Aaron Rodgers is Back for 2026

@Coryea - i agree with everything you've said but want to throw this out there... I'm almost positive the FO knew Rodgers was coming here last year. They weren't saying anything though. Rodgers was meeting with friggin DK Metcalf. I mean, it was a badly held secret.

I agree that we very well should have drafted Dart. 100%.

Though I do not believe the Dart we would have drafted would have turned out to be the Dart the Giants drafted. There's the Tomlin factor to weigh in.

We had all been wanting a NT and someone to take over for Cam as he ages out of the roster. Harmon was an excellent fit. Could he or would he have been there later? Doubtful, but he was a safer selection.

So we pursued a safe pick - which secured another Tomlinship and another non-losing season.

Now we have a fossil, Howard and Allar. Mason should read the writing on the wall and begin packing.

Selecting Allar and resigning Rodgers all but assures that we pass on QB in R1 2027.

Aaa-Ron is a Steelers player, so I shall root for him to do well.

I also want the young-uNs to make it very hard the the Rodgers for playing time.

Bingo, but no, this is a good thing so we're told, Aaron is going to come in here and hold Drew and Wills hands and guide them through the halls like 1st graders on their way to the cafeteria. HAHAHA the most self centered guy isn't teaching anyone anything, if he was concerned at all, he'd have been helping Howard as soon as McCarthy was hired, or he would've showed up at the voluntary stuff to help them. Every other QB showed up to their voluntary workouts, why should we expect our starting QB to be a leader? He's happy going on McAfee and talking about keeping in shape to bang his wife.
Dude your hatred for Rodgers blinds you.

Rookie minicamp and voluntary minicamp is not for teaching...lol. It's basically orientation mixed with meeting the training personnel, being fitted for gear, and allowing undrafted players to come in and show what they can do for a possibility of being signed. It's more about individual assessment.

Both events only last a few days...OTAs is where " the rubber hits the road...if you will." they last a whole month. 7 on 7s and 11 on 11s. Rodgers will be here for that. That's where he can offer tips/help. Then and during regular season meetings and practices.

And he has helped, unless Will Howard is lying. Hey, maybe you can run with that next.

The only reason that happened was a knee injury to Charlie batch during the preseason.. ... the plan was for Ben to be the 3rd qb and sit on the bench... mid August Batch went in to treat inflammation in his knee and it turned out he needed season ending surgery That bumped Ben up to QB 2 while they searched for a vet backup but maddox went down right away and he never gave them a reason... that wasnt a choice... injuries pushed their hand
I stand corrected. I remembered Batch was out that year before the season started and that's what allowed Ben to move up, but couldn't remember the details.

I don't hate him, I've said several times, gun to my head and we have to win a game, I'm taking Rodgers over anyone we have on our roster and I'm not thinking about it.

I hate the way Rodgers acted during this, and so did the Steelers or they wouldn't have used the UFA tender or whatever that was. Obviously I don't want him here, not because I hate him, because we are not any closer to having the next guy as we were when Ben retired, and Rodgers definitely isn't him.

Ok if rookie minicamp and voluntary minicamp is for everything you say it is, why did every other starting QB show up with their teams?

What makes anyone think he's going to come in here spend his last season trying to mentor and teach young QB's, the guy is DIC, you've said so your self.

Don't be a condescending a55 just because someone doesn't agree with you GOAT assessment.

They used the UFA tag in case he signed somewhere else they could get a pick out of it. I would not have given him the 22..that's just my take.

The opposite side of that is that there are other QBs getting 40 to 50 a year that are worse than Rodgers so we still got a good deal.

Top 12 in Passer Rating and TDs with possibly the worst offensive roster in the league last year. That is very good...let's see what he can do with the talent that has been added.

I think what you meant to say "the guy is a dick"..........................................................................

We all know there is ONLY one............. DIC.

SOONER or later ............someone will sign him........lol

In some industries, the Porn-Stash is still relevant..........................

#4 highest paid WR in the NFL, Pat was a top 10 paid TE 2 former 1st round picks on the Oline, a former pro bowl guard in Issac who everyone was thrilled to get, and one of the best centers in the AFC. Gainwell was team MVP. I can't say that's the worst offense in the NFL.

I was expecting the money to be right around there because of what QB's are getting paid.

