Pouncey Calls out Harrison

James fell asleep in position meetings...

James left stadiums early while his teammates were in action...

James did what James wanted.....

**** the "I don't think hes selfish at all..." BS. The notion he didn't go and see about his fallen brother in the hospital with a career threatening spinal injury tells me everything we need to know about James.

Hes SELFISH AND HES A DICK.. Truth came out. You just don't want to accept those versions of it.

They, especially Dupree, are really overdoing it. I wonder why? It seems that there are plenty of selfish dicks in this situation.

Many people have a hard time accepting it when one of their heroes looks bad because of things they've done and will refuse to believe any of it. In this case the feeling of disdain towards him in the locker room seems pretty universal, so I'd say its all legitimate.

James is James. He's not my personal hero and I'm not disappointed because I never thought of him as a babysitter for rookies or admired him for his sweet personality. None of what they're saying really bothers or surprises me. For years all we heard about was his work ethic and leadership and now everyone's going to judge him by the comments of a few players on his actions of the last few months. Stuff gets exaggerated, we've already seen that one such comment was an exaggeration but we're going to take the rest as gospel.

Some of them don't like the guy, that's clear, Maybe he doesn't like them either. There are two sides to every story and I'm giving our veteran the benefit of the doubt.

This is just pure raw emotion coming out. Remember all those jersey burnings after the kneel down thing?
If Harrison hasn't really practiced all year, and played less, just how productive does anyone think he'll be?

Understandable

Im glad to here about the Shazier part being inaccurate. The leadership of the team has got to get everyone in a room and get some things clear. 1st order of business. We are done talking about the Patriots and Harrison until we play them. 2 weeks to prepare for a very tough divisional round game. If they dont win that none of this **** matters. Quit focusing on a team you may not even play. Its pretty clear there are some big issues on this team but there is plenty of talent in the room. Lets galvanize together for one month and put all the other **** aside. That can all be sorted out in the off-season. Each of us dreams of winning a championship.

Agree with this. You let it go for about 24 hours, then shut it down. Put the focus back where it belongs.

When an entire locker sells out a former teammate to the media the very second he walks out the door you can be assured that he was a first rate *******. Otherwise nothing ever gets said publicly.

I've let my disdain for Tomlin impact my judgement on this. Damn Deebo.

His agenda has gone away from ironic ribbing and he's trying his hand at full on trolling...

I am the troll killer and dont ever forget it
Where's my coffee, boy?

Chop chop!

I am bursting with passion to stamp out all these jersey burning trolls coming in here and spitting in the face of a true Steelers legend like James Harrison.

I think too much politics is rotting your brain.

Um, Pouncey and Dupree are the entire locker room? Ok.

Jarvis Dupree couldn't carry James Harrison's jock!

He hasn't beaten a OT one on one ALL YEAR. He just goes blowing by them or pushed aside with one hand on play after play.

He's going to be a marginal 3rd year talent soon, taken in the 1st rd, naturally he's hoping the Steelers pay him a new contract and will say anything to keep in their good graces knowing how they hate the thought of admitting another LB draft bust.

Ummmm, when they asked Dupree about Harrison's mentoring skills and how great of a teammate he was, Dupree reportedly turned to the group of players behind him and said, "Hey they want to know how good of a mentor he was", to which they all had a hardy laugh in front of the reporters. I think you are in denial.

Tibs is poisoning your brain with troll talk

This doesn't help your case for making sense. Other than you and Tim, I have probably had more arguments and disagreements with Tibs on this website than anyone else. Your brain has gone "Abby Normal"

Not in denial about that at all. As I said, not everybody's the mentoring type. James has never been admired for his warm and fuzzy personality so that really doesn't surprise me.

There's a difference between not being a mentor and being a ****** teammate. He became a ****** teammate this year because he was angry. I mean for ****'s sake OFTB, the guy was sleeping through meetings and leaving games early. Come on!

Just like us fans, some players like Pouncey and Dupree will feel like he is a scumbag traitor, and other players are gonna stick with their boy no matter what
I would give you a written guarantee that after all the years wearing black and gold James Harrison has many "Brothers" or close friends throughout the Steelers orginization and especially teammates, Some guys probably didn't like the way his situation unfolded this year in regards to playing time and understand his discontent with the orginization and the coaches.
Even if he was not a good mentor and was a locker room cancer, getting rid of him in the fashion they did and a handful of players taking shots at Harrison in interviews and online, right or wrong only divides the Steelers locker room further.

