Pouncey Calls out Harrison

What exactly is your agenda here Spike. Are you trying to be ironic or annoying or what. Burn jerseys. Whatever. It is childish. But you really can't compare the stories. People feel pretty betrayed by this story. Or at bare minimum like me pretty dissapointed. I mean I gave him a lot of rope when he was released. I didnt blame him for going there. But the revelations about his behaviour on this team create quite another picture. Steven Ridley was released because he fumbles which really concerns me. Pretty sure no one has a Ridley jersey there. If Gronk pulled the **** James did you can damn well bet there would be fan backlash over there.

His agenda has gone away from ironic ribbing and he's trying his hand at full on trolling...

The reporter who originally tweeted that Dupree said James didn't go see Shazier now says that Dupree said that James didn't go with the linebackers as a group not that he didn't go at all.

What? You mean we shouldn't immediately take some guy's angry blathering as undisputed Gospel truth? Amazing how many people are so quick to throw James under the bus because of a few angry player's comments after everything he's meant to this team.

Fair enough, let's give Deebo a pass on the Shazier situation until further notice. There's plenty of other bullshit he was doing. At this stage it doesn't matter really. He is gone. He is a Patriot, a sworn enemy. What's done is done. He can work on piecing together his Steelers legacy over the years to come, if he even cares about that.

So that part was false but everything else is undisputably true I guess.

Sheesh.

This his last month of football in the NFL. Like you said, what is done is done. We need to move on and get ready for the most important time of the year. We can worry about all the pom pom stuff in February.

If you let a guy sleep through meetings, leave early, don't show up. You are sending a message by taking no action. No action lengthens the rope everyone "thinks" they have. There is a line and from the whining, Harrison must have crossed it long ago. He should have been dealt with sooner. If they had fined him, it most likely would have leaked. Actions speak louder than words. When a malcontent behaves disrespectfully you remove them. You disrespect a coach by sleeping in a meeting. You get a warning. Do it again and further action is taken. There has to be a level of discipline in any organization to keep structure and set parameters.

Sentimental, not as these stories have come out. Harrison became a poor teammate and he should have be gone sooner.

This is no different than AB “broadcasting live” during Tomlin’s locker room speech, or throwing temper tantrums on the sideline. It also isn’t any different from Martavis bitching about looks. There is a different standard for players, depending on their value to the team (or legacy). My suspicion is Deebo was given a lot more latitude than a lesser player.

That’s not to say nothing was done by the team. Remember all the discussions about why he wasn’t dressing or playing when he dressed? Maybe there was more to that story. My suspicion is him being released wasn’t the first response to his dysfunctional behavior. Tomlin isn’t going to share all the Doris details.

to be honest Tibs, it was stated he didn't want to go with the team to visit Shazier. It didn't say if he went on his own. Just saying. Before I chastise him for that, I would like to hear if he has reached out to him at all. Saying that, players can have a weird way of dealing with horrific injuries to other players/friends. I'm not giving him a pass, but I would like to hear the full story before casting him as a cold, heartless SOB.

Doesn’t make a difference. He’s part of a team, and his unwillingness to be part of a team gesture of support is troubling. Quit making excuses for him. He was a selfish ***.

Love what Deebo did for us for many years, but I'm with Pouncey. This tarnishes his legacy. Maybe in a few years we can look back on his career but what he did this year is much worse than what Blount did. Its a straight ***** *** move to quit on your team and cause yourself to get cut because you're a malcontent. Look around the league, there are exactly ZERO 39 year old linebackers playing football. We signed him to a 2 year contract. He **** on us this year.

She didn't say it was "false". She said that she wanted to clarify that Dupre never stated that Harrison absolutely didn't go to visit Shazier; that what Dupre said was that Harrison DID NOT visit Shazier with the team/LBs. Clarification by the reporter on what she wrote does not make what Dupre actually said "false".

