Illinois Representative Guitierrez to Retire

Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez will announce he is retiring and won't seek re-election next year.

The 13-term lawmaker from Chicago has been a leader in his party's efforts to overhaul the nation's immigration laws. His decision was confirmed by a Washington Democrat on condition of anonymity because the congressman had yet to announce his decision.

Gutierrez, 63, is a leading member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The congressman has also clashed repeatedly with President Donald Trump.

I know you guys love you some Donald around here. I was simply pointing out the irony of calling a sitting US Senator "Pocahontas" to a group of Navajo Indians.

You swallow that leftist swill with the best of them

The Navajo Code Talkers - heroes and patriots all - were NOT snowflakes. They don’t get offended easily, unlike the spineless, Leftist triggered twerps and GOPe appeasers running around today.

Navajo Code Talker:

“The Marines made us yell ‘Geronimo’ when we jumped out of planes and that didn’t offend me either.”

Yes, Trump's vile comments went over just great with the Navajo. /smh

In a statement, Navajo Nation Council Delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty said Trump's "careless" comment is the "latest example of systemic, deep-seated ignorance of Native Americans and our intrinsic right to exist and practice our ways of life."

"The intentional disregard of the historical trauma of Pocahontas as a sexual assault survivor directly resulting from colonization is disturbing," she added.

Crotty said the Navajo people aren't strangers to prejudice, discrimination and marginalization "perpetuated by western culture."

"Our woman and children are targets of violence. We must speak out against such ignorance in every instance, in hopes for a better future for our children and our land," Crotty said.

Crotty said Trump's remark is "problematic" and it diminishes the experience of Pocahontas.

"The reckless appropriation of this term is deeply offensive and dangerous to the sovereignty of our identity of our peoples. Such rhetoric is damaging, and it a serious infringement of our right to live as Native Americans," the statement said.

"The Navajo Code Talkers are not pawns to advance a personal grudge, or promote false narratives. Such pandering dishonors the sacrifice of our national heroes."

Crotty said antics don't "change the fact of history."

"We honor and respect the Navajo Code Talkers, and we are proud of their sacrifice," she said.

"Let us not allow this display of immaturity and short-sightedness distract us from the important issues we advocate for collectively as sovereign nations on this continent, but continue to advance the cause and secure the future of indigenous people in America."

OUTRAGE OF THE DAY ALERT!

BWAhahahahahahaha

Oh let's keep it real.

The "Peaceful Indians" so beloved by the left were in fact brutal stone-age hunter gatherers that used their own brand of genocide including slavery and child raping for thousands of years to beat down, take over and subjugate any rival tribes in competition with them.

The just ran into the Iron Horse and met their match

My ancestors killed off the The Neanderthals too

Wow, Spike goes from praising the heroism and bravery of Native Americans to demeaning and degrading them, in the matter of mere minutes in back-to-back posts. Quite the accomplishment, sir!

Nonsense, the native Amerindians were great warriors

But in the survival of the fittest, the white man's technology won the day.

Guns and steel and railroads!

Black caucus members in talks with Conyers to get him to resign

(CNN)Several Congressional Black Caucus members are in talks to get veteran Rep. John Conyers to resign amid allegations of sexual misconduct, several Democratic sources told CNN on Tuesday.

Those members are trying to ease his exit without trampling on his legacy during his 50-plus years in the House. Conyers, a Michigan Democrat, is the longest currently serving member of the House of Representatives. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is not leading the effort but is tacitly supporting it, according to Democratic sources.

A staffer to a member of the Congressional Black Caucus told CNN that "there is a feeling among some of our members that we need to protect his legacy," noting that Conyers is a founding member of the group and was a leading figure in the civil rights movement.

The House Ethics Committee announced last week it had opened an investigation into allegations against Conyers

Just to be clear what Trump so recklessly and repeatedly jokes about, like a fifth grader with a booger stuck in his nose.

