so what 2,3, and 4 lost? thats a total screw you to the system this late in the year
If Michigan loses again and Penn state wins out the big ten will have two 2loss teams in the big ten championship. That will bode ill for the whole conference getting a playoff spot over other teams with one loss. They really dont play anyone to close out the season and help them in the rankings....
Since you asked, I think PSU would have scored 50 with Hack. People think Hack is some immobile pocket passer but he's actually faster than McSorley. The offensive design last year was pro style. Hack is no Vick but neither is McSorley. Just look at how much faster the backup Steven is when he gets a few reps.
The PSU offense struggled today because McSorley has a chicken arm. Indiana simply stacked against the run and dared PSU to throw deep. McSorley's deep passes flutter and become 50/50 balls that the WR has to win. A QB with an arm like Hack would have shredded that gameplan.
There is a reason why Ohio State finally broke through and beat Bama with Cardale Jones at QB. It was because the defense had to defend the entire field. Hack is no great runner but neither was Cardale. In this offense, Hack would have enough athleticism to be effective in the fakes. Carson Wentz used read option at ND State and he uses it with the Eagles some too. The QB doesn't have to be a great runner for it to be effective.
I get it, you hate Hack, but there's a reason why he was drafted in Rd 2. Penn State's scheme and lack of OL play made it a no win situation for the QB. This year's scheme, coupled with new OL coach Matt Limegrover has made the QB's job much easier.
I think McSorley is place holder this year. I think Tommy Stevens will beat him out next year. He's bigger, faster, and has a better arm. That is not to minimize what Trace has done. He has been great this year for sure.
