The mortality rate from measles is actually pretty low and was even before the vaccine was developed in the early '60's. That not to say that I don't think the M-M-R isn't a good thing, because I believe that it is. What I find troubling is that even though there have always been years where outbreaks have occurred, even after the development of the vaccine, this particular spike is adamantly being blamed on the "anti-vaxxers", solely, absolutely no doubt about it. If the subject of 20 million unvaccinated migrants flowing in from 3rd world countries is brought up it's summarily dismissed as a possible factor in the current spike of measles cases and once again making this another politically charged, emotionally ladened issue.

I'm not going to do a typical Flog and attack the "good Dr." or whatever he is, I'll just attack the terrible analogy (you know, actually debate on the messaging).

Analogizing putting oil into your car and vaccines into your body is an intellectually weak argument. He uses a one size fits all argument. His argument assumes vaccines are vaccines (no difference among them) and oil is oil (no difference among them) and both are simply preventative, so just load up on em. He makes no differentiation on the types of vaccine and the condition of the human, like not considering the type of car and therefore the type of oil.

Let's say Floggy's Dodge Dart needs oil. Would it be wise for Flogtard to put this in when the Dart calls for 0W-20 synthetic oil?

Just putting any ole' oil into that immaculate Dart could be bad. Just like putting any random vaccine into every human could be bad. Thus, we listen to our doctors. Not every human needs every vaccine invented.

Cool story.
Measles aren't typically deadly, though.
So no need to really panic and start acting as if this will bring life to a grinding halt if some kids get infected.
Just a rash and some feverish temps that clear on their own in about a week.
And even if you get vaccinated, the chances remain you could still contract measles, although rare.
Our bodies. Our choices. If you choose to get vaccinated, you should have nothing to fear and/or complain about.
And if you choose not to, you know the risk is greater to contract it.