I didn't say he wasn't a selfish ***, but unless you know the whole story, you are just assuming he didn't reach out to him at all.

Anyone in that locker room jumped up to defend Deebo and say that what Dupree, Chickillo, Pouncey and Mitchell had to say was all a bunch of lies (or any of it was lies)? Not even Ben or Al? Well then ... that's telling.

Just saw that Dupree is going to consider writing a book called "James Harrison: All things bad 2017."
Dupree just keeps coming with more stuff.. now he's saying James did the lifting videos to try to stay relevant.
Let it go man!

Why let it go? Hell, it's obvious that Bud hates the guy. Why hold all of that in anymore? I say let it all out now ..... and move on.

Jerry Dulac spoke with James yesterday. On Tunch and Wolf show he said James did go see Shazier with Pouncey.
This is why Bud needs to shut up now.

Why? Throwing an all time great Steeler under the bus just because the team cut him and he wasn't happy?

Harrison's teammates didn't throw himself under the bus, he threw himself under the bus. Take away the name and the actions and still tell me what he did to get released wasn't ridiculous.

I have no problems with him wanting to continue with his playing career and want released. But to take it that far during the season isn't something I believe in.

Bud stated he didn't go with the linebacker group, it was reported in a poor way.

OK, so he went with Pouncey instead of with the LBs. Still doesn't excuse not attending practice, missing meetings, sleeping through those he attended and leaving games early. But hey, he was the ultimate teammate because he went to see Shazier .... with Pouncey instead of the group that both he and Shazier belong to. Of course, that might have been because James knew what the rest of the LBs thought about the **** he was pulling. If so, kudos to him for not bringing that negative **** around Shazier at a time when the kid needs positive vibes.

What has come out about how Deebo has been acting this year is disturbing and definitely tarnishes his legacy. I am actually glad I didn't buy one of his jerseys earlier this year and went with Watt. Leaving games early; driving home from Cinci in a rental car; not helping out the young guys; etc. is just not what Steelers football is about. They should have cut him sooner if this is how he was acting. His teammates said he basically quit on them after the Ratbirds game in week 5.

I don't have money for a jersey but when I finally do it will say #43 POLAMALU

Fair enough. I guess with all this stuff being aired out now, I'm wondering why they didn't bring it up to James when he was there. Why not call him out on it?
The LBs, mostly Bud didn't like the way he was acting, so ask him what the deal is. Now they're all talking since he's gone.
I'm not defending James, he was selfish as hell and it's really a bad look especially for a veteran player.

Human nature. You let stuff go when it's in house because they're a part of the "family" if you will.

A lot of truths don't come out of pro sports locker rooms until after a season or years later. Most of the time it's done to prevent a fractured or divided locker room or to keep the media from starting a feeding frenzy. Can you imagine if ESPN, the NFL Network, even the local rags had got ahold of this **** earlier in the season? Reporters constantly asking players about all of Deebo's actions? That would have been the real distraction that haunted this team.

When the story broke it sounded like the Steelers just cut him to bring back Gilbert not because James was being a whining *****. It changes my view of him, big time.
As far as burning a jersey or destroying any autographs of former players it doesn't hurt the players at all. They don't care never will

Many people have a hard time accepting it when one of their heroes looks bad because of things they've done and will refuse to believe any of it. In this case the feeling of disdain towards him in the locker room seems pretty universal, so I'd say its all legitimate.

Im glad to here about the Shazier part being inaccurate. The leadership of the team has got to get everyone in a room and get some things clear. 1st order of business. We are done talking about the Patriots and Harrison until we play them. 2 weeks to prepare for a very tough divisional round game. If they dont win that none of this **** matters. Quit focusing on a team you may not even play. Its pretty clear there are some big issues on this team but there is plenty of talent in the room. Lets galvanize together for one month and put all the other **** aside. That can all be sorted out in the off-season. Each of us dreams of winning a championship.