The change in Coach and philosophy is what gives me the most optimism.

you're right, wasn't sure if that would be censored, and I was beginning to think maybe you were Rodgers. :)

Don't want you to think I'm avoiding that part of your reply.

The starters are there to run the drills that evaluate the walk ons, politics(I was there for every team activity..give me big new contract..me team player) and they are there if there is someone signed that could challenge them and their position isn't secure...think Watson/Shaduer.

Rodgers doesn't fall under any of that at this point in his career. Sure he could have been there to run the drills, but Mason probably did it. No biggie.

#4 paid means nothing if I can bracket you and take you out of the game since you have no other receiving threats.

Pat sitting on the sidelines doesn't factor into the equation.

Gainwell is great and got all those opportunities for the very reason that we had some sorry personnel.

So yes...one of the worst offenses in the league skill player wise that Aaron still did pretty well with. I am optimistic about seeing what he can do with DK, Pittman, and Bernard. And the new scheme installed by an offensive minded head coach.

Yes Hindsight is easy, but Dart was a first round talent, will he pan out who knows, but he was sitting right there, we didn't have a franchise guy, hell we didn't even have Rodgers signed yet. No reason to pass on him. No there are not sure thing QB prospects, but that's more the reason to see what you have now so you can go into next years draft knowing if you want to move up if you need to.
All this does is push us back another year from knowing what we have or what we need.

Rodgers without a doubt gives us the best chance to win this season, but like I've said that shouldn't be the goal, to just win a playoff game, the goal should be to find the next guy.
I don't think Dart was a consensus first round talent. I think consensus was more 2nd / 3rd round. He doesn't have a super strong arm and his decision making was under question. I know there was alot of talk of us taking him though. Maybe the steelers simply did not like him for whatever reason or had him rated as a day 2 guy

So you think the steelers will go into the season With Rodgers, backed up with Allar and Howard and their combined zero NFL snaps.

You hate Allar. I get it. I'm just pointing out reality. They don't have to cut Howard today. You need 4 in camp. But as camp winds down and practice reps become scarce, you have to give the reps to the guy who Mike McCarthy hand picked.

Steelers could have signed Malik Willis or Kyler Murray. They probably could have gotten JJ McCarthy. They did their homework on Allar and decided Allar is the guy they want to develop over any of those guys. I didn't say that. The Steelers did with their actions.
Yes I think they just may do that.

I think the QB experts on staff will have the OTAs, TC, the preseason and regular season to evaluate both Howard and Allar, rank them, and then next draft we find out for real whether they think they need to take R1 QB .

No matter what they say, we will only know after the Steelers R1 selection in 27.

Funny that with “the lack of options” over the past 5 years all these other teams have found QBs…oh ****, they’re actually prioritizing that…those fools🤣

But I’m sure one of these years Art’s plan of duct tape and 🦕 🦖 will work perfectly to a close playoff loss, you know…not the complete embarrassing Molly whopping aka “the standard”
So cool you got a new dino icon to add to your posts. It makes more interesting beating that dead horse

Berm thinks Willie has "it", but sees the upside on Josh 2.0...
I think that if you think Allar is Josh Allen 2.0, you may have bumped your head.
One option at WR, who still, IMO, is a true WR1.

Horrible OL play.

Facts of why we got demolished...
The Steelers have definitely improved at wide receiver. But if you thought they had horrible OL play last season, what indicates that it will be better this year? Seumalo is gone. Jones is a huge question mark. Sure, they drafted two promising guys, but are they going to start two rookies on the offensive line?

It's not about wanting to see more from him. He's an experienced backup. You need one of those on the team. Rodgers is old.

If the steelers didn't sign Rodgers and they just wanted to roll the dice this year on Rudolph starting until Allar or Howard is ready, it would mean they were punting on 26 as a developmental year.

Signing Rodgers means they want to win this year. That means no room for 2 backup QBs with zero NFL snaps.
If you're just keeping MR around just for the sake of preserving a 9-10 win season then it makes no sense to keep him around unless you believe the defense will elevate to an all time great that will be able to cover up the deficiencies he has should they need him on a SB run. I really dont care for a winning season unless you're going to a SB. Otherwise you really need to see what you have in Howard and Allar in anticipation of a much deeper QB class coming out in 2027.
