Dri 2.0

YOU - Vader - YOU stated he has no place in the NFL. NOT anyone else. No member of the alleged "CJC" has even said he will be in the HOF. The alleged CJC just says precisely what you do, that he has some value.

Yet since they're not, as Tibs so eloquently put it, "digging his grave" as you are, then they're nut huggers and pom pom wavers.

Optimism. Look it up. Try to embrace the definition.

What a bunch of ****. He has NO position. I've said it a thousand times. Get your head around it. I'm "digging his grave". WTF? Do you people even look at what you write? You, Tibs, Ant ETC... all have the same spiel. You find one guy that was against the pick then you all jump on him and twist his words to fit your "Everything is great because the Steelers picked him" agenda. Even if someone said he would be in the HOF you wouldn't say a word. You'd be fine with it because "Steelers".

Look up objectivity and try to embrace the definition... or at least comprehend it.

He has NO position.

He doesn't have ONE position, rather several, depending on how Haley is going to use him. His positions may be:

1. Back-up 3rd down RB and back-up RB in specific down & distance situations
2. Slot WR
3. H-Back - in specific formations
4. KR / PR

There, finally something we agree on. So you're absolutely right, he doesn't have a position, he has four positions.

Look up objectivity and try to embrace the definition... or at least comprehend it.

True objectivity on your part, would be exactly the opposite of what you're doing. You'd have to set aside all your preconceived notions about how small & light Archer is, the fact that YOU think he doesn't have a position, the fact that you dismiss his college stats because he played at a small school and give the kid an OBJECTIVE chance to make a name for himself, to find a role in the offense, nail down a ST job and make some plays in his second year in the league. That would be objectivity.

What's for supper, I made home made Bean soup with pork steak and carrots. Might finish off with butterscotch pudding.......

I'm sorry, but I have to jump in for this one...

back up 3rd down back? Are you serious? This is not a position in the NFL.
slot WR? in his dreams can he be a slot WR, they may try to line him up in the slot, but his hands are suspect, his route running is horrible. There was a reason his college coaches regretted trying to move him to WR... he can't play it. Besides, who are you going to take off the field to put him in the slot? Brown, Bryant, Wheaton, Miller, Bell?
H-back...doesn't even warrant a response
KR/PR he was removed from this "position", so he'll have to earn his way back to this...if you have to earn your way back into the one role you were really drafted to fill, that's a problem.

I will hope and cheer that Dri somehow is able to flip the switch and be the player the coaches had envisioned when they drafted him. But I'm not going to sit around and make **** up to make myself feel better about the pick either. Your argument about him having four positions is weak...it's weaker than weak.

insantini, well if he doesn't have a position, as you and Vader are suggesting, then there really is no reason to keep him. Technically, the second he sets foot on the field, he would have to have a position of some sort, one of the eleven players on offense. He probably won't be an OT, OG or C, nor will he play QB. So it's proabably as a RB or a WR, one would think. But if he really doesn't have a position, I guess that eliminates him from playing the game of football. They should just cut his *** now.

Oh so you're going to take the LITERAL stance on this. Well if he's on the field he MUST have a position, and not the logical one where the coaches are forcing the action to him. I do feel they SHOULD cut him. Answer me this, at what position does he make this team better?

Is it as a RB? Because they barely gave him the ball last year, even after releasing Blount, they brought an undrafted FA to take the back up RB duties and carries. Is it as a WR? Because he didn't take snaps away from Bryant (even tho it took him 6 games before he even got a helmet on gameday), and he certainly didn't take snaps away from Moore (who was upset at his lack of playing time and asked for his release)...

Was it as a KR/PR? Because he never returned a punt, and he had the KR duties taken away and given to Blount and Wheaton.

Stefan Logan is a very good comparison (besides the fact that he was actually a decent returner). He was labeled as a RB and a WR on different rosters, he failed as both. In four years in the league he scored one TD, and that was a KR for the Lions. He was undrafted. Dri was drafted in the third round, can't handle the load of a more than a carry or two per game, can't catch the ball well enough to deserve 4-5 targets a game, and has already been taken off return duties once. That to me says that he doesn't have a position. He was pumped up as a jack of all trades, not great at one thing, but good at a lot of things, blazing speed, shiftiness, etc. He has shown a below average ability to carry the ball, below average ability to catch the ball, below average ability to return kicks, and the blazing speed? It's just not there in the pro's, when defenders take better angles, can read and diagnose plays much faster. It's a failed experiment and yes, they should cut their losses and not waste a roster spot on someone that MIGHT see the field once or twice a game.

There is a lot of things to happen before final roster is named. If Dri can make the cut, then he deserves to be on the team. Problem right now, is some here think that final cut is about to happen.

Running real fast is not an NFL position. My sincere hopes are that young Dri has saved the money he has been paid so far.

Yeh, me too. Damn Buckeye...I'm gunna go pull some of that venison back-strap out of the freezer fur dinner.

So Dri gets no time to adjust his game to the NFL. No time to get stronger. No time to learn the offense. No time to improve as player. He had one year to wow us or he is out of here. So glad we didn't cut a number of players over the years who didn't set the world on fire their first year.

There's a difference between the "number of players" you are referring to and Dri Archer. I'm sure one of the examples you would use would be Troy...first I'll just say NO, just stop with that. For every player you will name as "good thing we didn't cut them" I can name just as many that we SHOULD have cut and not wasted roster space or time on.

Archer shows no potential and that's the key. It's not just his small stature. He lacks vision, which as a RB isn't good. He runs poor routes and has questionable hands, which as a WR isn't good. He makes poor decisions and isn't decisive in his cuts, which as a returner isn't good. We have better players already on the roster to do the things that he is supposed to be able to do. Why waste a roster spot, or even worse a game day spot on someone who's contributions are going to be minimal at best?

It was a bad pick on a bad player that isn't going to pan out. It happens, best to move on now and not waste anymore time. It wouldn't be the first time a player has been drafted and cut the following year, it won't be the last.

We will I'm sure of it too I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Then I will root for that player to be a contributor to our cause.

I tell my kids, all the time, that if they aren't good at something the first time they try it, to pack it in and find something else. They will never get better.....

Was there some other games you were privy to that the rest of wasn't? On the limited amount of carries he had you we able to determine he has poor vision? On the limited opportunities he lined up at WR you saw that he is a bad route runner?? I don't remember any of these things. He had his problems returning kicks. He has admitted that. Says he needs to slow down read things better instead if just relying on his speed. He also had poor blocking. Blount had the same issues. Even when Wheaton looked better you have to remember he didn't break one either. I saw potential last year. He actually looked better as RB showed no fear running the ball. Didnt look injury prone as others suggested. I think with a year under his belt in the weight room, in the playbook and with coaching we may see some dividends from the pick. Not ready to give up on the guy.

Dad of the Year, right there, I tell ya.