The True Story of Pocahontas: Historical Myths Versus Sad Reality

The story of Pocahontas is a tragic tale of a young Native girl who was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and allegedly murdered by those who were supposed to keep her safe.

Wow, I guess we can add another item to the seemingly endless list of things that offend Liberals.

President Trump names Mulvaney as acting chief of consumer bureau

The president announced he was installing Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, to be the bureau’s acting chief.

“The president looks forward to seeing Director Mulvaney take a common sense approach to leading the CFPB’s dedicated staff, an approach that will empower consumers to make their own financial decisions and facilitate investment in our communities,” the White House said.

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney has dubbed their economic policy approach "MAGAnomics."

Court sides with Trump in consumer agency fight

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a lawsuit from an official who claims that she, and not President Trump appointee Mick Mulvaney, is the rightful director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Judge Timothy Berry of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia declined to grant Leandra English a restraining order to bar Mulvaney from serving as the CFPB’s acting director.

Liberals aren't offended by Trump's crass and misplaced comments, Native Americans are. But who cares, they got their five minutes of glory getting their backs patted by the President, so they can **** off.

President Trump's FCC chairman accuses Twitter of silencing conservatives

The head of the Federal Communications Commission is going on the offensive against tech companies in an effort to make his case for repealing net neutrality rules.

FCC chairman Ajit Pai on Tuesday accused Twitter (TWTR, Tech30) and other tech companies of being disingenuous by arguing for a free and open internet while they "routinely block or discriminate against content they don't like."

The remarks came as part of a speech on his recently revealed plan to unravel Obama-era net neutrality protections at a telecom policy event in Washington DC. The 2015 rules were intended to keep the internet open and fair by preventing broadband providers from playing favorites with online content.

Pai argued that it's actually the "edge providers," the FCC's term for services like Google (GOOGL, Tech30) and Facebook (FB, Tech30), that "are a much bigger actual threat to an open Internet than broadband providers, especially when it comes to discrimination on the basis of viewpoint

Pai, a Republican commissioner appointed to head the agency by President Trump, specifically called out Twitter for appearing to have a "double standard when it comes to suspending or de-verifying conservative users' accounts as opposed to those of liberal users.

The left doesn't like "Pocahontas" because it hit too close to the mark with Elizabeth Warren.

Like many of his political zingers, Trump has a keen eye on how to describe his opponents in the least amount of words as possible and strike true.

So the only way the left can fight back is to somehow try to convince us a Native American name is somehow "racist" to use out of context. That's like white people being offended at calling coffee "Joe". Or being offended at the term "Jerry rig". Or calling someone Joe Schmo.

What a complete crock of nothingness.

Senate confirms Katsas to federal appeals court in Washington, D.C.

The Senate confirmed one of President Trump’s lawyers to become a judge on the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., overcoming concerns that he could end up deciding the legality of key parts of the Trump agenda — including decisions he was part of.

On a 50-48 vote, Gregory Katsas became the first Trump-appointed judge on the D.C. circuit.

Mr. Katsas will join the court just as a series of high-profile Trump cases are winding their way through lower courts and could soon reach the appeals court

On Tuesday, a Trump-appointed judge on the district court tentatively upheld the president’s pick to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, in a case all sides expect to quickly reach the appeals court where Mr. Katsas now sits.

I never said I loved him. Some of what he says makes me cringe. BUT...I appreciate that he isn't PC and says what a lot of us are thinking. That being said....the media doesn't address WHY Trump calls Warren Pocohontas. THAT pisses me off. They brush it off like it's no big deal.

To them, she told the truth. She is part native American. She said so. She is liberal. That is all they need to know.

Problem is, she has nothing to back it up. Just stories from her mawmaw and papaw. So she says, anyway.

Doesn't matter if I like what the CFPB does or doesn't Tibs. It's unconstitutional.

More power with a federal regulatory agency that has zero Congressional oversight is not the answer.

A simple genetics test would show definitive Native American ancestry.
