over all great season. we are 1 starting cb away from have a good defense. We will be better next year.

As far as today...

Sammie Coates stepped up today. DHB caught a pass and didn't fumble. defense played well. Jarvis made a few plays.. Shazier is certainly a force on defense. another good game.

We are 3 players away on d. A corner a better olb and a better punter.

One other thing .. and it's bittersweet ... but, the playoff run this team had this year is the type that builds character and hunger. Last year they were young, happy to be there and I think a little scared of or not used to the intensity required for playoff football. This year they showed mental and physical toughness in gritting out wins when undermanned. I think this serves them well next year. Especially the defense. I'm looking for a lot more swagger out of that unit next year. A lot more confidence and playmaking.

Early in the season Butler took a lot of crap (deservedly). However, I think he was the right guy to help this group grow as a unit. A new DC who was learning on the job as much as his charges. His growth as a DC coincided with their improvement and growth as a unit. I hope it continues.

DHB's hands were much improved this year. The few drops he had were on balls that were well defended, and I don't remember him fumbling at all. If DHB is your fourth reciever, you have a very good group. A tip of the hat to the guy. High draft picks who don't live up to the hype frequently wash out of the league after a few years, because they can't adjust to not being "the man". DHB buried his ego, and has carved out a place for himself as a solid role player. Props to him.

All things considered, I think we played well and seemed prepared. I'm impressed that Tomlin kicked the FG at the end of the game. I think a lot of coaches would not have made that decision.

I loved that call.......

Boswell likely makes it. Tomlin's decision to punt it after seeing how Berry was doing can be second guessed.

The fumble hurt us the most

Easy to sit back and say "Boswell likely makes it". But what if he doesn't? You would have been OK with handing the ball to the Broncos with a shorter field than they ultimately go? Hell, I'm not saying going for it was the wrong decision. I understand your thought process and I understand Tomlin's. I'm glad I'm not the one who had to make the call.

Considering the holes in the secondary, he did a pretty good job. Pretty sure Tomlin has his hands in the defense much more than he did under Lebeau.

Yes...

But the Broncos still had to drive 65 yards to take the lead. It's not like Toussaint fumbled on the Steelers' 20.

I think the defense simply got tired in the fourth quarter. Maybe it was the altitude.

Who knows?

After the punt, we stopped them, and then went on what might have been the game clinching drive. If Boz misses, and Denver drives 30 yards and kicks a fg to take the lead, guess who is on here calling Tomlin an idiot for trying a 51 yd fg in the wind?

A punter isn't on D

perhaps you mean a better pass rushing OLBer

a cover corner

and a SS that can cover TEs

That blitz on 3rd and 12 was confounding......nobody was in Mannings face........Someone must have screwed up because it appeared everybody took the widest angle possible to get to Manning and he could easily see the middle of the field.

What hurt most about the fumble was that we were on the move, and eating the clock.Get a td there, and Denver is down 8, with 6 minutes left, and 80 yards to go

They still need help on the DL.

Heyward had no tackes today, and was less effective as the season went on.

On 970 they're saying he played with an injury - I think they said an arm issue - the past few weeks.

I agree with everything but the last part about marsha overwhelming us. I don't think anyone was going to do that to us. This was a special bunch. They had some missteps like the last loss to the ravens . But when push came to shove they stuck together like few teams. That comeback against that shithole of a team from cinci last week was epic. It will live forever. Unfortunately today's hole was too much to climb out of with the injuries.

Special no doubt. This team fought til they couldnt no more. I think if the Steelers were to win tonights game. They would've given the Pats a few good swings but in typical NE fashion they would've ran up the score on this bunch. Manning wins to win. Marsha wins to rub it in your face

Hey, about Shazier. Did any of you guys calling for him to be moved to Safety notice his outstanding play at LB the last few weeks. I sure hope we don't hear any more of that particular brand of crap. The kid is turning the corner as a LB and I think when he's done, we'll all be more than happy with the result.

not uncommon for the third year to be "the" year a player arrives.

I think he showed flashes of what he is capable of. And another offseason should do nothing but help. Him and Bud..........

He just needs more meat on his bones. Get with Deebo in the off-season, eat some cheeseburgers and put on a good 10lbs for next season.

I haven't been calling for it but it crossed my mind. Carnell Lake went from LB to SS. And Urlacher went from safety to LB. When I see his speed it makes me wonder.

I wasn't expecting the secondary to become just above average toward the end of the season. They're a player or 2 away in the secondary for this defense to be very very good. The offense is going to have quite a few ponies in the stable next year with Bell, D-Will, now add Touscant and Todman and a good receiving corps with Brown, Bryant, Coats, DHB and Wheaton.

I like what we saw with Jesse James today......I think we might have our replacement for Heath. As stated, Coats showed well today.

We really need to address punt and kick returner.

not buying into either of them

with their short body of work

Dri Archer is available...

Toussaint at least looks like a capable No. 3, especially since he is capable in pass protection.

his average per run was average at best..... I mean I would be ok with him as a 4th option. But not the runner they need if Williams and Bell are hurt again come next years playoffs.

So keep him as a 3rd down backup. But I think on first and second down let's draft a possible upgrade. (If a BPA is available.)

For all the criticism we give the defense, they haven't really given up a lot of points the past few games.
The offense did well considering how many starters are out. Frankly I didn't think they'd get this far.
Much like the defense, we bag on Coach Shades but this year may have been his best coaching job considering what he had to work with. I don't think they would have got as far if LeBeau was still here.
Trade Sushi next year since Bos is at least as good, maybe better, and cheaper under the cap.
Crouissant is a capable #3, I agree.
James will be a good TE.
Coates looked good, I would look for DHB to be gone or Bryant out for the year for smoking again.
Maybe Jarvis and Shazier have turned the corner.
