Mike Mitchell Has a Problem

I seen some video of it today. While I agree he needs to stop the ****, Fournette held out his hand and waved for Mitchell to come hit him. That's why so much emotion came out of it.

Damn this **** is really making miss the Steelers of 9 or 10 years ago

Right?

The NFL in genral.

But man, I miss the old defense etc.
I seen Ryan Clarks name pop up in this thread. You realize just how much of a difference he and Polamalu were in their prime

I'm done with 'no play' Mitchell. I thought he used to try too hard to do too much, when the D was in flux. The we started getting talent, and he's still running around with his head cut off, not making plays. He has terrible vision, awareness, speed, and gets bowled over like a duckpin. All he does is cheerlead after getting knocked back 4 yards on a tackle, and destroy defenseless receivers.

There is no excuse for him to be so deep when he's in zone with this pass rush. He should be reading and recognizing game situation plays instead of watching QBs hit the seam on 3rd and 17s. D looked better with JJ than no play. I don't hate him as much as I hated Blake, but he's gaining ground fast!

In fairness to Blake, he was just too undersized for his role.
If he was blessed with a bigger frame, he'd be a Steeler. I thought Blake was in decent position. His size just got him beat.

Mitchell showed promise last season, but went back to his boneheaded ways

I agree, last year Mitchell had some flashes.

What I hated about Blake was his feet. He took bad steps, wrong steps, and just would fall over himself, and literally would hit the ground on double moves. It looked like he was on ice when he backpedaled. His poor foot mechanics made it so he could rarely make a play.

Looks like LF wanted to take him on. MM obliged and took him down. MM then tried to pump the Team up. The D was playing well at that point. I don't see the problem...but I'm not looking that hard to complain about something that had no bearing on the outcome.

Not even close Guru but it's nice to know those rose colored glasses are still around.

Mitchell's problem is he isn't all that good, although he's cut down on the penalties, but he celebrates after he tackles people for a first down.

But at least he's finishing up. Its the guys at the line that allowed the play to get to him.
That's where the issue lies. I was looking fwd to a stout defense after the first 2 games,
Nevermind the lack of talent on the other side but damn.
The Jags (Fournette) ran all over the D. Thought Fred Jackson was gonna come in
for old time sake.

After watching those two videos you can determine one thing that is indisputable........................those teams are actually team concept all for one and NOT like today's team this is all about individual promotion, non-team players.

Salute the nation

I didn’t see Mitchell celebrating as Fournette broke off 90 yards and looked like Bo Jackson.

One day can Bell please break off a big TD run? Just once, please.

While he's a great back, he doesn't quite have the top gear that some have. I doubt we'll ever see him break off a run like that.

Plus it's hard to run that fast when you're stoned to bejeezus.

The Steelers do the same exact **** after games today.

Justin, you played a lot of football, you know there is a difference when you have 70 guys that have bought into the core belief of the program and when you have 35 guys that have bought in. All of the formalities of smacking a sign coming out of a locker room, team prayers, chants, and motivational speeches will do little unless every player has bought in to the paradigm and the coach's vision. When we have players sitting out training camp, kicking over water coolers, making facebook live video's in the locker room...etc you do not have everyone bought into the team. Me first is like a cancer and it spreads at a rapid rate. It takes a good leader to be able to harness great talent and egos and still keep the ship pointed in the right direction, I have not seen enough of that from Tomlin and honestly he may not be capable of managing the egos that we have.

The same team was 4-5 last year and left for dead. They won 11 games in a row. Including a come from behind win in Cincinnati and one with all our back ups.

It's the same team as last year. They still buy in. Tomlin isn't some push over as a coach. AB shows up every single week
He kicked over a cooler. Honestly why is it a big deal? He wants to win.

2 words on why acting like that is a big deal, SELF DISCIPLINE. It's a big deal because you show up every one of your teammates when you cannot control your emotions. When you are the pinnacle of top receivers and we have so many young receivers looking up to him and expect him to lead by example that is what you want them to see as being acceptable. I wouldn't accept that type of behavior from one of my high school kids, why is a professional athlete getting a free pass? Tomlin said it, you are a professional, ACT like one.

He came out and acted like it. He had 157 yards on Sunday. Would've been over 200 if not for a called back touchdown pass late.

Performing on the field and having self control during adversity are not the same thing. Only time will tell, but the fact that Ed says that Monday apologies from Brown are the norm for the Steelers leads me to believe otherwise. We will see.

The Steelers paid him 70 million dollars. Obviously they aren't concerned.. and you know, they spend every day with the team.

Sure they did, his production outweighs the distraction. What happens when the distraction spreads to others and that attitude catches on with others that are not producing the same...look at this team so far this year and tell me it doesn't appear to be distracted by something. TO kept getting employed despite his antics and locker room distractions so long as his production on the field would offset the distractions.

Lol this is such a dumb argument. If they were winning no one would be saying a word. You aren't in the locker room so you have no idea their attitudes. Do you watch their Snapchats? They're always all together goofing around. Offense and defensive players together. Do you talk to the beat reporters daily? I do. There isn't any divide. Neger has been and never will be.

what did yinz call me?

:eyebrows:

on a serious note I don't think there is a divide, they simply aren't playing well together as a team.

Somebody needs to motivate and push a few in the right direction..............

team meeting in the tunnel everyone !
