The aftermath: what the talking heads are saying.

I was very sick of Cowher, starting during the Kordell years. He did blow coaching during home AFCC games, three times. (SD, Denver, NE). Belichick typically plowed the field with him. And when MT came on the scene, I loved him; I felt that he always said the right things. But as time wore on, most of us noticed his rhetoric was mostly empty. And while BC was becoming infamous for being stubborn on pulling players (thus admitting being wrong, and keeping ****** players like Kordell, Scott, Gildon, Washington, etc.) MT is much more flawed in this area. His insistence on keeping Blake on the field is beyond imbecilic.

Likewise, I hated the fact that Cowher never brought anybody to compete with Kordell, although some people say that there weren´t enough good enough QB prospects during that time. I personally didn´t buy that. Also I couldn´t understand why Scott and Washington lasted so long as starting CBs.

However, to be fair, Cowher was very good at rebuilding his teams, despite the exodus of good players we used to see leave to free agency every year.

difference is that switzer actually coached his *** off prior to getting the job and taking over a loaded squad and then the championship that followed.
mikey T had never been a head coach at any goddamn level. one of the single greatest franchises at the highest level is NOT where you should start

Very true.

It was sickening to see those teams bleed off talent to free agency but they obviously could not keep everyone and had to make some smart decisions on who to keep and who to let go. Of those players who left, rarely did they have the careers that they had in PGH so I think the decisions made at the time were usually right. However I still don't know why he was so passionate about keeping Kordell at QB. He was an awesome Slash / Wildcat weapon and may have likely been a pro bowl receiver but he was not a NFL caliber QB and everyone knew it. I wonder if Bill got his marching orders on Kordell from Dan.

Perhaps Ben wasn't happy with the game plan. He's a gunslinger and maybe he wanted to come out throwing but the game plan called for running it against one of the worst passing defenses in the league.

Read in one of the Pittsburgh paper sites that is always trying to make excuses for the Steelers...in regards to them not taking it seriously and taking Baltimore lightly... D.A. Williams was quoted as saying he didn't notice an difference in how they prepared for this game. THAT was a quote intended to defend the Steelers' preparation, showing that they prepared sufficiently. But I personally have a problem with that. Playoffs on the line...heated rival...always plays down to inferior competition...why wouldn't you prepare differently? Add a little energy to the place. Let Peezy go all...Peezy on them?

But only a clown like you would point to that because really a few years at the bottom where you amass talent leads to great drafts. IThe absolute worst thing a team can do is hang around in the middle for years on end picking up more mediocre talent to go with their mediocre talent. If they don't some how get in this weekend and go on a run, I wish they would be 6-10 and get some good picks. They ****** need it even by your own words on defense where their only players are Heyward and Timmons.

A clown smh when have I ever disrespected you? I Pointed it because only in hindsight did anyone know those teams weren't any good. I'm the midst we were all shocked at the sudden downfall those teams took.. And I agree it is the worst you can do..But if that happens no one will have the patience they had with Cowher who at that point hadn't won a super bowl. If Tomlin goes 6-10 there will be pitchforks

Totally agree.

There should be pitchforks now. Because he isn't good enough. He keeps repeating the same mistakes. He keeps trotting out the same **** on defense like Jarvis Jones, who a friggen blind man can see is not an NFL quality linebacker. I apologize for calling you a clown, called you worse somewhere else or possibly on three other threads. But your defense of Tomlin at this point is totally beyond my comprehension. I just cannot any longer listen to his flim flam, cliche **** show to top off his short commings as a head coach. He is done in my eyes. Done. Will never win anything else of consequence. Next man up so to speak. But I do apologize for getting so personal.

He spit a lot but I NEVER saw Bill **** on the sidelines. :)

Jarvis Jones may be a bust in terms of where he was taken in the draft but to say he is not worthy of the NFL? Really?

I ways laugh when people call Troy Edwards the biggest bust in Steelers history.

No you didn't because I definitely would of pointed it out

C'mon man.....you've never referred to someone a dumb *** regardless of their actual level of intelligence?

The slang word "jive" (along with hip and dig) is generally attributed to the black culture. One example of that below but there are many.

http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/001966.html

How is it racist then to label a black mans words with a word attributed to the black culture? I seriously doubt anyone would be feeling or feigning butthurtness if someone had said they "dig" the way Tomlin coaches or that his words were "hip."

If I said Tomlin was rapping about the the play at the presser, would that be racist too? Or just outdated, ergo, not hip? I just think sometimes people need to shorten their butthurt antennae and quit looking so hard for reasons to be offended.

I didn't say his haters are racist. What I have been "inferring" is that some of his actions are disapproved because of his colorful antics.

Personally, I'm tired of the color goggles, the black and white goggles---hell, let's just look thru night vision goggles going forward.

Coach Tomlin isn't perfect - no one said he was...

But, IMO, he's built the best offense we've seen in Pittsburgh---ever. Maybe, in time, he'll get a defense to match???

Please explain how Harbaugh out coached Tomlin.....what did he specifically do that was out coaching anyone?

His team won.

So everytime Tomlin has won he out coached the opposing coach?

Can't answer a question with a question

So everytime Tomlin has won he out coached the opposing coach?

Maybe when he is down to his 4th string QB and has 15 plus guys on the IR it does.

They lost to Tebow and Mallet going into those games under prepared. Its been a trend under Tomlin. Cant say more

The Raiders, Bucs, Jags....(insert under .500 team here)

SO now your changing the criteria. Before it was his team won. Nothing more his team won. So I asked a simple question if your team beats the other, the team who won coach was the superior coach?

And I'm fine with that so going by your criteria in every loss he was outcoached. So simple question in the games the Steelers won was Tomlin the superior coach?
