Rookie third-round pick Dri Archer continues to practice returning punts despite not doing it all his final year at Kent State.
“I feel pretty good about it,” Archer said. “It's something I've been doing every day since I've been here, so I feel very comfortable with it.”

Ben is a very oft-injured player. He plays for the Steelers. Thus ends the short-lived Ben/Archer comparison.
I'm not afraid of a few injuries. Dom Easley was one of my favorite prospects and the dude tore both ACLs. But Ben is a HOF QB, so his injuries ding his scouting report less to me than Archer's. And if he'd entered the league with Archer's injury history, I'd have been worried.
You could be tagged a nut case for this comment. Holding someone responsible. Get real, Archer is the ONLY responsible one there is. He will be solely responsible, if we win the Super Bowl, then again, he'll also be solely responsible, if we don't.
Salute the nation
Someone should list all the players under 185 lbs and their injuries the last 5 years I'm too lazy but seems like a lot / most get injuried less that our franchise QB !!!
Honestly, I thought it was my fault.
Seriously stop trying to compare Ben and Archer's injury history. First and foremost, Ben's injuries have come at the NFL level, while Archer has yet to play a down. Second, the injuries Ben has suffered would probably have killed Archer. Ben's skill is also not predicated on his speed, he's a QB. A QB that likes to hold the ball more than most and take hits that most QB's can only dream of jumping back up from. It's more absurd than comparing apples to oranges...
Favre says shut the **** up, Ben is a *****.Listen, you can't have it both ways, Ben HAS been injury prone, I can deal with that, but for ***** sake, he is BIG BEN, he's damn near the same ******* size as the guys tackling him. Then you have Ward, who just got up after just about every hit. Here is a hint, Ward isn't as 'BIG' as Ben, and he also took some monster ******* hits.
We'll know soon enough how Archer does in the NFL.

Hines combine numbers just for comparison sake 5115 195 40 in 4.55. Hines is much bigger than Archer but played like he was even bigger. I remember a conversation about Hines after he successfully blocked a defensive end on a run play. The announcers were talking about how the next week in the film room that particular player would be really catching hell from the team when they ran that play in the film room because he was taken out by a wide receiver.Favre says shut the **** up, Ben is a *****.Listen, you can't have it both ways, Ben HAS been injury prone, I can deal with that, but for ***** sake, he is BIG BEN, he's damn near the same ******* size as the guys tackling him. Here's a hint, Ben wasn't injured in college. Ben plays QB, he touches the ball on every offensive snap. Archer is not Ben, has ALREADY been injured and missed significant time in COLLEGE. THAT is the point. Want to compare injury histories? Find a player that was hurt as often as Archer was (per touch) IN COLLEGE... maybe even in a similar position, not a franchise QB of an NFL team.

ARE didn't throw a lot of passes, but one of them went for a touchdown in a SuperBowl. I'd say if the kid does what is asked of him when he gets on the field, then I'd expect he's doing what's asked of him. When Rainey was here we had ******* Redman and Dwyer, we now have Bell and Blount, I doubt he's going to see the backfield carries Rainey did.
If Archer can field punts, I will be much more acceptable of this, just for the value of not putting AB at risk. And Archer should be able to at least match what AB did with Punt Returns, provided he can actually field punts without muffing them. I would feel much better if AB did not have to field punts any longer...but the last few years he was our ONLY option. Hopefully Dri can change that.So he's going to get LESS offensive touches than Rainey?
I might consider the pick a failure if just that happens (unless his production is extraordinary). My problem is now the production of Archer has to almost be this extraordinary to yield above average results on the investment. He has to produce a lot on very limited opportunities.
Not sure I think that is fair to him yet the Steelers kind of brought this on themselves.
People forget we were already one of the best punt return teams in the league last year (A. Brown getting the majority). We had a 12.8 average and 1 TD (league average was 9.4 and less than 0.5 TD's). I doubt Archer is really going to improve that statistic vs. a year ago.
We should get better at kick returns (we were 1 yard below average), but how much when we are only talking 40 kick returns a year anyhow.
The positives of Archer just aren't adding up to me unless he's getting pretty significant touches on offense (and that means possibly Blount isn't going to be used as much as we think and will split time with Archer).
