The Official Thread Dedicated to "Trump Winning"

By fair tax, I’m assuming you mean everyone pay the same percentage regardless of income. So let’s say it’s 10%.... the roofer making $20K pays 2 grand.... which might mean the difference between his kid having or not having a Christmas ...or fixing or not fixing his busted furnace. On the other side of it, the guy making $600K pays $60 grand.... significantly more than the roofer but with drastically less of an impact on his life when you realize he still has $540,000 left to “make ends meet”. Does that help you understand why we have a progressive tax system? Yes the wealthy pay a much higher percentage of their income in taxes, but in the end it has almost zero impact on the quality of life they’re able to lead.... whereas the low wage earner feels the effect of every dollar he earns that doesn’t come into the household.

Red...before you make a further *** of yourself, please go research the Fair Tax. The "roofer" will GET money ( prebate ) from Uncle Sam for his taxes and being a consumption tax, the 'rich' will assuredly buy more...thus pay more in taxes. Jus Sayin'

The Fair Tax is not perfect but it's a lot better than you think it is and a lot better than what we have now.

No doubt that this tax legislation is a "win" for America and conservatism if/when it happens (which looks like before Christmas).

Like I said in another thread, this is actually shaping up to be an okay Congressional term. I complain (rightly so) that sometimes the Republicans are tackling too big of issues and they could also be getting a lot of smaller legislation through that Trump would sign. But if they can move onto immigration reform in early 2018 (which they will kind of have to do with DACA coming up) and if they can keep their promise of a merit based immigration platform (to some degree) that could be a huge win.

And that allows almost all of next summer to re-tackle healthcare leading up to the mid-term elections. And there's a key point to what is happening with the healthcare debate. IF the new tax bill gets the mandates and tax penalties eliminated, that will change the way all the "projection math" the media loves to cite about "20 million people will lose their healthcare". Because when you look into that number, much of it is based on the idea WITHOUT the mandate, people will opt out of the system even if their costs are exactly the same or lower. That makes no sense to me but the Budget Office (or whatever else project out cost/effects of legislation) keeps telling us that will happen.

Take the mandate away now, prove that people won't leave Obamacare in droves, then when you change Obamacare from a federal program into more state managed, the media can't go screaming millions will lose their healthcare.

Red...before you make a further *** of yourself, please go research the Fair Tax.
The Fair Tax is essentially a national sales tax that would replace both the Federal income tax and the Social Security and Medicare tax.
I do have a problem with the current tax code and Trump's new one both creating more people who do not pay tax and therefore we have more zero liability voters, in other words people who are not invested in the government and don't give a **** what the government does because they are not paying for it. Currently The Poor are not paying their fair share.

Senate GOP repeals ObamaCare mandate

Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step forward toward ending an unpopular part of the healthcare law.

“Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them –not the government,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.

President Trump pulls US out of UN global compact on migration

The Trump administration has pulled out of the United Nations’ ambitious plans to create a more humane global strategy on migration, saying involvement in the process interferes with American sovereignty, and runs counter to US immigration policies.

The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, informed the UN secretary general, Antonio Guterres, at the weekend that Donald Trump was not willing to continue with an American commitment to the UN global compact on migration.

The announcement of the US withdrawal from the pact came hours before the opening of a UN global conference on migration scheduled to begin on Monday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Who thought 10 months ago that President Trump would be winning this big this soon? Things were shaky indeed. It is amazing and also kind of scary how unhinged the left has become watching their agendas fall like a house of cards.

At least two people. Me and President Trump. He said it was gonna be yuge. So much winning you're to going get tired of winning.

He said it alright. That didn't peak my confidence given the oppositional swamp monsters at play.

Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi agree to Trump meeting

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said they have accepted an invitation by President Trump to meet with him to discuss the year-end agenda and voiced optimism that "a bipartisan path forward" can be found on key issues that have divided the parties.

Schumer, D-N.Y., and Pelosi, D-Calif., earlier this month backed out of a meeting with Trump after he tweeted his belief that the Democrats are not willing to make a deal on key issues such as taxes and immigration.

“We’re glad the White House has reached out and asked for a second meeting," the two Democrats said in a statement.

How sweet it is...

There's one battle that is still in the planning stage as far as I can see.

This is all I heard on the campaign trail...

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the third version of the Trump administration’s travel ban to go into effect while legal challenges against it continue. The decision was a victory for the administration after its mixed success before the court over the summer, when justices considered and eventually dismissed disputes over the second version.

The court’s brief, unsigned orders on Monday urged appeals courts to move swiftly to determine whether the latest ban was lawful. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor said they would have denied the administration’s request to allow the latest ban to go into effect.

So the left-wing bat herself and the Hispanic on the bench are the only two to vote against it. Should have been a 9-0 decision but I'm pretty sure RBG will never vote pro-Trump platform on anything. God, I hope she retires soon (I really don't want to hope for her to just fall over dead, but that would work too).

John Conyers retires

Detroit (CNN)Embattled Democratic Rep. John Conyers told a Detroit area radio show that he'll step down from his seat in Congress Tuesday, the first member of Congress to resign amid a nationwide reckoning over sexual harassment in the workplace.

Conyers, who spoke for the first time in public since returning to his home district amid allegations of sexual harassment, announced his retirement on Mildred Gaddis' radio show in Detroit. He endorsed his son to replace him in Congress.

"My legacy can't be compromised or diminished in any way by what we're going through now," he said, calling in from a local hospital.

ABC reporter who had major error in Trump report will no longer cover stories on president

The ABC reporter who incorrectly reported that President Trump had asked his former national security adviser Michael Flynn to make contact with the Russians as a candidate will no longer be allowed to cover stories related to Trump.

CNN reported that Ross, who has been suspended without pay for four weeks, will no longer be allowed to cover stories related to the president.

ABC News president James Goldston told staffers, in audio of a call obtained by CNN, that the network’s and Ross’ credibility have been damaged over the mistake.

President Trump Doubles Down On ‘Energy Dominance,’ Puts Up Millions Of Acres In Alaska For Drilling

The Bureau of Land Management is auctioning off 10 million acres worth of leases Wednesday for oil and gas exploration in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A), 150 miles west of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

Republicans in Congress are fighting to open ANWR to oil and gas exploration through the GOP tax bill. The Trump administration is moving ahead with oil drilling in Alaska through the NPR-A, 23 million acres free from the federal restrictions that cover ANWR.

The 10-million-acre lease offering will be the largest single lease sale in the history of the area.
