Le’Veon Bell don't you worry about his FOCUS.

Walter Abercrombie was a much better singer. As a running back, not so much.

Its very risky to extend RB's at that kind of money in todays NFL....any running back..

If the Steelers believe this kid is the type of person that could be a "Steeler for Life" and acclimate as a honorary "yinzer" when he is "old and gray", or a future Hall of Famer, they would probably try to extend him, but not at a 15mil a year clip..

Make him a fair offer but if someone else offers more then let him go.

I don't know, man. Some of you have a very cavalier attitude towards talented players. Bell is special. I don't think you just snap your fingers and replace the guy.

Thing is, you say let him go because he has offended your sensibilities by either asking for too much or rapping, but if they do and don't replace him with great talent, you'll be bitching about what the hell is Tomlin and Colbert doing.

It isn't your money. You have to keep special talent.

If I'm the owner I can't pay a running back 15 million per year, the game has changed, even Le'Veon who is top 5. What sets him apart from other backs are his receiving skills. The Steelers have Ben and good corps of WRs. I don't see how you fit Bell in at 15/year and keep a competitive team on the field (Super Bowl competitive). Unless, they're sure the cap will increase, then maybe, but even then in today's NFL you can be successful with a team of backs. Plus the Steelers still have Deangelo on the roster as far as I know and while he's getting to the end of his career he was still productive, then in next year's draft look for RB in the 1st or 2nd.

A lot of cabbage for a great back, but we saw what Woodley's contract did to the Steelers.

It's not a cavalier attitude towards talent. It's reality. Only so much to go around. I'm not trying to tie up 15 million there. That's just me.

Hopefully his music makes him money so he won't need as much from a contract.

If that's the case, the STEELERS are going to have to shell out BIG bucks.............

You guys sure are running with this 15 million thing. Just because he said it in a song doesn't mean thats what he is looking for.

AP takes the switch to the rest of the league's RB salaries. He's FIVE MILLION higher than #2. If Bell thinks that he's getting a million more than AP. He's still high

I would go as high as 8mil. After that, I let him walk.

But here is the thing. I think Bell is special. We haven't seen him since the first Cincy game so we forget maybe a little. I DVRed it because I wasn't sure if I would be able to get home in time for the game that day, so I have looked at it once or twice. The guy is just different than other backs. Hell, I might even go out on a limb and say he is better overall than AP.

Now, let's say you don't pay him. Great, you can spread that money around. On what? A handful of OK players? Maybe even very good players? Why do that when you have one that is special? Would you not pay Ben his money so you are not tying up 25 Mill?

Look, I am all for not overspending on players, unless they are special. The Steelers have 3 right now with Ben, Bell and Brown. It would be foolish to let them get away. I live on the eastern side of the state and was listening to the Philly talk show Sat. morning and they were trying to name one player on the Eagles who is truly special. They couldn't. Fletcher Cox is very, very good, but special? We should be thankful we have 3 special players and want to keep them around as long as we can.

12- 13 and he would be worth every penny.. As long as he isn't taken out by the bengals this guy plays all 16 and puts up crazy numbers in this offense.. The salary cap is still going up. We can afford it

So it is ok for some other team to take him out? I will be honest I have not been following the salary cap the last few years, but I would have a hard time paying him that much cash with the injuries he has had. What if he gets hurt again this season? Do you still want to pay him his money? Talented kid but just kids hurt a lot. Reminds me of our center. Which by the way I didn't like the idea of making him the highest paid center in the game. In the end if they sign him I will root for him. If they don't I will root for the guy that replaces him.

That's the whole thing. Salary cap. You have to pick and choose where you're going to spend your money. $15 mill for an oft-injured running back in a passing league? No thanks.

I get that.

Let's say it is $15 mill, for the sake of argument. What do you do with it if you don't sign Bell. Spread it around? Fine, but if you spread it around to 3-4 players, they may be good players, but they won't be special players. Special players earn special money.

Now, let's say you spend that 15 on a special player at another position. What position? Corner maybe? You'd throw 15 mill on a position that is constantly hamstrung by the rules? You ain't getting a top QB for 15.

Tag him Dano

This year and then the tag. If he is still special and healthy, pay the man. It will be interesting to see how he holds up.

two freak knee injuries plus a strike one on drug abuse should lower those 15 to 10M

If Bell gets even close to 15 mill what is Antonio worth?

I look at it more from the angle of if you sign Bell for $15 mill then who are you going to let go?

Admittedly Bell has talent but there may be a smidgen of "product of a system" involved also. I'm sure y'all were watching a good 32 yr old RB waltz thru a pretty solid bunch of blocks to amass 900 yds @ a 4.5 yd avg last year. Seems them other youngin's didn't do all that bad either what little they played.

I think the days of big money RB's may be behind us, good talent is there in the middle rounds, they just aren't capable of some of the moves Bell has. It's obviously not up to us as to decide what he's worth but I personalty don't see him getting $15m.....no way.

I see that point too.

However, outside of Ben, Brown and I feel Bell, who on the team is irreplaceable? Harrison in his prime, but not now. Pouncey? Hell, half of the people on here didn't want to pay him the money. Maybe Heyward. Maybe Tuitt will be.

I think you can massage the cap enough to pay him right now, anyway. Worry about down the road then. Time with a franchise QB is limited.

Just saying, if we have three or four guys who are taking up over half the salary cap such that we have to sign scrubs everywhere else, then we're the Ravens.

I wonder if the reality of the NFL is this today. If you want to win, you have a few superstars and hope your scrubs are better than everyone else's. Or you have other good talent, but that talent has blossomed during it's first contract.

Totally agree with honor his current contract and possibly FRANCHISE tag. If he is willing to sign a more friendly contract, then give him his extention guarantee now.

We should just franchise him two years in a row and let him go. That gets us through 2016-2017-2018.

Push all the other long term contracts out with the credit card spending idea. His cap hits will be huge, but you won't be tied to a washed up 28-29 year old running back in 2019 either. And no dead money.

Bell says he wants 15 million a year?!
