Would you take a 0-16 2016 season if it meant once and for all getting rid of Tomlin?

I don't hope for their failure to prove my point. So no. I hope they go 16-0 and win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately they will go 8-8 at worst and it will be a continued death by papercut and Ben will go into a retirement with no more rings. Tomlin is a bad ****** coach. But it will be after Ben is gone before he is.

I propose a solution to all the Tomlin Haters.

I've read your many complaints about Tomlin and I've identified both the problem and the solution.

Key and Peele will illustrate...

I am sad if you sincerely feel that way. I don't believe it's the case. Definitely not on my part anyway.

Wouldn't care if Tomlin was green with poka dots. You cannot lose that game today. You just can't.

They still wouldn't fire him if he went 0-16. He'd probably even survive a "dead girl or a live boy" type scandal. I just know my team is going to be stupid for the better part of my foreseeable life.

The Serenity Prayer is not just for addicts, but is applicable to sports fans as well.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Point being, you all can give yourselves ulcers over things out of your control. As much as people may want to deny it, the NFL is big business. It's about $, not W / L.

we shouldn't live in our fears in replacing Tomlin

no stone should go unturned in looking for another pedigree's coach

we could defend every blade of grass looking for a replacement

and find one that just might not habitually lose to sub .500 teams

and habitually either leave a star studded O on the outside looking in or one and done...

At this point I would offer the HC job to Mike Shula. Let him bring in his own OC. I would suggest we promote Joey Porter to DC.

THis is the new NFL. You must score a lot to win. Having an effective defense will get you to the playoffs. Our current defense is not effective.

Just curious if people would sacrifice an entire season and just stink it up if it meant no more Tomlin? I think it would take that for Art to admit he was wrong. Even better would be if the team was sold away from the Rooney's.

0-16 would he hard to live through, but I'm tired of Tomlin's coahing decsions sucker punching our belvoed team in the nuts. A good coach picks the best players to start, makes adjustments, knows when to go for it or kick, and wisely uses his time outs. Tomlin has to go.

It's not going to happen this year. Tomlin signed an extension through the 2018 season. At the time of the signing, it made him among the top five highest-paid coaches.

All this for a guy who has better talent that his record shows who has not won a playoff game in years. I was really hoping the Steelers would let him play out the 2015 season, then see who's out there and upgrade if possible in 2016.

This constant losing to bad teams should not be tolerated.

I like Tomlin off the field. He seems like a very good dude. I'd like to talk football with the guy in a bar away from the media, but his failures are not flukes. They are confirmed patterns and habits that prevent the Steelers from hosting another Lombardi trophy.

you fire and replace him with who?
what all around DC or all around coach could you snag?

could blame Colbert for not moving up to take peters or Collins.
Golsen next year should solidify the slot cb job , gay should be resigned 102 years until grant can take over.
Blake should be let go, and Cockrell resigned and challenge cortez and hopefully a high end draft pick.

I am not hoping they lose. What I was asking is would you take the 0-16 knowing you won't make the playoffs, win a game, or anything if it meant no more barely .500 and maybe sneaking into the playoffs to just lose. I mean do you take consistently being "ok" or do you tear off the Band-Aid and take the one season of pain to hopefully replace your mediocre coach with a guy who might be able to get you over the hump. I mean we right now have a 3 year window maybe 4 with Ben being in his prime. Do we waste that on Tomlin or roll the dice someone can come in and correct the ship? Personally, after these two losses from the Ravens I would have fired him after the game. The seattle loss was hard but they are a pretty good team. Chiefs loss was tough but again a playoff team so I can deal with it. Both Ravens games made me SICK. We gave away the first and the second we never really were in it. Even after lucking out on the pick six coming back I knew we had no chance. The comeback win was the exception to the rule that we cannot comeback on teams and the ravens games show we play down to our opponent!

I take 0-16 let us a get a stud in the draft and then fill a few holes the next few rounds with a new coach that can lead.

Colbert has got to do something rather then keep feeding MT these sorry *** DB's. I have heard Su'a Cravens usc lb/s has received comparisons to Troy, 6"1 225, so far , I read he runs between 4.48 and a mid 4.5 at the moment Walter and other draft sights have him as a early rnd 2 pick,
If SD is unwilling to pay Weddle he can come in immediately in our attacking 3-4 zone, now after a year with running the D solo Butler should change how far the CB's line off the WR change from 8 yards to 4-5. Weddle would be a perfect fit, hard hitter and can cover. There is no way KC will let Berry go nor will we be be able to afford him, we got to let lot's of these ufa's go except Beachem, gay, and for cheap bring back Villinueva, spence, boykin Foster,Mclendon (short term) . warren, Golden
Should not be offered blake, speath vick bruce toddman blanchflower, legursky, Cam Thomas
There are several others but these are the key ones

Over and over again, I hear "replaced by who?" How about an interim coach who may or may not be head coach material? How about the ball boy? I really don't care. Tomlin isn't getting any better and has reached his ceiling.

No.

And Cowher made plenty of questionable-to-bad decisions. Like sticking with Kordell Stewart as the starting QB for six seasons.

Absolutely true, and I hated BC, at the time, for that very reason. And the two are not mutually exclusive: Just because BC made bonehead decisions doesn't exonerate MT for his moronic moves.

Frenchy, it isn't Cower's fault Rooney did not want to pay O'Donnell in an uncapped free agency. With Neil I beleive we play again in the super bowl.

While Stewart was a coach killer, what do you do when you're options are Tomzack, Miller or Graham?

The fact that Bill had winning seasons with these four is pretty amazing.

Once Maddox was around Bill made the move.

There is such thing as drafting, Bill could have attempted to get himself a better QB that way.

He was winning a ton of games in the early to mid-1990's, and the draft position did not let him get a QB who was even decent.
His teams then were 7-9 and 6-10 when bad. Gave the team "ehh" draft position. Whom did they pass on in the 1999 and 2000 drafts? Shaun King? Brock Huard? Chad Pennington? Yeah, no. Take a look at the draft boards:

http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?season=2000&round=round1#round1

The 2004 draft was loaded with top-flight quarterbacks. The Steelers fortunately lost the last game of that season and wound up with the 11th pick. They thereby got one Ben Roethlisberger in the draft - the first good QB they had a chance to get since Marino in 1983.

Those are the facts.
