting like a baby but want to reward harrison

Who is to say if things had been handled differently, he would not have been an *** through the year?

Let’s just hope all of you are right.
