Great news on Dupree dropping 20 lbs. That means he cares and is motivated to get better. That is great to see.

I think the D is gonna be better this season. I love the feeling of young players getting better as opposed to old players getting slower.

I don't like Jesse James losing so much weight, he's already skinny for a blocking TE. Hope he recovers some in pure muscle

that is what I read that he lost bad weight and gained muscle... I think we will see a even better version of the kid.........

No doubt. Kinda need to keep his weight and change some of it into muscle...upper body muscle.

When did the NFL establish the rule about fining the team when x-amount of players are suspended? And if it isn't new, why is everyone all up in arms over it? Did they not get fined last year for Bell and Bryant?

Not sure how long the rule has been in place, but I would think the FO isn't overly thrilled with this team wise and financially.

Really though...who cares.

You're right, but all the media outlets are seemingly freaking out about the fine the Steelers will have to pay, as if it's another reason for the Steelers to be supremely pissed off. Both of these guys are on their rookie contracts and neither costs much against the cap anyway.

He definitely seems to have followed the lead of Harrison, Brown, Bell and the others who dedicate themselves. All of the athletic traits are in place and hopefully he kept his strength but will be quicker this year. Still needs technique work, but great to hear a young defender is motivated and acted on it. He has to know he is a huge key for the success of the defense.

James was listed at 261 last year and looked skinny. If he lost 20 pounds, I just don't know.

I don't see how James could have lost 20 Lbs from his listed weight of last year. He was already pretty thin. Maybe he was trying to add weight last year and ended up heavier and now he is going back to what he was before that.

If he's really down to 240 then that's puzzling. We all assumed James would be their main inline TE and blocker and Green would be more of a WR or H-Back.

Maybe they have another blocking TE in mind and they want James to be more of a receiver. How injured is Green?

Off-season surgery so I take it that they will be easing him in in a similar way they would be with Bell (before the suspension).

All the practice updates that I find I will place here like I did last year. Some enjoyed and if you didn't you can just ignore this thread from now on.

Hope I'm wrong but Jarvis looked as skinny as ever in the pics I saw of him. The dude doesn't appear to have put any muscle on since entering the NFL. Guess he doesn't care.

Funny to me that you mention this. I'm reading the original post and although it says Bud lost 20 pounds, my mind is thinking JJ and saying WTF.

Look at the guns on Coates! He's a WR and makes Jarvis' arms look like twigs.

Yeah, arms like a WR. A bit of a problem if you play linebacker. Losing 20 pounds won't help him " set the edge " which according to some here is ultra important. A hint of a snark.

With Harrison being 38 years old, a replacement for Jones is needed.

Perhaps Chickillo with a year under his belt transitioning from 4-3 end to a 3-4 OLB can show a bit more this year?

How does Pouncey look? I felt he looked very thin, but that was a few months ago.

Are you insinuating that setting the edge is not important as a OLB in our defense

Article I read this morning has Green sitting out into the summer with no timetable for his return. WTF. Our prized FA's ankle is so bum, he is going to be a wasted season. No Spaeth they become pretty thin at TE.

They knew Green had ankle surgery and signed him anyways. Hopefully he can get on the field sooner than later.

Ya, I'm actually kind of pissed about Green. If he isn't in camp now, James and Grimble may be No. 1 and 2 to start the season. I hope Grimble keeps looking good like he did in OTA's.

Steelers TE Ladarius Green Expects To Be Ready For Regular Season

StockGreen2

BY DAVE BRYAN JULY 29, 2016 AT 11:52 AM
Even though Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Ladarius Green will begin his first training camp with his new team on the Active PUP list, he still sounds confident that he’ll be ready to play by the time the regular season gets underway.

According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Green, who reportedly had a plate inserted into his ankle in addition to having a ligament repaired during offseason surgery, said Friday there are still some things he has to work through in his rehab. He didn’t, however, give timetable for his return to the football field.

According to Chris Mueller of the Beaver County Times, Green told the media Friday that he tried to talk the Steelers coaching staff out of placing him on PUP at the start of training camp. He did say, however, that expects to be ready for the team’s Monday night road opener against the Washington Redskins.

During his Thursday press conference, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that he didn’t know how long it would take for Green to get on the same page with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger when he is finally able to practice. He also said Thursday that he and the team anticipated Green’s injury would linger into the summer but refused to give a timetable for his return to the field.

With Green sidelined, second-year tight end Jesse James will get quite a bit of work with the Steelers first-team offense during training camp. Additionally, backup tight ends David Johnson, Xavier Grimble, Paul Lang and Mandel Dixon should all get plenty of opportunities to make a case while at Latrobe as to why each are deserving of a spot on the team’s final 53-man roster.

The Steelers signed Green to a four-year, $20 million free agent contract in March. The Louisiana–Lafayette product spent his first four seasons in the league with the San Diego Chargers as a backup to future Hall of Famer Antonio Gates. Green enters the 2016 season with 77 career catches for 1,087 yards and 7 touchdowns.
