Deflategate Investigation: Complete ... Awaiting Report.

I had a little chitchat wit a pats fan

can someone tell me wut this ****** is talking about?

Referring to the ice on the field near the sidelines during a playoff game in Pittsburgh over 40 years ago. Allegedly the Steelers iced the field to slow the faders' outside speed WRs.....lol.

more fallout - ESPN fired Bill Simmons when he went on the Dan show and blasted Lord Goodell

Simmons was more or less fired followed a Thursday appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. Simmons, brought on to discuss the New England Patriots’ ball-deflation scandal, used his airtime to cut a promo blasting NFL commissioner Roger Goodell

I think it’s pathetic. Roger Goodell has handled so many things so poorly that it’s reached a point now where you have something like this, where it’s taken four months to release the report, and he knew everything that was in it. He knows the results before the report is released to the public, and yet doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to do anything about it until he gauges the public reaction.

The rumor was that condensation got under the tarp on the field, causing it to ice. I guess the condensation was only on the sidelines. But the Raiders were known for greasing their uniforms, deflating balls among other things. I actually think stuff like that is fun. It puts a little character in the game. The problem now is they don't want any character in the game. And that is why what the Pats have done again pisses everybody off. 40 years ago, when people were allowed to be characters, it probably would have been winked at.

NFL challenges report on Brady suspension

By Chris Greenberg
Boston.com Staff | 05.09.15 | 4:23 PM

The NFL says it hasn’t yet made any decision on suspending Tom Brady over Deflategate, contrary to a new report that says the four-time Super Bowl MVP is about to make the wrong kind of history.

New York Daily News NFL columnist Gary Myers reported Friday that Brady will be suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the decision will be announced next week. Myers cited several unnamed sources who have “a good sense of what goes on” at the NFL’s headquarters.

But NFL spokesman Greg Aiello spokesman said in an email to Boston.com Saturday that “no decisions have been made.”

“It is Gary Myers’ prediction,” Aiello wrote. “The headline is misleading.”

That headline, which you can read here, is “Tom Brady will be suspended by Roger Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement expected next week.”

The NFL’s statement that no decision has been made on possible punishments does not necessarily mean that no suspension is coming. Speculation on the duration of a possible punishment for Brady has been rampant since investigator Ted Wells’ report on the scandal was released Wednesday.

Goodell said Wednesday that the potential punishments were under consideration.

Citing sources with the Patriots, Mike Giardi of CSSNE.com reported Thursday the team is “fearful” of a suspension perhaps ranging from six to eight games.

“Everything is being studied, everything is being considered,” Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported Thursday, citing an unnamed NFL source described as having knowledge of league disciplinary procedure. The Herald report did not suggest a minimum punishment, but noted that even a season-long ban was not off the table.

“It would be wrong to dismiss such an extended and seemingly improbable length of time as the ceiling for discipline,” Salguero wrote, citing his NFL source.

There were severe storms during that time and the field was covered with tarps. Rain got under the tarps and froze on the field. The area outside the hash marks was iced rather badly. It clearly was due to the bad weather not bad intentions. In that era it was much easier to slow down wide outs. You just knocked them down and lit them up after the catch.

The cheatriots fans as usual know not of what they speak.

The Steelers have had some allegations against them throughout the years.

Steroids in the 70's and 80's... Steroids were not illegal to possess or use in the USA until 1990. The NFL added them to the Banned list in 91...thus from the 60's when they first started being used in the NFL by the Chargers players through the 80's use was rampant for every team... because there were no rules on it.

Illegal Practices- The NFL limited the timeframe the teams could practice in Pads before the season. Chuck noll held a practice outside of that timeframe...IIRC it was a rookie camp practice... and John clayton, who was a beat guy for the team, turned them in. They lost a pick, and rightfully so. This was the single biggest cheat the Steelers ever did and it was intentional. Noll did it because he hated the rule, a rule, I might add, that was created by Dan Rooney

The raiders were always salty about the Immaculate reception. the raiders were also the biggest cheats in NFL history. They accused the steelers of ruining the field when a tarp split during a rainstorm. they actually had lots of accusations back then. Cheaters tend to suspect other of cheating all the time. this was just a playoff game so it made matters more memorable.

for the record, ESPN did a piece on the 70's Raiders back in the 90's, where they brought in two long retired players to explain their on the field cheating methods... it was brutal... sticky stuff on hands, greasing uniforms, faking a broken arm or hand so you could have a metal rod put in and use it to really beat an opponent in the trenches... putting ben gay on their fingers and intentionally smearing it around someones eyes in a pile... bad stuff.

anyhow the only other real blemishes on the Steelers record were Tomlin stepping on the field, which was an absurd thing to do on his part, and Sanders faking an injury, which the league had to crack down on since it was getting stupidly rampant.

