As much As I've **** in him this season, 3rd Steeler coach with 100 plus wins consecutive speaks volumes. He is not perfect, has many flaws, and has had a potential HOF QB during his tenure ....but he can't be as bad as TB stated or I thought this year. I look around the league and I'm very happy who we have had this decade
But another example of his faults - he should have started burning his TOs after the 2:00 warning. Baltimore was CLEARLY not going to run out if time. If the Steelers were going to stop them, it was going to be on downs. That was lost evidently on Tomlin. Them scoring that quickly was the best thing that could have happened given Tomlin's reluctance to use his TOs.
Nobody really cares right now ... what he did today was guide a team to a much needed (even psychologically) win. That's what counts. Not whatever little thing you think he could have done better. Hell, I think Ben could have played better for most of the game ... but he came through when it mattered. Go Steelers!!!
I'll take lucky over good as well, but the fact that we won and are AFC North Champs doesn't change the relevance of what could have been another blunder. 9 seconds are a "little thing" we are lucky didn't cost us the game.
If my uncle had ****, he'd be my aunt. None of the things you mentioned happened ... we won the game. Try enjoying a win for once without attempting to be "that guy".
Merry Christmas. The Steelers won and I doubt that most folks here are in the mood for all the naysaying bullshit.
SEE RON BURGUNDY'S POST ABOVE.
I suspect you would have been calling the Rooneys racist if they had hired a white coach after obeying the letter of the law in regard to the league rule that bears their name.
Wrong. It's true. Watch the games when the camera is on him.
Except for the 4 years in a row that they missed the playoffs under Cowher, you mean?
As for whether Grimm (who was never REALLY in consideration btw) or Whiz would still be here. Possibly, But, that's pure conjecture. What we do have to go on is their respective resumes since they weren't chosen. it ain't pretty. Their respective resumes (is Grimm even still coaching?) is what makes Tomlin better than them, at least on paper; and that's all the evidence we have to go by.

^ This dude thinks we should have burned all our TO when the ravens had the ball.
None of us were coaching on the side line, during the game.
I don't think terry is too far off. I am curious to see if Tomlin even sticks around after Ben retires. If he does and builds his own great team I will then say that he is a great coach. Until then I think that he's been riding Ben's coat tails for a decade.
You're mistaken. The Steelers missed the playoffs 5 times in 15 years under Cowher; the longest stretch was 3 years, not 4, from 1998-2000.
And he never, at any point in his career, went five years with only 1 playoff win.
And, once Ben arrived, get a load of this...Cowher never had a losing year! Went 34-14 in the regular season, 5-1 in the playoffs, and won one lowB repuS. All better percentages than Mikey has put up with a more mature Ben. Imagine that!
Cowher >Tomlin
