President Donald Trump retweeted several anti-Muslim videos on Wednesday morning, including one purporting to show a Muslim migrant attacking a Dutch boy with crutches.
Except Dutch officials have said that the attacker in the video was
neither a Muslim nor a migrant, but someone born and raised in the Netherlands.
Dutch media had long confirmed that the video
did not portray Muslim violence, but the Netherlands Embassy brought the facts to Trump directly on Twitter by replying to his tweet. “Facts do matter,” the embassy said. “The perpetrator of the violent act in this video was born and raised in the Netherlands. He received and completed his sentence under Dutch law.”
