The aftermath: what the talking heads are saying.

So does speculation of racism.

It always has to come back to that bullshit doesn't it? (I haven't had my second cup of coffee, so can't tell if you are sarcastically pointing out other people's stupidity of making it a race thing or not, so excuse me, this is just a general reply regarding the race thing).

I USED to be an avid Tomlin fan / supporter, but Tomlin himself makes it very hard. Now, I just pray each game that it doesn't come down to him having to make a decision. I can take his verbal diarrhea, but his in-game decisions make me puke. When Tomlin arrived, I was all for it. We needed a change. I liked that he was more aggressive and relaxed (super bowl XL was not as enjoyable as it should have been because I thought Cowher would turtle ball the game away).

But now, Tomlin's decisions (in-game and roster moves) are not up to par. His consistent pattern of losing to inferior / losing teams is concerning and is costing the team. His "acceptance" and "ownership" of ****** performances mean nothing if you don't fix them. If my son accepts responsibility for a **** up, but continues to do the same thing, that acceptance means nothing. It is merely empty words.

That, my friend, is why I'm not a Tomlin fan anymore. And it has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin.

So sure calling someone a dumb *** who if you took the time to read up on is far from dumb is OK. When we had a another coach from 92 to 05 was never referred to in this way. Sure it's just me.

Tomlin IS a jive talking fool! I'm not saying jive like the movie a airplane jive. I'm saying jive as in be spews a bunch of bullshit clichés that don't actually mean a ******* thing. Above the line, standard is the standard, arrow pointing up, mentally tough. Stfu with all that cliche bullshit. Just stand up and say **** like I thought we should go for it on fourth and 1. I didn't think that the Ravens could stop us, look at how the drive was going up to that point. I thought that at the worst case scenario our defense would get the ball back. I didn't realize that it would give a bottom feeding, terrible team who was LEGITIMATELY in contention for the first pick in the draft some semblance of hope.
Stand up there and explain **** without the double talk. Something that mr point at the camera and show his "passion" simply would never do.

Because the coach before him didn't use cliches??? Did you have a problem with it then. "Its a fine line between winning and losing"

Question if he wasn't black would you use the word "Jive"

Sooooo.....this is what learned this weekend.

We learned the Steelers have become one with the Pens and Pirates ...... dick teaser teams that choke on it when the games really count.

like others have said we lost the game because the other team wanted it more. Everyone deserves the blame. Coaches, players, even fans in the stand. I was at the game and Steeler fans were so loud on the first drive and then pretty much crickets for rest of game

Seeing as I'm black, I couldn't give one single solitary **** what color the man is. Don't try painting me with that brush. There hasn't been a coach in the league that I can remember that talked so much and said so little. If prefer him to be completely aloof with the media and predictably not give them ****, than the blabbering that he does currently. In other words of you're not going to say ****... Then don't say ****.

Really don't understand what you being black has to do with the question? The question is if he wasn't black would you the word "Jive". Would others? I've never heard Rex Ryan being excused for talking "jive" and talks more bull **** then anyone and hasn't done ****. And there are plenty here who would take him over Tomlin right now..

You clearly inferred that I somehow looked at it as a matter of skin tone. At least that's how I took it. If it wasn't your intended tone, I apologize for reading it as such. If the question that you're asking is simply would I say he talks jive. Then yes. Jive. Used car salesman. Traveling snake oil sales. Insurance to old people that they don't need. Any one of those.
I just think that Tomlin supporters are quick to bring up something that happened almost 7 years ago in his defense. How long will his victory over Arizona hold up? The other one that kills me is the never had a losing season argument. Really? That's the measuring stick? Not losing more than you win?

I would. I've used that word numerous times in my life concerning Caucasians, and other ethnic backgrounds.

You're really grasping at straws here, antdrewjosh.

All I know is every time this team plays a team with a sub 500 record we see this same lame *** effort and our HOF QB forces the same stupid passes into a INT.

I asked the question because you weren't the only one to use that phrase. I asked the question because the word isn't associated with all races. So it didn't matter to me what your race was. Racism isn't restricted to black vs white it could also be black on black, white on white etc.. you can be racist to your own race. Now if you had used the other examples you used we wouldn't be having thus convo because those aren't specifically associated with a certain race.

As far as football I like the Rooney way of doing thjngs. Find a guy stick with him thru ups and downs. It took Cowher 13 years to win and I've never called for his head. Wished he wouldn't of retired. And he wasn't perfect he had his flaws but he could coach. Til this day when I see the seahawks Super Bowl and his daughters say "We're world champions Dad" I tear up. Cause I was so happy for him. I compare the two on here cause I don't see the words used to criticize Tomlin the same as Bill. Tomlin is a dumb **** for playing Blake and Kordell had pictures Cowher as to why he played Stewart. Cowher had nothing to do with his QBs on the team. Tomlin is responsible every draft pick except the good ones. Those things annoy me.

Example please

You ignored why I said he was discouraged. I said it was because he knew Harbaugh was out coaching Tomlin again and he felt helpless. That is on Tomlin.
Please explain how Harbaugh out coached Tomlin.....what did he specifically do that was out coaching anyone?

some sanity in all of this madness...100 percent agree with you.

Example? of what, me using the word "jive" in speaking with others?

Yes an instance when you've used it concerning other ethnic backgrounds. In what context did you use it?

I'm not sure if it's racist, but the song 'Jive Talkin' was written by 3 white english guys...

True Story, Andy Gibb is a friend of mine's father.... Mom is black. You can't make this **** up

What I think Mike Tomlin is failing is to understand is that the players he is coaching are by and large 20 somethings. He believes in treating them like men which is a good thing, but he also has to understand that even though he thinks they should have urgency when playing a bad team for a spot in the playoffs they don't. It was his job to motivate them during the week to understand that simple fact so that they would come out with an edge and take care of business. Unfortunately, not even the veterans (save for DW) seemed to understand that losing this game basically eliminated them from the playoffs.

This season will be one of those that you look at the record and think they had a good year but the reality is that it will be viewed as a missed opportunity at best and a failure at worst.

You mean WAS a friend?

see that's the thing... i didn't know how to word it hahaha. i actually thought of how to put it. settled on is because even though he's dead, that doesn't change the fact that he fathered him. i like what you did there tough lol

I referred to Cowher in that vein several times, like when he went for the TD on 2nd & short from the Denver 20 with 2:00 left in the 1st Half in the 1997 AFCCG.

I don't dislike Tomlin and really want him to succeed since it spell success for this football team but I just don't know what this guy does well as far as a head coach. As for his part in drafting and F/A acquisitions, I'd say he leaves a lot to be desired. Ability to make adjustments; not good, clock management: not good, motivational skills: not good, discipline: not good, refusal to make personnel changes; not good.

Look, I don't care about his use of cliché's or his being evasive or aloof as long as he wins. I don't care about that, but please tell me what this head coach brings to the table that's a positive for this football team? This team continues to be not motivated against supposed lesser opponents, and you say that the players shouldn't have to be motivated that it should be a given. That's part of the head coach to make sure all week they are focused and motivated and to never ever take any opponent too lightly.

I do not think this team will ever win another playoff game again with this guy as our coach. If we didn't have Ben this would be a five win team at best.