Like I said, you are hearing a couple of stories and accepting it as gospel truth. One has already proven to be misleading. But go ahead if that's what makes you feel better.

I'm done with this conversation. Wish James well, just not against us. Don't want to see him in a Pats uniform or see him get a Pats SB ring. But regardless of what happened these last few months he will always be one of the greatest Steelers ever, and he'll always have my respect because of that.

Far short of a written guarantee, simply point out even a single teammate or 'close friend' in the Steelers organization that's come to Deebo's defense. I'm not talking about Tomlin and Ben taking the high road. Name a single player, coach or anyone else in the organization that's witnessed all this trash being hurled at Harrison and has stood up to say, stop! this is not who Deebo is, he wasn't doing these things or acting in this manner. I've yet to see a single instance of this. The silence has been deafening.

Relax and pour out another one, big fella. And find a nice spot on one of your empty walls for your new Deebo/Brady framed print. Maybe next to the Belichik one. Just a suggestion.

How soon they forget...

https://247sports.com/nfl/pittsburg...-Harrisons-leadership-with-young-LBs-39216394

Coach Mike Tomlin recently praised Harrison for his leadership when working with the Steelers young outside linebackers, Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree, along with second year inside linebacker Ryan Shazier. And while he's never been known to be a vocal leader, Tomlin says what Harrison does on a daily basis says more than enough.

“It’s more about what James does than what he says,” Tomlin said recently. “We continually try to remind him that there is a lot of weight in what he says. He can provide a lot of positive direction for young people with his words. James is not a big talker. He is more of a doer and I buy into that in a big way. When you watch him he provides a blueprint of how to go about day to day business on the field and off.”

Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter, who played alongside Harrison for five seasons, also sees the impact Harrison is making on the young linebackers, and how Harrison's actions truly speak louder than words.

“He doesn’t really have to talk to the young guys if he doesn’t choose to, but that’s not him, he doesn’t take it that way. He’s actually helping them," Porter said recently. "He had those guys come with him to Arizona to train. I mean he extended the hand for them to get better, all they had to do was be receptive to taking it.”

It appears the Steelers young linebackers have done just that, evidenced by this recent photo of Harrison working out with several fellow linebackers. While they may be more than a dozen years younger, Harrison's work ethic has helped keep him ahead of the park and able to continue to compete with some of the greatest athletes in the world. It's that drive, leadership and work ethic that's led to Harrison's long-term success, and it's something he wants to use now as a way for his teammates to realize their full potential.

“It’s no question they gravitate to him,” Tomlin said. “Most of those guys grew up on him. Bud (Dupree) was probably sitting around in a onesie pajama set when he watched James run down that sideline in Tampa a number of years ago. They hold that type of regard for him. What he says and does, they try to mimic. That is just good, sharp ball for young people.”

Sounds like you’re a Harrison homer, and are going to ignore all the obvious evidence that conflicts with your opinion. Common sense tells you that there had to be much more to this situation than the Steelers just deciding to put him on a shelf for the season, and then cutting him two games before the playoffs start. That doesn’t even make sense, but believe what you will.

Oh tibs.....Go sip yur latte with the other haters in their van down by the river...u got your burn barrel full of non pc Steelers players jerseys to keep u warm, im sure

my problem with Deebo was:
1) signing with the Patriots
2) signing with the Patriots for $59k

I do not have a problem with Deebo not mentoring the younger guys. I don't know how much of that is true and how much is bullshit. I do believe, though, that Deebo may have helped himself if he had mentored the younger guys. Why is it just NOW coming out that he was leaving games early? Wouldn't one of the numerous beat writers have said something the first or second time? or even the third? I'm not saying it's true that he left, nor that it's false. Just questioning the timing of it in much the same capacity of all the sexual assault reports coming out of the woodwork in elections.

I've said it before and will again, but Deebo should have been put in the middle of the field when Shazier was hurt. I can't see how Matakevich, Chickillo or Fort could contribute vastly more than he could...or any less. I'd have ranked Deebo our 5th best LB in the middle of the season and 4th after Shazier's injury. Maybe he was offered that role and refused, though. We, as fans, simply do not know what goes on in the locker room.

I'd suggest everyone try taking some of these reports with a grain of salt. There is some truth there, but there is also likely some embellishments.