There was the will Wolford thing, but the facts of that make anyone trying to use it against the Steelers a blathering moron.
the terminology of the contract was found, after he retired, to have meant for a bonus of a couple hundred thousand dollars to be paid out a year later than they did, which at some point would have put them less than 100k over the cap... this was discovered by Steeler capologists, the league never knew... The Steelers turned themselves in, and the league offered to let them go without punishment due to the situation, however Dan Rooney declined the waiver, and when it was brought before the owners they docked us a 3rd round pick, which was harsh for the violation.

To my knowledge the Pats have never turned themselves in.

look I know all the things the Steelers did wrong. I am mostly Ok with the punishments, except the Ben suspension, which was absolutely wrong, and the Harrison fines, which again... they made up a rule after the fact because of the PR....

yeah nowhere on the level of spygate and deflategate.....

ticky tacky stuff, in comparison

to me it is ignorance for them to point fingers back when their club is the most crooked sports franchise in the history of the sports. We used to rag on Ray Lewis for his murder allegations but that fan base wouldn't care if Bill and Brady raped and killed as long as they received a trophy.

How I love the Steelers if they did something to this magnitude I wouldn't be offering excuses. I would be pissed. and it would be hard for me to watch them again.

I just can't figure out what has happened to some people now where they have no integrity-morals when it comes to the team they watch.

Pats* used to IR people to keep them and would hVe them work on practice squad for years. Don't know if they still do.

I think this is a problem with society in general ! .. Morals and Integrity have pretty much become an after thought !!

All kidding aside, I can't stand them but the football thing is a joke. The only reason it's even a story is because they tried to act like it didn't happen. They kicked the **** out of the Colts. Brady could have been forced to throw medicine balls that night and it wouldn't have mattered.

ha ha

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer I don't think the Patriots' 4-month whisper campaign implicating other teams and the league thru certain media helps them here.

Ageed, but you don't think that them having the lowest fumble rate in football since they allowed teams to bring their own balls to road games has a impact on games?

I wonder how come this wasn't noticed sooner? Isn't the ball placed on the line of scrimmage after each play by an official?

Its not like they totally flattened the ball. the officials measured the ball before the game, they probably didn't think a thing about it after that. its why this is as bad as it is... they went far out of the way to circumvent the rules for something that gives a miniscule edge

The league was alerted. They alerted the Refs. Then the balls went missing for 9 minutes before the game. They should have taken the extra five minutes to check the balls before the game even started.

it's not that it helped them - it didn't
it's the fact that they once again circumvented league rules in order to attempt to gain an unfair advantage over their opponent. they already had home field. they had the weather they preferred vs an indoors team. just piling it on is what they were doing. but that's THIS one game. As noted, what about all the other games? If they did this in previous games, and there's no indication this was a one-time occurrence, then what if they shouldn't have even been IN the playoffs? Or maybe they should have been playing in Indy? There's just a ****-ton of possibilities that this brings up.

I'm sure the bookies in Vegas are watching this **** very closely.

The fumbling will be the litmus test. If they move to middle or upper end in the next two years I'd say their legacy is completely trashed. Turnovers are damn near everything in winning. You would have to discount everything they did between the time they got the rule changed to this season. Meaningless.

FIRST off, don't brush this off as just one game. If it was the one game, I'd be with you. It's been going on for some time. Since tommy boy lobbied to allow visiting teams to bring their own balls (tommy has NO balls). Look at turn over rate, from that point on, unbeleivable where the cheatriots are head n shoulders apart from everyone elswe. Kapish???

Sadley this is true. Society, mostly has gone the way side. NOT all, but enough to lower the scale.

Excellent post, many eyes will be watching for this exact thing............. time will be the telltale!!!!!!
